For some reason I can't help but think of the movie Wall-E

I sure wish I COULD have whey. Doesn't agree with me AT ALL. But thanks for the info just the same! I appreciate all the advice. Yes I'm thinking the pea and hemp powders are both good ideas. I'll have to go check out whole foods. I appreciate the suggestion to lift weights, and I do plan to add that to my lifestyle - I'm…

Ooo good idea!

Ooo, forgot about quinoa thanks for the reminder! No I'm not strength training at present, just trying to walk at least two miles a day but if I'm being honest it's more like every other day. BUT some days I walk much further than that. RML thanks maybe I'll up the nuts!

MyFitness, yes you are probably right. Thanks ;)

This is soooo hard for newbies to internalize. We really want a quick fix, dontchaknow? I, too, have fallen for the "cider with the mother in it" myth. I can't do it, way too acidic for me.

Thanks! Yes the surgeon is very experienced. I will keep this in mind... if he does a good job on this foot I want to convince him to go ahead and do the other one too.

Anew, only one that says I should not do it out of two pages of responses! I'm just afraid it will be an excuse to get lazy again. BUT like you said, I can start upper body weight training. I bought this book a few days ago called "The New Rules of Lifting for Women" and the author states that women shouldn't worry so much…

what a compliment?! lol

Interesting! I will definitely take a look at the site, thanks for the information!

Well thankfully mine are not awful, the doc is agreeing to removing one but the other one he's kind of wishy washy about. I know over time it will get worse and they will remove it but I figure I should try to get both done near the same time frame because of the way shoes will fit if nothing else. Rumpus, yours were way…

That's what I do. It helps let go :)

sam, I'm not even worried about tossing shoes - I've resorted to flip flops in winter or summer. BC wearing real shoes hurts! I even wore flip flops to a formal dinner last year. OK well they were pretty flip flops but STILL! Yes I need both feet done but apparently it's one at a time with these people. And one of them is…

brudd, that's good to know, I was thinking 6 weeks was a long time. My friend had a bunion removed and she said she was back on her feet in two weeks. Thanks to Norma the retired nurse, great advice!
-
HAHAA! OK well there yah go, and it's still unanimous!
-
Yes Bernadette it is! I figured there'd be a couple people at least who had a different idea! lol I don't want to do it, but if I don't it's only going to get worse. :(

Thanks Brian and RockClimb!

Thanks guys!

bump to read later.

Mine probably wont be the most popular post, but I've been in the position when doctors were prescribing drugs to treat symptoms. I found the underlying cause. I got rid of things in my environment that were unhealthy for my body and I no longer have a need for medications. I still take thyroid meds but that's it.

To me, this is just as encouraging as reading some of the success stories. NOT because the success stories don't lift my spirits, because they DO. BUT when you read all the people's posts about how they stalled, or they are in a calorie deficit but they gained a couple pounds, well THAT can freak out a new MFPer! (I've…

Woweeee! Amazing transformation and you look GREAT!

coffee with So Delicious coconut creamer and usually oatmeal sweetened with 1 teaspoon of brown sugar. I'm starting to add a fried egg with one extra egg white as well because I need more protein and less carbs in my pre-pre-prediabetic diet. :)

Brian, that makes sense for my hubs - that's what we were thinking about that 18 mile run he did - he ran out of stored glycogen. So he did a better job of carb loading the night before, ate a high carb breakfast, and then refueled every 5 miles. The thought pattern was to give his body carbohydrates earlier on so that he…

My hubs is a long distance runner and he carb loads when he's going to run over 10 miles. Not needed for short distances. BUT if you want an excuse to eat spaghetti and it fits into your calories for the day, why not?!
-
I think everyone is different though, and my hubs probably has not trained as long as this quote. My hubs ran out of steam when he ran 18 miles a couple weeks back, but when he ate more simple carbs and took more fuel along he made a 21 mile run with energy left over. The reason I joined this group is to learn from those…

My hubs is running 81/2 to 9 minutes a mile. He can run up to about 10 miles with no water or supplements whatsoever. He does not plan his dinner or anything when he's doing 10 miles or less. If he's going to run further than that, preparations have to be considered. He has to eat high, simple carb the night before, a high…

yes, I think my blood pressure issues are due to hypothyroidism.

Awesome! Way to go!

That's similar to what happens to me when my blood pressure drops. I have that problem when I let myself go too long without food.
