I finished Insanity about a month ago. It definitely works and is so worth it. It is very tough, but you can do it! Have fun with it. I am actually thinking about doing it again, I kinda miss it!

I am starting over on Sunday. I was in week 2 and ended up with a pinched nerve in my back (nothing to do with the workouts, just turned wrong) and had to take the week off. I was going to start this past Sunday, but my daughter's soccer schedule got changed around so that wasn't possible. So this coming Sunday it is! I…

Eat the chocolate! I eat a small amount of chocolate almost everyday and I still am losing fat and gaining muscle. This is a lifetime change for me and I can't imagine a life without chocolate, so I will not give it up. I usually buy the bags of Dove promises or other small chocolates and have one or two or three at the…

I love trail running & lifting heavy stuff. I also just finished Insanity, it was crazy, but I loved it. I started Chalean Extreme this week and so far I really like it as well.

I trail run 2 or 3 days a week, about 4 miles a day. I also strength train 3 days a week, not on running days usually. I have my macros set to 40 protein, 30 fat, 30 carbs. I try to make sure I have some carbs and protein about an hour or two before I run. It seems to help keep my energy up. I have my calories set to TDEE…

I have been doing TDEE minus 15% for the past couple of months and I feel so much better and I am still losing. I work out 6 days a week, currently doing Chalean Extreme and trail running. There is no way I could stay at what MFP suggested for me.

Baked sweet potato fries, 3 soft boiled eggs (from my wonderful hens), green beans and parmesan cheese.

Sweet and spicy cabbage is one of may favorites. I take about a cup of beef broth or a beef bouillon cube and water, put it in a large skillet and bring to boil. Chop 1/2 a head of cabbage. Add to skillet and reduce heat to medium. Add garlic powder, onion powder and cayenne pepper. Cover and cook, stirring occasionally…

3 soft boiled eggs (from my hens), 1/2 an avocado and a small sweet potato's worth of baked sweet potato fries. Yummy!

Today is a rest day. Yesterday was a 3.75 mile trail run. It was finally warm enough for me to take my jacket off while I ran! Yay!

I am starting Sunday, too.

I always eat breakfast at work, too. I like to make scrambled eggs with Birdseye Broccoli Stir Fry veggies, or any veggies of your choice. I make a couple of days worth the night before and then just take them with me. They are great topped with salsa or pizza sauce too. Hard boiled eggs are a great option also. Add some…

Great accomplishment and great attitude! Congrats and keep it up.

I am by no means an expert, but I started running again a little over a year ago. The thing that improved my running the most was incorporating sprint intervals. I warm up with a steady run at around 5 to 5.5 mph. Then I sprint as fast as I can, really pushing as hard as possible for 30 seconds, then walk or jog for a…

I am 43 and used to be very active in my 20s. Then kids and life happened and I let myself go. I started working out again a little over a year ago. I started with body weight workouts (found on www.nerdfitness.com) and running. I then moved onto trail running and fell completely in love. It wasn't feasible for me to trail…

Check out www.nerdfitness.com. They have a great program for body weight workouts. Insanity would not be a substitute for strength training.

Check out www.nerdfitness.com. They have some great home workouts that involve just your body. Very simple and effective.

Those numbers sound reasonable to me. If you take your average heart rate for the workout, you can google calories burned based on heart rate and find a calculator that will give you an estimate also, just to ease your mind. I am currently using a Reebok hrm and I think that it calculates higher than my Polar did, so I…

Today is my day 51 of Insanity, which is Max Interval Plyo. I was supposed to do my 4th Fit Test yesterday, but played soccer with my daughter before doing Max Interval Circuit instead, so I will do the Fit Test tonight before Plyo. Having great results so far!

I am currently finishing up Insanity. My last day is March 24th and then I will be starting Chalean Extreme. I will also be doing some trail running as the weather permits. Feel free to add me as a friend.

Tonight is my day 37 of Insanity, so I will be doing Max Interval Plyo. Have just started month 2 so it is all new workouts. Last night was a killer, looking forward to more fun tonight!

I start my recovery week tonight. Looking forward to a little bit of recovery, my legs have felt wasted for the past few weeks. You can add me as a friend. I am a little scared of what is to come next week, but after month one, I know that I am capable of way more than I realized. We can do this!

I have done the Nerd Fitness Beginners Body Weight workout and had great results. I ended up adding in dumbbells as I got stronger. I also did some sort of cardio on my alternating days. If you do it correctly, without resting in between exercises and sets, it is a serious cardio workout too, so that's how I tracked it.…

I am in!

I ordered the book yesterday and can't wait for it to arrive. I have been working out at home, but will be joining my local gym when I return from vacation in 2 weeks. I am so ready to start some heavy lifting! I will keep you posted on my progress as I go along. I was so glad to find this thread, too.

Congrats on getting into recovery! I have 17 years clean and sober and I too was skinny when I was drinking and using. Food just wasn't a priority then. Take away the drugs and alcohol and what did I have left? Outrageous amounts of coffee and food! I think it is pretty normal for newly recovering alcoholics or addicts of…

I agree. If you feel alright then there is no reason to stay in that zone. I manually changed mine to a higher zone on my HRM for this same reason. I like high intensity workouts and they burn more calories. Keep killin it!

Start now! There is absolutely no reason to wait on strength training. The benefits are amazing in so many ways. And does it really matter if you gain some muscle while losing fat? Is it going to slow your weight loss that much? I doubt it. Good luck! Lift some heavy things!
