Just an update. I ran 3 miles on the 2nd and another 3 miles today, the 4th. I am "training" not "trying". Somebody pointed out the difference to me the other day, and I will remember this.

Good point. I love to fish from our little boat because water is my "happy place". Unfortunately I have to depend on my husband's days off to do that. I've been thinking about investing in a small kayak so that I can enjoy waterscapes on my own. I was a runner in the past... I ran a half marathon on my 50th birthday, after…

2187 today!

Hi, y'all. I'm back.... Lost my mojo last December, had a few false starts, pouted because my app wouldn't track me anymore, gained 10 pounds, had daughter and 3 grandchildren move into the house (thankful b/c boyfriend was abusive!) and trying to make sense of my life. Running helps. I'd forgotten that. So I signed up for…

Hi all. I've been MIA this month. I wanted to check in and say that I got my Pastor Vincent medal in the mail last night. I was explaining to the hubby about it all and got teary eyed. November has been a different kind of race for me. I signed up to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. I'm at 48, 535 right now with story…

That's reassuring since my father has heart disease and 11 stents in his heart!
-
Thanks for the replies. I try not to worry about the low heart rate. The doctor didn't seem too concerned, so I shouldn't be.

Peeping in to say I have 73.9 October miles so far. 26.1 to go. My doctor's appointment went well yesterday. My numbers are all good. He was very pleased to see my weight where it is -- he mentioned too many other patients have been huddled up and eating baked bread for the last 6 months. lol. Good news for someone about…

October miles: 63.1 (just 36.9 to go) Saturday was nice, I slept in with the hubs, went fishing and caught lots of fish, went to a friend's cookout. (don't worry, we were all distancing and wearing masks and going through lots of sanitizer. The bonfire was glorious!) Sunday we had a lovely service and beautiful weather to…

I made it to the International Space Station!

@kristinajeang Happy Belated birthday! Lunch dates with moms are more important than runs, imo. But glad you got a run in today.

Nice and cool this morning. I'm loving it! October miles: 56.8 (43.2 to go) Space Race: 245.61 (2.89 to go!) I didn't finish my Space Race on purpose this morning. I'm hoping to finish off around the Space and Rocket Center here in Huntsville. Silly, I know, but since the race was to the International Space Station, I…

Nice and cool for my morning run. Went ahead and ran 6.39 instead of my customary 5 because I didn't have to rush to work this morning. Had labs drawn for my annual physical next week. October: 53.3 miles (46.7 to go) Space Race: 242.11 miles (6.39 to go!!!)

@quilteryoyo So glad your cath went well. Hurray! This morning I had to bribe myself out of bed. LOL! I told myself the following: 1. The weather is cooler and the humidity is lower. This is good. 2. You get to start audiobook #3 of the trilogy you've been enjoying. This is good. 3. You get to wear your new Wonder Woman…

Forgot to say: October miles: 41.5 Space Race: 230.32 (just 18.18 to go!) Also, was driving back from the tournament and noticed they've put a 3.7 mile paved path along Lake Guntersville. Would love to run along that stretch of water!

@quilteryoyo Will say a prayer or three for you! I bookmarked your caringbridge page. Just know we all care for you! @skippygirlsmom - are you doing the run to Gatlinburg challenge? Not sure if my body will forgive me if I sign up. LOL @ANONYMOUS - thank you for your kind generosity to honor a kind and generous running…

So I used a solution of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and Dawn dish detergent. Followed that up with another washing with regular doggie shampoo. They both passed the sniff test when I left the house this morning. Was so glad! So glad folks here feel my life pains as well as my running ones!

So I woke suddenly to the sound of dogs barking like crazy and my husband rushing through the bedroom. "Oh no!" I pried my eyes open and caught a whiff of something. "Oh no!" Our furr-ocious dogs had cornered a young skunk in the carport, next to our bedroom. I flail around, trying to find something to put on quickly while…

@skippygirlsmom Wait! You finished the Space Race already?! Well done! I'm almost there!

October miles: 22.2 Space Race miles: 211.08 -- 37.42 to go. Friends want me to sign up for a ultra race in 3/21. 50 miles or 12 hours. Sounds crazy!
-
October miles: 16.9 Space Race miles: 205.76 I took the weekend off because my body decided it needed to recuperate. I also caught up on my sadly forsaken housework! Back at it this morning with a 5.1 mile run in the cool temps. Ahhhh. Please add me to the run across the world. Sounds fun! I haven't really had a running…

@quilteryoyo I live just south of Huntsville, AL in a small town called Somerville. We live on the outskirts of that town, on a mountain, just past the kudzu fields. LOL! Hubby and I were in Gatlinburg the week of the 14th and enjoyed every minute! Today I ran 6.42 miles October miles: 11.83 Space Race Miles: 200.66 Just…

So I just saw another virtual challenge - this one local. It's running from a local Fleet Feet store to Gatlinburg, TN. 250 miles. It starts on Halloween and goes through Christmas. That's 2 more miles than my current challenge and less time to achieve it. Wondering if I should dare to sign up.... @skippygirlsmom Did you…

Good October morning to y'all! 10/1 5.41 pushed myself and my last mile was 10:54 as opposed to the 11's and 12's I've been doing. The temp was a very nice upper 50's and I guess I was feeling frisky. LOL! @Tramboman I love to go fishing, too, but we fish for big mouth bass! We usually throw them back, but…

Coming down from the clouds.... This morning almost didn't happen because We went to bed an hour later than usual. Then there were a couple…

Sorry I didn't pop in over the weekend. Life happened. Great racing, everybody! The cake looked amazing! My Facebook memories show that I baked an upside down ginger apple pie and a pumpkin spice cake with cream cheese frosting last year. Now I'm craving sweets. LOL! I was running in 70 degree weather early this morning…
