Welcome @ndsgettingfit and @granitepeak45
This thread can move pretty fast sometimes But it's the best place for running motivation and advice (and even chit-chat).6 -

Cool shoes @skippygirlsmom! Which Brooks model are they? You know I'm a sucker for Brooks shoes!
2 -
@Scott6255 they are the Launch 8 as @Teresa502 said, I actually have a wide foot and I don't have a problem with them. As a matter of fact Skip used some fancy thing to measure my feet at Fleet Feet and she said you need a size wide.2

Welcome @shayann117 , @granitepeak45 , @ElfBodGoals and @ndsgettingfit !
@AlphaHowls I hope getting the tooth implant doesn't impact your running too much. Loosing your amazing streak would be awful. But, if you need to, don't push it. Your health is more important than a streak. Thanks for the shoe info too. I'm really surprised they are lasting that long! What do the sole of the ones you are currently wearing look like?
So sorry about your sister @katharmonic . Running for her is a great way to honor her and keep her memory close.

Hi, y'all. I'm back....
Lost my mojo last December, had a few false starts, pouted because my app wouldn't track me anymore, gained 10 pounds, had daughter and 3 grandchildren move into the house (thankful b/c boyfriend was abusive!) and trying to make sense of my life. Running helps. I'd forgotten that.
So I signed up for a local 10K race - the Cotton Row Run. That should keep me motivated. I feel like I'm starting all over. 3 miles is a struggle. Hoping to run at least 3 times a week and be ready for the Labor day race! I'm afraid to put a number to my month.16 -
Nice run @Scott6255 ! The heat does make it harder.
@WhatMeRunning Nice run. I almost always look like I've been running in the rain from sweat. Splashing through the water sounds like fun, but I'm not sure I would want to do that on my run.
@pfeiferlindsey Glad your toe is better and you are able to run.
@polskagirl01 Great run! Love the pictures of the varied landscapes you ran though.
Nice going @Teresa502 ! I've noticed you're running more hills lately. Is there a hilly race in your future, or just something you are adding into your repertoire?
Love the shoe porn @skippygirlsmom .
Golf and running....nice @Tramboman .

Thanks @quilteryoyo
Hi @WandaVaughn glad you are back. Glad your daughter go out with her children.
Welcome new folks!0 -
Welcome back @WandaVaughn ! It's good news that your daughter had the strength to get herself and her children out of that situation. Many people don't. Glad you remembered that running is good for the soul. You'll be more than ready for the 10K by September!1

7-1 2.1 miles (Hill Repeats after cutting cedars for almost 1.5 hours)
MT = 2.1/70 miles running: 1.0/31miles walking
I sat down and updated my running spreadsheet. Because of having 2 weeks off with company, I only managed to run 31.85 miles last month. I am going to try to follow the HM plan and run 5 days a week in July. If I do, the plan says I should run around 89 miles. That seems like way too much, so I am going to set my goal for 70 miles running and 31 miles walking. Besides, I know there will probably be days that I won't get to run that I plan to right now.
My wonderful neighbor offered to help cut cedar trees out of my pasture/hay field this morning. For those of you who aren't from this area, the cedars are like weeds. If you don't keep on top of them they can quickly take over. Well, I haven't kept on top of these for the last 3 - 4 years. It's beginning to look really bad. Last year, I got one section of the field done. I'd love to get the rest taken care of this year. Anyway, we worked for about 1.5 hours. I used a pair of clippers for the smaller trees while William used his electric chainsaw and then his hand saw for a while, then we switched and I used the hand saw. I also loaded all of the ones we cut into the Gator and drove them to a big overgrown ditch in the field and threw them in there. I tried to get before and after pictures, but didn't do a very good job of taking them from the same spot. Hopefully I can next time.
Part of the field before.
William cutting some of the trees
The area we finished today. If you look closely, you can see some cedars peaking over the brim of the hill. It will probably take another hour or so to completely finish this section of the field.
It was already hot when we finished. I visited with my mom for a few minutes to rest, then came home. Since I was already sweaty and I needed to take a shower, I decided to go ahead and do my scheduled run for today. I did slightly modify it. The plan called for hill repeats: 5 min Zone 1, 5 min Zone 2, 10x(30 sec Zone 5, 90 sec Zone 1), 5 min Zone1. My modifications were to only do 5 minutes of warm up and then I didn't go all out on the hills. I did go a bit faster, but didn't push it...until the last one. I sprinted it, but shouldn't have. It was just too much and I had to stop for a few minutes before doing the cool down and get some water. Garmin said it was 81°F with 66% humidity for a feel like of 83°F. But, my thermometer was showing 84°F in the shade, so I'm guessing the feels like was closer to 89°F. Also walked a mile total for warm up and cool down.8 -

