  • Hurray, @skippygirlsmom! I hope your new job is absolutely wonderful! Great November running, everybody!
  • It's true: if you don't aim for something, you'll hit it every time! I've got to set up a December goal and race for it! I work best when I have boxes to check off. Hmm. On another note, I'm going Saturday for my first ever trail Run! And my friend told me about a 10k trail race coming up next year. Hmmm.
  • @JessicaMcB what a beautiful piece of writing with an even more beautiful truth ringing through it.
  • Ran 3 tough miles this morning. Monday I had the bright idea to do a strength training dvd. It felt like nothing. Yesterday I was kind of sore, and after a terrible night's sleep, decided to have a rest day. This morning I got up and was even more sore. I kicked myself all the way to the track and ran anyway. Not sure if I…
  • I picked up one of those pesky critters on my Sunday walk through the woods. Didn't discover it until Monday morning. Ugh!
  • Our family decided to go Italian for Thanksgiving. Mom made spaghetti, older sister brought a meat lasagna and a spinach one. I brought my eggplant parmesan. Sides of salad and Italian garlic bread. Desserts were coconut cake, pecan pie, and Mom's messy cake. (I only had one dessert-pecan pie) Funny thing: I grew up as a…
  • *embarrassed face* Does walking count? I was sore this morning, so I got out and cleared the perimeter of our property and walked it. (needs a last mow) Walked 1.85 miles. Our woods are nice. Wonder if I could set up something for trail runs? Hmm....
  • Did my first long run since the half marathon. 10 miles! Is there a place to sign up and streak or do you just do it?
  • @RespectTheKitty - awesomeness!
  • Who needs to shop when we can run? lol. Did 5 miles down at the track. Felt Good! Temps in the low 60s. Ahhh!
  • 4.56 miles this morning. With HILLS!
  • First run this week. A cool 3 miles.
  • I am on bp meds, too. I had to half the dosage a couple of months ago (with doc's approval) because of the weight loss and running. Haven't bothered to check the numbers, thinking half a pill would be fine. I'll look at that, too, now.
  • @skippygirlsmom - I hope your job issue sorts itself out and you find yourself in a better position. Sending out positive vibes to those that are hurting/injured. Take care of yourselves! And the moose pictures are wild!!!
  • My motivation is falling along with the temperatures. Sigh. My body thermostat seems to be broken. I'm cold all the time until I have a hot flash. The thought of getting out and running amongst the frost is not appealing at all. I take a daily vitamin, so I should be getting enough iron. Is this part of menopause? Is it…
  • Didn't run this weekend. Yesterday we celebrated our grandson's 3rd birthday and today was a quiet day just to be together. Doubly precious before the crazy holiday season hits us!
  • Got up to run today since I skipped out of Tuesday. And I wanted to loosen up the legs from the fast paced run yesterday. The house and car thermometer said 40F so I dressed accordingly. But after heading down the mountain, the car thermometer read 34F. Big difference! Fortunately I haven't cleaned the car out this week…
  • We have a lovely consignment shop here in town. I love to find bargains there. I work in an office, so I can't just live in blue jeans. I feel you on the body image thing. It's hard to wrap my head around the fact that I'm no longer an 18 but and 8. It's a new me, so I'm branching out and trying new styles. I've been…
  • I'm glad it went so well, too! That nightmare seemed so real! Harvest? I forget that not everybody has to travel around like we do. I live in Somerville, work and dentist are in Decatur, church and doctor are in Huntsville, writing critique group is in Madison, and we pay our utilities and phone in Arab! I put…
  • @girlinahat I'm glad I didn't get caught with the football players, too! LOL My stride is short, anyway. No gazelle-like running for me. I'll definitely keep your advice in mind for the run. I also watched a video about trail running. They have videos for about everything these days! @skippygirlsmom ever done trail running…
  • So last night I dreamed that I showed up to the running group after sunrise, wearing blue jean pedal pushers and flip flops, and got caught in the middle of a pack of football players running in formation. Anxiety much? In reality, I woke up at 4:30 along with deputy hubby. He proceeded to get ready for work. I…
  • I kicked my butt out of the bed this morning and ran. And since the running group that I want to visit tomorrow runs 10:30 at their slowest, I thought I'd test myself. I ran 3 miles at 10:15, 9:42, and 9:40 totaling 29:36. First time ever under 30 minutes! (previous pr of 31 minutes) The downside of it is, I don't think…
  • @Stoshew71 would you know about the "No runner left behind" group that meets Sunday mornings to introduce you to and run trails? That looked interesting, too. *slants a cyber look at the trail enthusiasts on this thread.*
  • @skippygirlsmom - I joined "we run huntsville" but didn't know about the 256. I'll check them out, too. I actually live south of Huntsville - on top of Brindlee Mountain. But the only folks I know of who run up here run from the law! LOL! Hubby is with MCSO and tells me tales!
  • Gulp. I just contacted a local running group that will meet up in south Huntsville for a 6 mile run early Thursday morning. Don't know how well this will turn out. She said they usually run 10:30 a mile where my usual is 11:30. She said they wouldn't leave me behind, but.... I'll either keel over or my time might improve.…
  • Help. I'm floundering. I haven't run a single step this week. My mojo moved on. My get-up-and-go got-up-and-went. My drive took a dive. I set out to lose weight. I accomplished that and am maintaining. I set out to do C25K, C210K, and HM. I accomplished that. But I am so tired of solo efforts. Sorry to vent.
  • Bacon wrapped dates. Mmmm. Now I'm thinking about them. Drats!
