you might have problems with soy too. Try coconut milk.

I hadn't read this one yet, thanks!

Well the link explains it much better than I can, but there are studies to prove you won't go into starvation mode for one or two days of not eating all your calories. Anyone know where I got that article?

AGREED! There's a great article here on MFP about the starvation myth. I wish I knew the link. But basically it says that even IF you go into "starvation mode" it doesn't mean that you aren't losing weight, it just means your metabolism slows. Personally, I've learned to "use" them for a treat. I like a glass of wine but…

I forgot rice noodles! I use them in place of any pasta and I LOVE my homemade chicken piccatta served on rice noodles.

1. One day at a time. Log your food today. Just focus on today. If you can, take a walk today. Just focus on today. 2. Tomorrow re-do line one! 3. If you have a bad day, it's JUST a bad day. Go back and re-read line 1. I am doing the same thing. For me, I'm not good at routines, so taking it one day at a time and being…

Yes I was getting at products - things that help you stay GF/DF when the rest of the world revolves around wheat and cheese. I've been known to carry a bun with me to restaurants, lol! Especially when on a road trip. Only so many times the family will stop at subway and taco bell before they start begging for a burger. For…

Yep, I'll bet you've got the right combo there! Just make SURE you are getting protein with every meal and you should feel much better the SAME day. It's just balance. Won't take you three months!

regarding bp, me too, my blood pressure is on the low end so I actually had an endocrinologist tell me to increase my sodium/potassium if I was feeling particularly low. I have a blood pressure cuff and will sometimes take a "salt pill" if I'm feeling rotten and bp is quite low. My point is, a low sodium diet is NOT…

Just remember that sodium is not necessarily the most awful thing to get in the world. If your blood pressure is normal or kinda on the low side, a little sodium isn't going to hurt you. In fact I go out of my way to add a little "lite salt" (it has sodium and potassium in it) into my diet because my blood pressure is low.…

I have/had PCOS and had a difficult time getting pregnant but I have two children of my own now. The first was conceived after the second round of Clomid. The second child was a happy surprise! they are only 22 months apart. It's strange but after my first child I started getting a normal cycle so there is hope for those…

Yes it does sound like you got "glutened" OR it is also possible you might be having reactions to dairy. So you've got good instincts. This whole "lactose intolerance" is a misnomer. There are proteins and sugars, not just lactose (a sugar) in dairy that are hard to digest. The brownie, although gluten free, could be…

I grill it with montreal seasoning. Or I slice it really thin and stir fry it in veggies and rice noodles. I filet it, use gluten free buns and make chicken sandwiches.
-
Might I add, make sure you are getting enough protein in your evening meal. protein takes longer to digest and therefore it'll take longer before you get hungry.

Audrey try eating the oatmeal but less of it and make sure you add healthy margarine to balance out the carbs. Or better yet, boil some eggs, peel them and keep them in the fridge. Make sure you have some protein in the AM. Just think like a diabetic. Balanced meals, healthy protein and fat, easy on the carbs. It doesn't…

I eat more protein than is generally recommended and try to eat whole carbs instead of processed stuff. I also am not one of those "low fat" people - I'd rather get more calories from proteins and natural fats because it takes a lot longer for your body to break that down and gives you a longer energy source than simple…

HAHA! I wish I had that sort of thought process but I don't think it through, I just keep thinking I'm hungry. Even though I'm pretty sure all day I was just tired. But I had too many chores to take a nap. I'll get good sleep tonight and hopefully do much better tomorrow. Maybe I'll feel like getting in some extra exercise…

Ooo just went back and read some of the posts. LOVE the idea to toast it in my cast iron skillet first! I'll try that next time.

I didn't read the other posts but I LOVE quinoa! HOWEVER I hated it the first time I tried it because I didn't know what I was doing. Some quinoa needs to be rinsed before you cook it - it can have a bitter coating. The way I cook it is sort of like mexican rice. I add finely chopped garlic, carrots, onions, and celery.…

I'm artsy-fartsy. You can add me :)

Dude, you look like a different person. You were really cute in your before pics but you're right chizzled up now! I'm impressed!

Thanks Arora! That's a LOT of reading! Good thing I can't sleep :)

Thanks Mollie! I'm Tammie, BTW, the TIA is short for Thanks in advance ~ but I kind of like Tia too! I started trying to lose weight about a month ago and I'm actually up one pound even though I'm eating much better and exercising. Oddly enough it doesn't bother me though bc this is going to be a long road and I know my…

I can relate! I had a turning point and I'm definitely consuming better foods but some days ...sometimes a week at a time, I don't track. When I don't track, I over-eat. I'm also a wine drinker, cheers! But my weakness is crunchy, salty foods, not sweets. I can sit and eat a bag of potato chips real quick-like. :)

I'm in central so only an hour off. Central/east coast is easier for me to communicate with than pacific, but we make do somehow!
