Hey y'all! I'm in a wheelchair, so I'm limited on how I can knock off the calories other than eating like a bird. I use a resistance band, but I have to do it for several minutes to make a good workout. Any other suggestions for winter exercises? I love swimming, but can't do it when it's cold.

Another swimmer here! When I was recovering from ankle surgery and couldn't bear weight, the PT place I went to had an arm crank that was sort of like pedaling a bike with my arms. I could really build up a sweat with that thing!

Also, there was a guy in a wheelchair who would work out the same days I did who regularly did a whole series of different moves on a bow flex -type weight machine for like 40 minutes straight. He didn't use really high resistance, but he did TONS on reps really really fast without stopping. Looked pretty damned cardio to me!

It would be useful to know how much function you have to recommend exercises. Are you able to sit without support (I. E. Use your trunk muscles to remain stable)? Do you have any leg/lower limb function? Do you have access to a gym?
