I've just upped my calorie allowance by 200 per day as im exercising alot more than i had previously planned. Since doing this ive been losing more weight so you sometimes do have to eat more to lose more. Its all about learding your TDEE and getting to 70-80% of that.
-
You can eat your excercise calories and still lose weight as long as you are true to yourself, your food intake isnt massively sugary or filled with sodium etc. I only eat my exercise calories when i dont feel like ive eat enough in the day or if im going out for a meal with friends/family. Most of the time I bank them for…

I did nights last week but i recorded the same as usually. If i ate dinner at 6am I would count that as breakfast for the next day on the tracker. So for breakfast in my diary you'd see stuff like spaghetti! Then i'd sleep and count my 3/4pm meal as breakfast and my midnight meal as lunch. On average it balances out when…

dude you rock! i'm only 9lbs in a similar journey to yours but i will certainly achieve it. You're inspirational :)

i only do it once a week. 11am on a Sunday. A couple of weeks back I did a thursday weight in and was showing 3lbs on from the previous week and when it came to the sunday I was 3lbs lower than the previous week. A difference of 6lbs?! I was thinking i need new scales but these ones are new. I'll just weigh myself once on…

Bump This is my bro and he's doing fantastic! Add him if you're from the uk, you're into running or if you're generally just cool ;)
-
I make working out my stress relief. When i'm calm and having good days i'll row, bike or walk. If i'm having a stressful day i'll use the punchbag and whack the crap out of it :)

Mine is happy for me but does moan whenever im going to the gym because im going out and doing something and she never can (we have 2 kids). If i offer her a night off she wont go out or do anything anyway! She never used to moan when i sat and played the Xbox. It is frustrating
-
haha! thats a very strange but excellent reason!

All of the above. Basically i dont want to have to be self concious. I dont want to have to try and breathe in or pull my top down to hide my belly or worry about simple things like my trousers cutting off my circulation when im sitting down for a long time! Its all for vanity and health reasons and just to be able to fit…

I dont normally condone lying but: Tell him you had a 24 year old patient in today that had a heart attack and he was just like him so now you're really scared. Tell him you'll stay with him no matter what but you'd prefer for that to be for the next 50 years instead of 5. Do a bit of crying etc and he should get a bit of…

Now thats what im talking about!!!

thats why i dont do workout classes, i like to challenge myself at my own pace and i know at the moment i wouldnt keep up with some classes. Why dont you drop the classes for a while and do some solo exercise? it gives you time to think and concentrate on your goal and you'll challenge yourself.

I go for whey protein mixed with water. 170 calories per 300ml. 2x300ml per day. I have a chocolate caramel flavour one and its yummy! i'm also finding that I recover from a heavy gym session loads faster. Its not just for body builders its good for athletes too (improves recovery time lots).

Massive shout out to all the over 60's on here!. I'm watching this thread closely as its inspirational. Best of luck to you all!

Hi Ian, i'm in Coventry or Liverpool depending on the week!
-
haha! looks like i'm going to have to work pretty hard for the rest of the week then. Luckily its a rare occurance for me so i'm going to stick to whiskey and try to limit myself to 4 for the whole night (240 calories).
-
thanks! Whiskey it is then! 55 calories for 25ml is a good deal for me. I knew beer was high but to think i could easily drink 2000 calories worth and then have a 1000 calorie takeaway (and thats after a day of 3 meals). sickening!

On days that I do that I make sure i earn some calories back through exercise. I did the very same yesterday but earnt enough back for a lovely dinner :)
-
first of all you have a very cool lifestyle!!! Now there is no way to do this except pick a day (tomorrow is ideal) and challenge yourself on every entry, read every packet and put those calories down. if you go over you need to offset with exercise or another better day in the week. Its your week average you want to get…

The biggest one you're doing there should be the top of your list, quit smoking! well done on making this your first day, you will feel much better for it. I quit 2 years ago now and its the best thing i ever did.

I often have little bits of chocolate! there are some great mini chocolate bars that are only 100 calories or so and if you eat them slowly and really enjoy the flavour its much better than any chocolate experience you had before! just factor in a mini choccy bar on your workout days and you wont feel guilty :)
-
As a hairy dieter myself i'm a massive fan of the bikers. They're top blokes! I'll have to treat myself to their book and do a few of their meals. Also, you're wearing a pink floyd t-shirt and that makes you cool :)

This morning I had a banana, small pot of tuna and a pint of milk. Special K is also low calories and more filling than alpen in my opinion. Its far easier if you dont think of it as a diet and get some exercise in too. That way you can eat a more filling breakfast and just work back the calories and not feel guilty.

A rest day can include a leisurely walk or other activity if you wanted it to. Its about not pushing your body on that day and giving everything a chance to recover.
-
Apologies then. Its equally about nutrition and the strength training. Protein intake is very important but also eating your workout calories is important in lifting. You may be used to not eating your workout cals but if you want to lift and increase your metabolism you'll have to get your head around the fact that you…
-
Joannie it sounds like you're saying whatever you need to in order to get out of strength training. Just dont do it if you dont want to, nobody is making you and nobody is saying you have to. It will make your journey easier if you do but thats a decision you will have to make.
-
Its a helpful thing for others to know. If someone asks why they're not losing weight or they're not gaining muscle etc but they are only having 1 cup of water a day its a variable that could be stopping them from reaching their goal. I always look at how much water others are drinking.

I quit the day before my first son was born 2 years ago. I didnt want to be a smoking parent and my wife doesnt smoke. I still get cravings now and then but you just have to remember how far you've come and that it would only take 1 to fall back into old habits. Dont reason with yourself over it just tell yourself NO :)