So this was 2/1/2021 To Today:
And with that, I went ahead and retired those two and next ones in rotation.
Saucony Cohesion 10
Mizuno Wave Rider 22
Edit to add:
I will not lose the running streak, but potentially could lose my HM+ streak

July is Sarcoma Awareness month and I typically dedicate my running to my younger sister who passed away from chondrosarcoma in 2014. The main reason I started running was to cope with the grief of losing her and that link between her and the ways my life has changed due to becoming a runner is always on my mind. I will dedicate July again but I am keeping my mileage goals minimal this year because of work and hiking commitments. I am doing a 5k in August for the Sarcoma Foundation too. In any case, I will be thinking of Kelly and those who have fought this cancer during this month of running and supporting the cause of research to advance the few treatments available.
Thank you @polskagirl01. I appreciate it.
Thank you also @quilteryoyo
Welcome to our new group members! And welcome back @WandaVaughn!
No run yet for July. I'm off to hike in the rain tomorrow so no run then either. July is starting slowly. I'll be back to report on Saturday, hopefully with some running too!6 -
@AlphaHowls Those are getting pretty worn. Glad you have some ready to take over. Also glad to hear you won't lose your streak. I hope you don't lose the HM streak either.

July Goal: 100 Miles
7/1: 6.26 miles
6.26/109 miles completed for July
I started July off with a nice 10K. It was hot and humid at 5:30 am, but I still enjoyed the run. I really love that it is starting to get light out before I am finished. I saw the skunk again today in the same yard as yesterday. He didn't seem to notice me.
2021 Races:
4/24/21: Run For The Children 10K PR 55:46:28.
11/6/21: Run For 57th AHC Half Marathon

I'm back! Missed you guys even though I see many on Strava.
Popped in last month for the first time in about 2 years and read that Pastor Vincent died last year. I was dumbfounded and didn't know what to say. Checked his Facebook and saw it was true. So sad. He was always so supportive and funny.
After I had two years from hell 2019-2020 including Covid-19 and a mental breakdown, my running suffered and I barely could run at all.
I'm fighting my way back and hoping to do 30 km in July, though I too have the beginnings of an implant scheduled later in the month.13 -

Distance Log:
July 2: 4.58 miles
Goal: 4.58/40 miles
Wednesday was hot and humid and I actually ended up feeling a little faint afterwards, but today was much, much better (59 F and breezy.)
I can't remember if I mentioned this but I did sign up for a 5K in September! There's quite a few scheduled before then too, but every one that I was interested in conflicted with our apparently full-to-bursting calendar! I actually really wanted to do a pretty popular area 10K but that day my husband is taking our older two boys on a special trip that he planned out months ago. 10Ks are harder to come by, but I'll keep looking!8 -
7-1 4k tempo
7-2 7k tempo
July Total: 11k
July Goal: 150k
Mostly cloudy, 60 degrees F, with a fickle wind that blew from every direction. Felt good today; seem to have recovered quickly from last weekend's race.
When you pop in here claiming your December 2021 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?
PUT THE FUN BACK IN THE RUN!
Return to a good running weight of 175 lbs (second attempt)
2021 Races:
6/26 Direction Up 5k, Solon, OH 31:48 chip; 31:59 Garmin; 2d male 65 and over
7/17 Run of the Ox 5k, Mantua, OH
9/18 5k Run and Roll, Aurora, OH5 -
Rest day today from running. Our in-person fitness classes have resumed at some of our work fitness centers for those employees who have been vaccinated. I’m planning on going to yoga at lunch and then hitting the gym for some time on the exercise bike.
@quilteryoyo – I have a race coming up next Thursday at 7:00 pm. I’m signed up for The Bear race which is held during the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games. This is one of those races that sells out in a matter of hours. It is limited to 800 runners. I was signed up last year but it was cancelled due to COVID. It’s a 5-mile “challenging” run from Linville, NC to the top of Grandfather Mountain. You have to be at the 3-mile aid station withing 60 minutes or you get picked up by the sag van. According to the race site, the view at the top is breathtaking “that is if you can still catch a breath by the time you reach the top!” Once everyone finishes they shuttle you back to the start area. Hence the extra hill workouts! Those cedars are so aggressive. I think you have some pretty special neighbors!
Welcome back @WandaVaughn and @Orphia!
Hugs for you @katharmonic. I lost my only sister when she was 18 years old to leukemia.
Hope all goes well with your oral surgery @alphahowls.

