If you're not consuming at least 1,200 cals a day, your body will go into Survival Mode, and retain everything you have, using muscles for energy, not fat. Don't do it. You probably won't make it onto a talk show as an anorexia survivor (they don't choose many episodes like that any more), so just go with a 'healthy' diet,…

And you didn't pass that on? Why not share?

What warehouse store are you referring to? Naughty name? Costco? Sam's Club? I don't get it.

If I had to say I'm trying to follow a diet, I'd say the most likely description would be 'less carbs than before, a helluvalot more veggies than before, better protein than before, and no sodas at all, scant sweets'. Not a very marketable title.

I like healthy. And that rarely means skinny. And more important than size? Self loving and happy. If you love yourself and you're 100 pounds over, you're a lot more attractive than someone 5 over OR under who can't come to grips with the monster in their head.

I'm finding I like a lot of electronica, dance, and mashups of the same.

Way to go! Congratulations!

When I was in high school, I had a shirt that said, "I may be fat, but you're ugly, and I can lose weight".

Thank you!

My advice: confront him, and say you like him and would like to spend time with him. But he has to choose to leave the GF and be with you, or stay with the GF and quit with the attention. He can choose and will, if he wants to. Don't hang with him 'like that' if he's got a GF. Just because he's not strong enough to uphold…

I have one, but I don't think it's weight-loss conducive. I got it in Switzerland from a lovely hausfrau, and it takes at least a day to make. The more days you let it sit/marinate/fester the better it becomes. It's heaven, but not for the lithe.

Welcome, and I love your goals (sustaining yourself to see your children grow). That's good, but also get healthy so you feel better and can continue to be one who enjoys life and society. That's important. Here's to your future successes (disregard the little hiccups!)!

Welcome, and good luck! MFP is a great tool, great community. Look forward to seeing your progress!

I don't think you can actually lose weight in a target area. You can lose weight, and it comes off all over, based on how much is packed on all over. The only thing you could do in a target area is muscle growth or definition. So if that's what you're wanting, then I would do tricep- and shoulder-targeting exercises

I understand what he's saying, but it's something I've not been able to adhere to personally. The idea is that your body will metabolize the foods as you're eating them. If you are intaking things your body can use at the time, the nutrients are put to good use. If you don't need them, your body can more easily store the…

Those machines always have a 'default' user they base those numbers off of. It might not be you, so the numbers might be inaccurate.

I swear by the EatSmart digital scale. I got it from Amazon for less than $30: http://www.amazon.com/EatSmart-Precision-Digital-Bathroom-Technology/dp/B001KXZ808/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1298388046&sr=8-1

I would recommend beans and/or lentils. And then high fiber things -- vegetables. Make sure you're not eating sugars, or anything white -- bread, potatos, cereals, flour, pasta, etc. And personally, I'm discovering a virtuous circle -- the more I exercise, the less hungry I am.

How awesome is that?!?! Congratulations!! Pity we can't see the pics, but I'm guessing you're looking fanTAStic!! Way to go!!!

Welcome to the rest of your life! Here's to fighting tendencies, rebuilding better habits, and being happy with who you are! Good luck!

Blind and you do Judo? I can't imagine anything would be a challenge for you. You should teach us how to levitate.

I'm learning that the trick is to keep getting back on the horse. It's getting easier and easier to stay on now that I'm using MFP. Good job! Keep your head up!
