I'm bad at keeping to one thing. I have an addictive personality so I'll try one hobby/sport/class etc do it for a while and get so into it, then I'll get distracted by the next thing :)

Your form is off. There are 50-60 year olds in my gym lifting heavy weights just fine. Injuries are down to two things - trying to lift too heavy for ability or lifting incorrectly.