I did the Wine and Dine HM a couple of years ago. It was my first HM and was so much fun! I saw that runDisney is restarting soon and I can't wait to go back. Those races are such a good time. I asked for time off for the princess HM in Feb 2022 and I'm going to try to get a registration spot. Fingers crossed.3 -

This happens to me too in the summer. I think mine is largely a vasovagal reaction to going from the extreme heat and humidity to my nice air conditioned house. I have to take laps in my house for another 5 minutes or so until my body temp comes down so my BP can slowly recover rather than plummeting. Otherwise, I just end up on the floor with my feet in a chair.4 -
Welcome to the new folks and welcome back @Orphia and @WandaVaughn
I hope you all had a good June. I had a fantastic time on vacation. The hikes we went on were beautiful and we got pretty lucky with the weather. There were definitely some heat waves across the northern Midwest but they seem to just miss us as we were moving from location to location. Once I went on vacation I mostly lost track of the thread, so I'm starting anew for July. I don't know what my mileage will be. I am going to go for my first run tomorrow morning and see how my knee feels. It gave me a few issues off and on throughout the hiking trip and I am going to make an appointment to go see an orthopedist and try to figure out what is happening.
With the heat, even if I feel like I can run regularly my mileage will not be too high. At this point, my goal is to recover and/or not injure myself any further throughout the summer. My first scheduled race right now is a half marathon in January So I probably need to start training in earnest around October or November. That should give me a few months to do what ever I need to do to get my knee back on track.7 -
5 miles this morning to start July AND hit 500, halfway to my yearly goal mileage!9

Unscheduled rest day for me today. I woke up last night to use the restroom, and wound up suddenly feeling hot, sweaty, light-headed and actually fainted. I wound up unhurt, but was a little shaken by it. This morning I didn't feel like running after that event last night but I also felt fine so I made myself do it. I actually dressed and headed out to run. But my heart rate was bouncing around quite a bit in that first 1/4 mile. So I stopped and went home. My pulse seems OK by 3 different readings (one manual). I think my HRV is high though. One indicator of that is that Garmin's body battery score stopped recharging at the time of the incident last night and started going down, even with some more sleep. The other is a pulse oximiter I have that shows a graph of my heart rate. I feel fine so I really can't explain it. But I'm just going to take today and tomorrow off and see how things go.12

Oh that's helpful, though I'm sorry it happens to you too!
I jumped right into the shower when I got home that day - so still on my feet in a hot and humid environment. When I got out I felt absolutely terrible. I ended up drinking some water straight from the bathroom faucet (in theory I know it's the same water that comes out of my kitchen tap which I use for cooking and drinking all the time, but in my head it's gross, so for me to be willing to drink it is a BIG DEAL) and left the bathroom early to collapse on a chair for a while until I felt normal again. My husband knew I wasn't feeling well because I hadn't combed my hair yet when he came downstairs, which is priority #1 for me after a shower because I have very curly hair. But I felt much better after I sipped another glass of water and rested. Our house has A/C too, but I hadn't thought to connect that to how I felt.5 -
Took it easy today - actually had a positive experience at a government office and got what I needed done smoothly in one trip! Then we took the kids to a mall (found the American footballs and a ball that might be good enough as a kickball, that we need for kids camp), had Chinese food and then went to a nearby lake for a swim and a paddleboat ride10

Errr please please get this checked out. Seriously. The need to use the bathroom followed by a faint is serious. It's a vasovagal response telling you something is wrong and I'm seriously worried. I've lost enough friends here, I don't want to lose more.
Please get checked out now. Like go to the ER and tell them what happened.
It could be a heart attack3 -
Thank you @avidkeo I actually thought about you while I was posting wishing I could ask directly.
I did call a clinic who directed me straight to the ER voluntarily or via ambulance. Wife drove me (in a panic of course).
I have to follow up with my primary doctor about all this, but the discharge diagnosis is micturition syncope.
I have a history of blood pressure at the low end of normal (97/66 today). I do not however have any history of actual recorded low blood pressure.
I also did not mention here that when I started to get up I got a cramp in my right adductor making me bolt upright out of bed and hurriedly try to walk it off on the way to the bathroom. It was still cramped up when I came to on the floor, actually.
Between the sudden standing, stress, urinating, being officially "older" now (I guess) and low blood pressure, I had a surprise date with the floor last night.
I don't feel old. I'm only 49. But I am aware of a lot of changes, I guess this is another.
I also found out that having something as seemingly unofficial as my 4 week resting HR being at 43 in the Connect app can soothe a couple nerves about my HR while just lying there in the ER with low HR alerts constantly going off.
I suppose this doesn't mean I'm in the clear until my primary doctor finishes any follow ups, but I did go in a hilly walk this afternoon with no issues. HR data looks spot on. I feel 100% now.13 -
Day two of July and no significant mileage. Nursing sore knee today. Have a 13 mile hike tomorrow so instead of exacerbating the knee I’ll play it safe for one more day.8
