I could do, but then I'd have to slog up the hill home after my run was finished (the joys of living on top of a hill :) ) Cool, thanks guys. You always read about hill training like it's something special, so wasn't sure if doing it every run was a good thing. I definitely notice the difference though, on my flat race, I…

Depends what you want - I love MMR for sitting at work planning new routes, but I don't use it to record my runs (I rely on Garmin). MMR is definitely the best for route planning, imo

Have you tried (in conjunction with your therapist) keeping a record of binges? Almost like a food diary - what happened to trigger the urge to binge, how did you feel urge-surfing the binge compulsion, how did you feel when you were bingeing, what happened afterwards? You can then discuss this with your therapist as an…

I don't enjoy it. I don't like the gym very much, and it's an exercise that really has to be done in the gym unless you want to spend lots of money and use lots of space at home. I do enjoy a long run or a lovely slinky yoga class - neither of which are stinky and claustrophobic like the gym is

I travel a lot with work, and have started taking a plate and plastic cutlery with me. I buy myself a hotel picnic for evening meal and eat leftovers for lunch. I usually buy vegan as don't have a fridge or cooking utensils, so I get a big salad, pitta bread and hummous and some fruit for pudding. Maybe some nuts for…

https://twitter.com/MFP_Ops Synch has been down for almost 12 hours :(

I love sardines. Please only buy Cornwall drift or ring net MSC sardines though. The biscay purse seine fisheries are damaging to the local ecosystem and generate significant bycatch

Yes. I'm asthmatic so I found I needed to double the length of the programme, so I took 2 weeks to do every week. Ran my first 5k last April, now running my first 10k in a few weeks. This is the healthiest I've been asthma -wise in years

It would be useful to know how much function you have to recommend exercises. Are you able to sit without support (I. E. Use your trunk muscles to remain stable)? Do you have any leg/lower limb function? Do you have access to a gym?

I registered for a celebration race after C25K. I wanted to publicly show that I'd "graduated" and was committed to running. I did a 5k funrun for MSF/ Doctors without Borders and loved it. Raised quite a bit of money for an amazing cause too! I totally recommend a goal race for after C25k , it's such a great feeling.…

You can do specific walking marathon events too. Then you don't need to worry about runners and the events are set up with walking in mind, so the routes tend to be more scenic and the route maps have more information for an enjoyable walk.

Ooh the Mo Farah run? I'm doing bridge to 10k having done C25k last year, and am thinking of signing up, even though I'm not quite there in terms of B2 10k. As someone said up thread, I can always walk if I can't run the full distance.

It's Wednesday today. Set a goal to walk/run parkrun this Saturday. There's bound to be one near you (pm me your town if you want) and its a fab way to meet people who can point out the best places to exercise. Britain is a lovely friendly place, but it can be quite reserved, and people will keep their distance, just…

Don't quit the thread, buy yourself one of these!! tefal.co.uk/Cooking-appliances/Rice-%26-Multi-cookers/8-in-1-Multi-Cooker/p/7211000750 My favourite gadget for surviving a dark, dank UK winter. Load it up with veg, curry paste, spices, tomato, etc in the morning, come home to a lovely cooked, wholesome, satisfying veggie…

I really would recommend getting a bottle and getting some plain water into you as well as the green tea. I definitely find that water makes a real difference to afternoons. Oh, and your reflux doesn't have to be diagnosed here to count under the DDA if it is long term and debilitating, just needs to be diagnosed as such…

You need to disable negative calorie adjustment in MFP. That will stop it subtracting calories from your allowance I've got a FitBit, but it's the same principle, if I synch before going to bed after midnight, it will assume I'm only going to do the number of steps I did between midnight and bedtime in the whole day. It…

Are you drinking enough water? I get similar symptoms when I've not drunk enough. I travel a lot with work, and I find it quite difficult to ensure I'm drinking enough in a new country - either because the water tastes different or isn't as available as I'm used to, or just I don't have my water bottle with me because of…

If you have a diagnosed longterm reflux condition (GORD, for example), they should provide food that you can eat or provide you a mechanism to heat your own food - that would be considered a reasonable adjustment under the DDA. You should discuss this with your Occupational Health representative.

You can buy flatbread (khobez, pitta, tortilla, pancakes, potato cake, rye, sourdough, etc. etc.) online from any major supermarket website, even if no shop local to you stocks it. Also goats cheese, fuul, tahini, couscous, etc. Yes, you've moved north, so it gets darker earlier in winter. No reason not to run though, get…

Face bloating = go back to the doctor! Something doesn't sound right here. Are you drinking plenty. Are you having any pain urinating? Don't wanna worry you, but my husband had every symptom you describe (including back pain) for about 6 weeks before he came down with kidney stones and a wicked infection

Asthma attacks are a sign you are not in control of your asthma. You need to start with a full asthma check. Do you have a peak flow meter? If so, start using it and understand what your triggers are. Once you're in control, you can start working on breathing. I strongly recommend yoga, it's been magical for me to get…

My dh is at home recovering from major surgery. He can't do very much for himself and is in a lot of pain. So my gym time goes on the back burner. I'm still logging, I'm eating less to compensate, but right now, he needs me. The gym and my body will still be there in a pretty similar state next week.

Thanks guys! Have bought him nuts, chocolate milk to add protein powder to, some flapjack with extra protein sprinkles and some microwave meals so he can eat when he needs rather than waiting for me (I work away a lot, so sometimes aren't home until very late) . Also some peanut cookies as a special treat for after the gp…

Thanks, I'll have a think!! He can't manage the cooker and I'm at work all day, so eggs are a non starter, but he might be able to cook bacon if I get everything ready for him .
-
He eats meat, but can't use his right arm at the moment, so won't eat things that need cutting (he doesn't like food cut up for him) I'll have a look at other proteins. I eat 75% vegan so don't really want loads of whey protein knocking about that won't get used if he doesn't like it, but needs must!

Not keen on the concept of it. I don't think the smell of unflavoured hemp helps much though! !
-
I always get 10000 steps in unless I'm ill. If I'm not there by the time I'm almost ready for bed, I run on the spot until it's done. It all still counts :)

I will never cease to be confused by the cider thing. It does make the whole incident with my American exchange partner when I was 18 make more sense though!
-
Try a walk rather than a run. The last time I had a mild cough and was craving a run, I went out, had an asthma attack at 2.2k and was out of action for a month and off work over a week. Bad times!

Enjoy! Last year my parkrun turned into a parkskate it was so icy.
