  • Ooh....eyeballing ice cream would be dangerous for me. I'll eyeball lettuce or chicken (I eat it enough to guesstimate), but peanut butter, oils, and creams? No can do.
  • Probably counting out individual cheez-its and putting them into single-serving baggies so I won't overindulge while watching TV. Compared to most people on here, it's not that unusual. To my family members, the only explanation is an eating disorder.
  • I went from 175 to 140 by changing my diet, walking more, and using arm weights from time to time. I suspect I have PCOS, because I also went from having four periods a year to never missing a single one. However, now that I've been stalled for a while and still have fifteen to twenty left to go, I've been saving my money…
  • 4 oz of leftover smoked chicken with two teaspoons of olive oil and seasonings to dip it in. Simple, but tasty.
  • If I recall, I think it was Freud that said that the best way to get rid of an addiction was to replace it with another, less harmful one. Of course, Freud said a lot of crackpot things, too, but it rang true in my case. I replaced sugar with caffeine. Still not good for you, but my morning coffee doubled as an appetite…
  • I love this brand! I tried Greek yogurt once or twice before, and couldn't get over the sourness and the texture. Maybe my taste buds have changed, but I had a coupon for Light & Fit and bought some, and now that I've tried it I can't get enough. Low sugar, within my calorie mark, decent amount of protein, and filling for…

  • Exactly. It's stupid to be anti-alcohol and anti-weed because kids should learn self-discipline and it isn't bad in moderation, but we need to completely abstain from junk food? Three or four oreos are fine. It's when you start eating the entire container in one sitting that there's a problem.
  • It's not. But my stomach size and appetite far outweigh what I actually burn on an average day. That's why I consume as much protein and caffeine as I can, and resist sugar. The former suppresses my appetite, the latter, even in fruit form, induces cravings.
  • It's not. But it's effective click bait, considering the number of people on here. And unfortunately, the stereotypical perception of "I hate men" is a bunch of wives shaking their head over what their husbands do, while the stereotypical "I hate women" forum is assumed to be serious, and therefore draws an angry mob. Not…
  • It's like people who start off wealthy. They have an advantage and can blow money (calories) that we can't, so it's easy to be jealous of them. I don't hate wealthier people or men, but I still shake my head when my brother downs an entire pizza and still looks like Shaggy while I'm struggling to fit one piece into my…
  • One tablespoon of creamer, and Silk for the rest. Not nearly as good, but saves on carbs and still gets me up in the morning.
  • I usually wait until a couple days have past, and the bloating has started to subside. It still hurts, but not as badly. :)
  • Wow. It's scary how similiar our age/body types are. 0_0 I don't have any advice regarding medications, since I haven't been able to take any (long story). However, I have noticed a correlation between my weight and my symptoms. My weight peaked at 175-180, and I started getting hairier at 160. I dropped down to and have…
  • Like everyone else has been saying, I just look up the nutrition chart and try to make it fit my calories. I'm fortunate that most of the places we go I'm familiar enough with to have a favorite that I know is within my calorie range. Work events and spontaneous going out to eat with coworkers are the worst, though. If I…
  • As someone who's been one of those auditors, I feel your pain. We know you don't want us there, but we have to be there, and we both have to pretend to be happy about it. All the while, we have to make sure we get the job done quickly enough to stay in budget, thoroughly enough to make sure we're catching the major things…
  • I do the exact same thing. I hate to promote the stereotype of women being insecure about their looks, and it's something I can't really explain to my SO without sounding vain, but it's definitely true in my case. It's part of why I have a slight phobia of malls, actually. Crowded, open spaces bother me anyways, and if…
  • As long as you don't go overboard on cream/sugar, it was a good idea for me. Caffeine helps me suppress my appetite. It's proven to do the same for others. However, if I overindulge on creamer, the sugar in creamer counteracts that. It's all a matter of what works for you.
  • I have the same problem. I think I've always been this way, I just never realized it until the weight started coming off. Before, a bloated stomach just looked like a fat stomach. Now, the difference between when I wake up in the morning and after I eat/drink something is significantly more noticeable. I'm still trying to…
  • I haven't bought a new bra since high school (four years ago), because even though my weight loss stalled after thirty pounds last year, I'm still convinced that I need to finish losing weight before I spend all that money. Plus, the fact that while I've maintained the weight loss through good eating habits, I haven't…
  • This topic has some pretty good tips: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1161603/so-you-want-a-nice-stomach/p1
  • If I ate intuitively, I would be back where I started. Even now that I've been eating less for six months, the few times I've gone to 2000 calories, I still wasn't full. My eating cycle depends entirely on planning or cravings. The former is better for me, in the long-run.
  • Are you eating 1200 TOTAL calories or 1200 NET calories? Net calories are what you eat minus calories burned while working out. For example, if I eat 1500 calories and burn 300 working out, I have a NET of 1200. I would still recommend eating a net of 1400 or 1500, many people's bodies don't respond well to 1200, as it's…
  • I don't think the poster was that far off. Before they were famous, Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Lawrence both got criticized for being too "fat" for the industry. Johansson's body type even looks like Monroe's, to me.
  • I'm not certain that's actually correct information, hence the "And while the other websites might just be sporting outdated data, the fact that I have to be paranoid about this sort of thing irks me." bit. Most of the confusion seems to be in that there is (or was) a "snack" and "regular" size, while their website doesn't…
  • Thanks! Didn't realize that was there.
  • Oops, forgot the question. Anyone come across similar situations? Or am I just overreacting?
  • I guess the main reason I was so nervous was because I've hit a plateau this last month. And ever since I upped my intake a little and started doing weights, I've been craving like a madwoman. I'll go ahead and have some tuna and coffee, to tide me over. Once again, thanks everyone! I used to be able to skip meals no…
  • Oh, and thanks everyone for the birthday wishes!
  • They pitch a fit if I get a salad when I go out, and I know I'll hear the "but it's your birthday!" excuse. Considering they're paying for the meal, I'd feel bad about insisting on it. I usually get around this by checking out the menu's nutritional information beforehand, and getting something that's healthy that doesn't…
  • In my experience, MFP tends to over calculate calories burned, so I usually set mine to 50 minutes if I was exercising for an hour. After that, I usually eat back 75% of it. I'd be a bit cautious about it if you were eating 1600+ calorie intake, but if you're 1200ish calorie intake, I would definitely eat them back.
