Soluble fiber and non-soluble fiber??
Does anyone know what the difference is, and should it matter which one I'm ingesting?

30 Day Shred -- what do I enter??
What kind of exercise do I enter JM's 30-day shred under? Circuit training? Beating-me-like-a-dirty-carpet? What do you enter it under?

No, you are not a sight to see
To the young gentleman that stood before me through my entire 3-10 set of inclined bench presses today: No, I don't want to look at you for the next five minutes. No, I do not believe you are unfamiliar with the arrangement of pulleys on the butterfly machine. No, I do not swing that way. No, I am not impressed that you…

I hate counting calories
I've never taken weight-loss super seriously because I hate counting what I eat. I hate trying to think of what I'll eat today that will fill me, be healthful, and not blow the rest of the day. Eating wasn't meant to be homework! But this hurry-up and please-me-now society we live in has made 'easy' eating such a deadly…

Stationary Bike, Eliptical, or Treadmill?
For a long time (off and on) I've been walking to work. I just joined a gym, and walked on the treadmill the other day. Great burn. This morning I spent a half hour on the stationary bike, and while I had a good burn, I didn't 'like' it. Not as much as I have enjoyed walking. I plan on using the eliptical machine tomorrow,…

Craving late-night salt
I know what's going on when I'm tired and craving sugar an hour after having a donut. But what's going on when my wife and I are watching TV at night, and we both start craving something salty?

I love you
I just returned from a funeral. I love you all. What we all do with our days is so trivial. It's who we know, and how we treat one another that truly matters. And the love and support we share on MFP is sensational. Thank you all.

Do you use a CPAP machine?
I've just picked mine up today, going to use it for the first time tonight. Have you used one? Does it help you? Did you hate it? Has it helped you gain more energy, so you can work out more? Did you find you lost weight easier with it? Or did you gain weight?

Worry Presumes Failure
I must be honest. When I started with MFP, I never felt any worry that I'd not lose weight. I could immediately see that path that would lead me to weight loss, unlike previous things I'd tried. I know I'm not going to fail, so I'm not worried. Just impatient.

Potato and Leek Gratin -- not good for MFP
I made this before I started losing weight. And it's so delicious, I had to share. I won't be eating this again until after I hit at least my mini goal of 10% (which I'm within striking distance of). When you're feeling naughty, this is a very very very tasty way to get off the path:…

Had a very tough weekend. Just about quit
I experienced the strangest thing Friday night. I gave up. I don't know why. My goals remain, but they didn't seem that important anymore. I don't know if it's because I am looking to win the two BiggestLoser competitions I'm involved in, or my head is telling me I'm going to get there. But I just....stopped counting,…

Day 2 of 30-day shred - not as bad as yesterday
I was surprised how much easier it was today. Oh, to be sure, it was still tough! But I knew what was coming. I think my subconscious was able to 'pump' me up overnight like I was going into a ring to fight round 2 and my head was my corner coach. Still sweat a bunch, still felt like oxygen had given me the cold shoulder.…

30 day shred vs. walking to work (this doesn't make sense)
Ok, I'm kinda confused. I have been walking to and from work three days a week for the last two months. I burn between 400 and 500 calories on this walk, each way. So I'm burning between 800 and 1,000 calories for the day. It's great, but it takes 40-45 minutes. I did my first suffering through the JM 30-day shred today,…

How to Make Oatmeal . . . Wrong
http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/02/22/how-to-make-oatmeal-wrong/ Quoted: "Yet in typical McDonald's fashion, the company is doing everything it can to turn oatmeal into yet another bad choice. (Not only that, they've made it more expensive than a double-cheeseburger: $2.38 per serving in New York.) "Cream" (which…

Does anyone know numbers from Zupas?
I just went to lunch with a friend, and we had some soup and salad. I asked for nutritional information, and they said they only keep track of possible allergies. Huh? What gives? Does anyone know any calorie or nutritional information from Zupas?

Kirkland (Costco) weight loss shakes
These are comparable to Slim-Fast shakes. Supposedly this can of nutrient-rich beverage is supposed to substitute an entire meal? Does anyone do this? It looks like just a beverage I would enjoy WITH a meal. Anyone know the skinny here?

HRM for big wrists?
I know this sounds trite, but I have big bones. :) I cannot wear watches that cost lest than a couple grand because ALL commercial wristbands break after a month of trying to stretch around my arm. I wish I could. My underwear drawer has five watches with broken wristbands. I'm thinking of getting an HRM, but don't want to…

Thinking about food ALL THE TIME
Is anyone focused on food all the time? I'm counting calories on everything I pass, and constantly figuring what I just had, what I'm going to have, when I'll eat after that, and what I'll have for dinner. When I was living like my normal, fat self, I never put a thought towards what I was eating or what I'd eat later. I…

How important is it to eat your burned calories?
When I do exercise, my calories for the day increases. On The Biggest Loser, they're burning upwards of 9K calories a day, and they're taking in between 1200 and 2400. So if I'm burning 300-500 calories, how necessary is it that I eat those again later on? Would it not just accelerate my loss if I stuck to my original…
