When I was doing very low carb for weight loss 2 summers ago (hey, guess what? I'm baaaack!), I would not lose weight for 2.5 weeks out of the month. I'd have my period, and then weight would FALL OFF for 1.5 weeks, then back to a steady weight for the next 2.5 weeks. During this whole time, I pretty steadily lost inches…

I have several 2ft tall raised beds (keeps the dogs out) for edibles. We also grow winter squash on the ground as a kind of living mulch most years. 3x3 - shallots, scallions, brussels sprouts 3x3 - Artichokes, winter squash (growing over the side), pole beans(on a trellis) 3x3 - Garlic, brussels sprouts, pole beans (on a…

Doesn't seem to affect me. It's delicious!

How much fat are you getting?
-
Sounds like you're getting lots of carbs and not a whole lot of vegetables.
-
Salads with grilled meats and as many vegetables as you can think of. Last night we had a mixed green salad with: roasted beets(cubed) roasted butternut squash(cubed) canned chickpeas(rinsed) Sauteed quartered mushrooms edamame avocado sauteed asparagus quartered strawberries feta roasted hazelnuts chicken sausage (or…

Fats make you full, not fat. :)

Use one source for your food data. That would either be the scale or mfp. I just use a normal food scale that doesn't have food preprogrammed in. Take your grams and enter into MFP.
-
You can do either. Realistically, weighing before it's cooked is probably more accurate due to widely varying amounts of water in cooked food.

I mix ranch mix (one of the few non-clean things I regularly use) with greek yogurt as a dip or topping. All the flavor, almost none of the fat.

Ever since costco started selling bags of hulled pistachios... ugh. I have to avoid that whole snack section for fear of one of the bags accidentally falling into my cart.

I eat natural hormone-free chicken, but not free range or organic. I can usually get whole chickens for $.89/lb on sale, or boneless skinless breasts for $3.50/lb on sale. Our dogs eat the whole chickens, so whatever parts I want from them, I'll cut off and use for us, and the doggies get the rest. Beef - only grass fed.…

When I did low carb, a one minute muffin was the trick to keep me regular. I hated eating it, but it was the only thing that kept things moving. Some people liked them. blech. 1-Minute Muffin 1/4 cup Flax Meal 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder 1 packet Splenda 1 teaspoon Cinamon 1 Egg 1-2 teaspoons Butter 1.5 Carbs Mix the dry…

When my jar of Grey Poupon is getting close to empty, I'll put a bunch of olive oil and balsamic in there and shake it. Cleans off the mustard from the sides and makes a great dressing when salt and pepper are added. Plus, no dishes!

All of the grains that I DO eat are whole, but I try to avoid them if possible.

This. I think most of the problems are related to the industrial food system. Chicken I buy local and "all natural" (whatever that means), but it's not pastured. Chickens suffer minimal problems compared to other animals on a corn-based diet. Pork I rarely buy, so tend to buy standard, but I'd like to find a good source…

I make a bunch of extras, so my husband will get up early, eat breakfast, come home for lunch and have leftovers, get home from work around 4 and have an extra meal of leftovers, then eat dinner with me around 6. Then he'll eat a big bowl of "dessert" which is usually frozen blueberries mixed with some vanilla sugar, and…

One minute muffins - If you've never had them they're worth a try. When I was doing LC, I wasn't getting enough fiber and had trouble making... movements. The one minute muffins were not tasty, but they were very filling and kept things moving. I'd generally have breakfast, and keep a one minute muffin in my purse. My rule…

Greek yogurt and cottage cheese are not particularly low carb unless you're well past induction.

Ham Roll-ups! They're like a low carb cuban sandwich Use deli ham that's low in sugar spread with some cream cheese add some mustard lay a pickle spear on it roll up like a burrito http://homeindisarray.blogspot.com/2012/08/induction-ham-roll-ups.html Artichoke jalapeno lettuce wraps - Costco jalapeno artichoke dip Romaine…

In my experience, similar quantities of flour and oats will have vastly different liquid-holding properties. I'd say you would have to use more flour, and be careful not to overmix. Your muffins would not end up the way that they're supposed to still, and you'd lose the benefits of whole grains.

One of my friends made guacamole and filled it with a bunch of raw onions. IMO, that is the quickest way to ruin guac is to mask the flavor of the avocados.

Isn't pizza dough always vegan?

We have a 5 guys near our house. The fries suck. I am a fan of their burgers though!

My husband's best friend's ex girlfriend fancied herself a "cook." She made a monstrosity that was prepared 100% in the crock pot - Frozen meatballs cream of XYZ soup water canned green beans frozen pea/carrot/corn medley dehydrated onion like 4 tablespoons of garlic powder dried parsley She called it goulash. With all of…

I've been craving wings like crazy lately. Our weekly trivia switched to a different bar and their wings aren't as good. I think I'm going to try this!

Dark dark chocolate. It only takes a little to have "too much" and it's very satisfying. If I'm feeling particularly needy, I will sometimes eat it with cut up strawberries. OR - this is one of my favorites - frozen blueberries or raspberries, topped with just a little sugar (or splenda if you're into that) topped with…

I make a soy based sauce. tamari chicken stock(homemade - salt free) minced garlic lemongrass from a tube grated ginger sriracha honey lime juice or rice vinegar sometimes sake put in 4 cup pyrex and microwave til hot, add in a small cornstarch slurry, stir, microwave until it becomes translucent again.

Jager has lots of calories because it's full of sugar. Classic liquor styles tend to not have much extraneous sugars.

Why not pig or mouse milk?
