I highly recommend joining one of the PCOS groups here on MFP. It's a great resource for lots of PCOS specific info!

THIS! I know everyone is different. But for me, weight really isn't important. What means more is my body's composition, my strength/endurance, how I feel, how I look in my clothes --> taking care of myself, in every way possible. That means so much more than a number on a scale! Most of the women in the 1900-1950s didn't…

Weight really isn't important to me. What means more? My body's composition, my strength/endurance, how I feel, how I look in my clothes --> taking care of myself, in every way possible. Two of my favourite quotes regarding 'weight': “If you reached your goal weight and looked like crap, would you be happy? What if you…

I try to speed walk daily. I *always* wear a backpack on my walks - never seen without one. So much so that people call me the "backpack girl" around town. Lol! I pack it full of stuff, along with a large full 1L water bottle. Make sure that your pack has a measure of support though (waist or chest straps) to take a bit of…

Wowzers! 8-)

OP – first of all, I could relate to your post and could have posted it myself, word for word. I’m so sorry you have to go through this! I work out frequently, track my calories and carbs carefully, and yet have very few pounds loss to account for all my hard work. This has been on-going, for years. I'm also extremely…

Fit it in your macros (or exercise extra to fit it in), and enjoy whatever you like!

Only IF you are carb sensitive (ie. insulin resistant, diabetic, have PCOS). Then it definitely matters. Otherwise, not really.

"Restrictive" is a relative term. It's all about perspective. Eating bacon, lobster, butter, cheese, heavy cream, coconut oil, luxurious cuts of meat, seafood, lots of green veggies... to me, that wasn't restrictive at all. But to carb addicts it may be. Eating like that really does make you feel great, once you're in it…

Eating at a reasonable caloric deficit should work just as well, so long as you don't have a metabolic issue. If you have diabetes or insulin resistance, I think South Beach is a great way to go. I have read up on it, and what I do now is quite similar (keeping my carbs at around 100g/day or under) - I need to do this due…

I have to second this... There are cases of PCOS without related insulin resistance, but they are less prevalent. I have PCOS, am insulin resistant and hypothyroid. I was unable to lose weight - despite strict calorie counting for years (eating at a reasonable deficit) and hours of exercise every day - until I started…

Unfortunately the equation is a bit more complex for those of us with metabolic disorders (ie. diabetes, insulin resistance, PCOS, etc.). I counted calories STRICTLY, ate at a 20% deficit of my TDEE, and exercised for hours at a time... did this for years, with no weight loss to speak of. Then I found out from my…

Bumping to read later! :-)

Some people can successfully control PCOS and insulin resistance with diet and exercise, alone. Other CANNOT and require medication in addition. Unfortunately I fall into the latter category. :-/ I have PCOS, insulin resistance and hypothyroidism. Despite a healthy lifestyle, I've struggled with my weight for the past…

Me too :( Even if it's just to try.

Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day! - Banana pancakes (1 banana + 1.5 egg + 1 Tblsp. almond flour) with sugar-free syrup and a side of bacon or sausage - Eggs Benni with asparagus - Eggs and bacon, one slice of whole grain/sprouted wheat toast with homemade freezer jam Wash it all down with a hot cup of tea and…

That is awesome! :) I'm hoping I'll see similar results. My bf% hasn't really changed much just yet (in April I started at 40.6% and down to about 39%). My current protein needs based on LBM are similar to yours.

This! How often one weighs in, is a personal choice and everyone is different. For me? I weigh once or twice a month (to keep my calories/macros accurate), but I regularly take progress photos, body fat %, and measurements as well. In our house, growing up, my Mother's moods were often dictated by what number she saw on…

This! I LOVE pasta, but unfortunately it doesn't love me (due to metabolic issues I need to watch my carb intake). These are the next best thing. Awesome with pasta sauce, or with stirfry veggies! Best if they're dry-fried first.

I aim for 30-35... if I get more, even better. :)

I wear my HRM when I do Kettlebell Bombshell but it includes cardio along with kettlebell moves. But you can also set up your own listing for kettlebell swings by creating an exercise. Just record the time and have it calculate 1 calorie if need be (doesn't let you record 0 cals for an exercise).

Roasted with a bit of olive oil and sea salt. AMAZING!

Fewer calories, better taste, no added sugar, more protein, less carbs. Love it!

I think the only ones who are in danger of ketoacidosis are those with type 1 diabetes.

Congrats on getting into ketosis! It doesn't really matter what food you eat, so long as your net carbs are under 50g for a few consecutive days (for some it takes longer) ... that will generally get you into ketosis. From what I've read, there's no such thing as 'degree' of ketosis but your hydration effects the reading…

Lots and lots of ginger and garlic. :)

You look terrific, girl! :)
