This weekend I did a 5K walk for the National Brain Tumor Foundation. It was a great event and it was a perfect way to get in some excercise! Some charity organizations require you raise money, some do not. In any case, whether you want to simply go for a walk or 'practice' running, its a wonderful way to give back.…

I found the same thing! I was really mad that it claims 4 hr hunger control and within two hours I'm starving. I think its likely better for snacks and stuff. Meals maybe not so much?

For me personally, my F6 is truly THE most valuable piece of gear I have. There are days when I feel like I'm kicking butt only to see that D'oh! my hr isnt all that high. See I can fool myself into thinking ANYTHING, so my HRM keeps me 100% accountable. No more " eh, I'll say it was 300 cals burned" I also use it to…

I've been taking a few intense cardio classes at the gym here and there and every time, the instructors have water breaks, encourage water drinking, etc. Last night the instructor noticed my 32 oz bottle was almost empty towards the middle of class, he advised 'drink slow unless you need a refill' ( I didnt want to stop…

Ive belonged to my gym for roughly 6 or 7 years- they offer three free sessions with a trainer, so after all this time, I decided to take advantage of it. Im just curious how y'all would agree or disagree with what I was told. A) No matter how much you work out, or how vigorously, or how perfect a workout is, if you dont…

This is what confuses me- When I do more 'muscle' work like Pilates, weights combined with cardio then I see a higher percentage. On the days when I do only cardio, the percentage is lower. And by cardio I butn AT LEAST 10 calories per minute- working at least 85% of my heart rate.

I noticed that on my Polar F6, it told me I burned 495 calories and then said 40% fat. What does the "40% fat' mean exactly?
-
Definitely a Heart Rate Monitor. I got a Polar F6 and I cannot workout without it. I've noticed on some machines, the heart rate is way WAY off base, other machines its close or exact match to what my own HRM states, so its nearly impossible to know. Also the calorie count on MFP is also way way off base...( sorry MFP) I…

I work in an office, so I'm sitting 90% of the day... however I workout REALLy hard most days of the week. I've always considered myself sedentary b/c of my job, but reading a few things made me think not. Does the activity leve we choose matter much? Thanks!

THANK YOU!!!! omg, if I saw you right now, I'd give you a giant hug. You have NO idea how much I needed that!!!!

In the past, I've slacked on my protien, and traditionally gotten hungry relatively soon. So I started eating more protien, and the 'hungry quick' went away, but I've noticed it still comes once in awhile. Yesterday I had a protein bar w/ 30 g's protein, and about 2 hrs later I was hungry again...what is the deal?! Any…

TOTALLY Angelina Jolie. Then again Brad Pitt isnt much better... Jessica Simpson is TOTALLY right there on the top of the list too, Along with Kim Kardashian. What the hell is she even famous for!? Paris Hilton is pretty close to the top too.
-
Actually the 20 G @ a time I learned here- From what I can remember, its something like anything over 20 (25?) grams of protein eaten at a time cannot be digested, so it turns to fat. Did I read that right?
-
If the body can only handle 20 g protein at a time, how long is that for? In other words, if I eat a snack with 20 g. protien, can I have more protein like 2-3 hrs later?

Anyone know of any good books on how to be more disciplined?
-
Oh yeah, I noticed that too- I put in a few foods to see how it compared and it sucked.. SO doesnt work for me!!
-
Goochi's in too! yes,I do have 100+ pds to lose, but honestly, my goal right now is like 5 or 10lbs. When I get back down to 229.9 then I'll be really really happy ( I was there for eons, plateaued, made goochi go crazy and goochi ate and ate and ate. And here Goochi is at 248 AGAIN. Sigh. ) Yes Goochi go basket case!!…

I was just peeking around on calorie-count.com and I noticed on their food lists, the foods are 'graded' ( A-F) as to how good they are with points like "low sodium" " hight fiber", - basically what makes them 'earn' the grade they get! While looking down a list, it was so cool to be able to see which option is better for…

I noticed on the elliptical there is a distance thing...is that in miles or something?

The only experieince I have with Alli is about 1.5 yrs ago when it first came out, a girl at my gym had a 'side effect' episode right in front of me, I saw the orange stuff running down her leg, it was awful. She acted as if it were a runny nose. I doubt I'd ever try it...too expensive. I peeked on their chat boards and…

I think this is becoming more and more common- My sister had something similar with a vitamin sample...it was a nightmare. I keep seeing ads for free stuff, then in tiny, cannot-even-read-print it states its NOT free at all, but actually will cosy you a fortune. One such ad I got was for a free book- in the tiny print that…

I agree too- I've known people who need to lose weight, never attempted it before, saw BL and assumed they could lose 20 lbs in less than a month...they try, do what they are supposed to be doing, lose 1-2 lbs a week, get frustrated and quit. What is the show really teaching overweight Americans? The show is motivating and…

I'm looking for something preferrably pre-made - I love the worldwide protien shakes, hence being a bit pricey...any suggestions?

I'm all about either sugar free or fat free pudding with fat free cool whip...very yummy!

I too know that if I cut out something completely I will go nuts and over do it. I've seen that alot on my many years of weight loss-people start off well enough...NO carbs! No Fat! No Sugar! No Processed foods! Low Sodium...and it goes on and on. People that cut out one entire food group without a proper substitue are…

But the positive in this is that you know where you went wrong!!! Dont despair- every day we are given a new day and another chance to make things right...I say we've all been there...doing perfectly on track and then being run over by the wagon were supposed to be on!! eeeks. I wish I could say that's the last time, but…

Anyone know of any cardio that I can do with a hurt knee? I've thought about swimming, but its still too cold...

According to my HRM, MFP can be off by like 200-300 calories in one workout. MFP gives me WAY more calories burned than my polar does, so for me at least, MFP calorie burn is not accurate.

I see a lot of people 'count calories' do you also count fat, sugar, etc? How important is it to keep track of those?
