Stationary Bike, Eliptical, or Treadmill?

For a long time (off and on) I've been walking to work. I just joined a gym, and walked on the treadmill the other day. Great burn.

This morning I spent a half hour on the stationary bike, and while I had a good burn, I didn't 'like' it. Not as much as I have enjoyed walking.

I plan on using the eliptical machine tomorrow, so I have no opinion yet.

But my question is this---for those of you that use all three, which do you prefer, and why?

BTW--I talked to a friend at work who is ready for a calendar shoot, and he said that he thinks he's found the best caloric burn setup: treadmill, 12 degree incline, walking at 2.5 MPH. Opinions?

I loves the treadmill, the Elliptical I like but it takes me a few sessions to get back into it and as I do not go to the gym but train at home and do not have an Elliptical, that won't happen for a while. Regarding the bike, I am not very keen on stationary bikes, but adore cycling outside.

Treadmill at an incline is my bag! I walk at an incline then run. Walk then Run. I hate ellipticals. They make me feel awkward and with stationary bikes I don't feel I'm sweating like i should.

A 12 incline is really steep though if you have bad knees like I do that's not going to help. I walk at a 3.5 or 4 incline at 3.5 speed.
  • I'm too short to feel comfortable on an elliptical. It may be low impact, but it's not a natural movement for me. I'm starting to really love the treadmill, with an incline for my Couch-to-the-5K workouts. :)
