Grief weight gain
I was doing pretty good maintaining until Daddy died on March 26. I started eating. And eating. Ice cream, cookies, anything sweet. I knew it was all bad for me, but I figured it was better than picking up alcohol to dull the pain. Anyway, I finally made myself step on the scales this morning. I've got work to do. It feels…

Cross posted: Bradycardia
Does anybody else deal with this issue? I went for my physical a few days ago and my pulse was 40. I'm an almost 53 year old woman, at a healthy weight, and a runner. It still seems very slow to me.

Wondering how to log it
I spent the better part of 2 hours shoveling red clay/dirt into a truck bed and then shoveling it back out into our driveway trenches. (bad rain storms lately) Should I log it as shoveling snow? I'm going to log it someway, because my wrist is weak as anything and I'll be feeling this tomorrow. Well... I have been wanting…

Diabetic dessert recipes
Family gathering on Saturday and would love to take a dessert my dad can enjoy. Thank you in advance!

It fits again!
I lost 77 pounds last year and I'm in maintenance now. On a lark, I tried on my wedding dress this past Saturday. It fits again, 30+ years later!

Pulse rate and BP
Is a consistent pulse rate of 42-49 bad when paired with a consistent bp of 150/70? I'm a 50 year old female. 5'6 and 138ish pounds. I usually run up to 10 miles during the week and I'm adding miles to my long runs on Saturdays. This past Saturday I ran 9 miles, walked about a mile to cool down, stretched for 10 minutes or…

How do I log this?
I was up and down a ladder and painted a room with a roller for 2 hours in a room with no a.c.. My wrist will feel this tomorrow! How do I log this activity?

A MFP recipe to play with....
https://blog.myfitnesspal.com/pina-colada-pops-with-chocolate-coconut-shells/ They put this up on my news feed, but I already want to play with the recipe. Instead of vanilla extract, I want to add rum flavoring. I'll leave the chocolate and almond add ons off. I wonder if I should add a bit of sweetener to the liquid…

My parents
Today is their 56th wedding anniversary! They are my first and best love story and my husband's and my inspiration. (we have 29 years) They've beaten several odds just to make it this far. A love like that should be celebrated - I raise a cyber glass and toast them!

Massage before or after a race?
I have a birthday and a first half marathon this Saturday. I would love to have a massage on the same day as the race, but they don't have any open appointments. Would it be ok to have a Swiss/deep tissue massage combo the day before or better to wait until Monday? I don't want to mess up the muscles before the race!

Last night's dessert
This is so simple and y'all may have already seen/tried it. Last night I really wanted something sweet to round out my evening so I Cored one granny smith apple, saving the top for a top - 80 calories stuffed 2 tsps of brown sugar in the hole - 30 calories sprinkled 1/4 tsp of cinnamon on that - 6 calories placed a tsp of…

Another maintenance newb afraid to let go.
I have reached my goal weight of 145. Now to maintain this! I've gone in and changed settings to lose .5 pounds a week because I'm afraid to go higher on the daily calories too quickly. Does this sound like a reasonable plan? I'm still training for a half marathon set on November 4th. (50th b'day) I probably should have…

I like this recipe!
http://fitlivingeats.com/hearty-butternut-squash-veggie-chili-vegangluten-free/ I made this on Sunday. I didn't use the jalapenos, used more chili powder than was called for, and doubled everything but the vegetable broth. I only used 3 cups instead of 4. Also bought pre-cut butternut squash to make things easier. Mighty…

A tale of woes. Witness my pity party. Or not.
I don't know where else to go with this. It's bottled up inside me. Even my ever loving husband doesn't understand. My grown daughter and two grandsons (2 and 3yo.) are living with us while she's in the process of divorcing her husband. I love them all dearly but sometimes the house gets so loud I can't hear myself think,…

Blood pressure question
In the last few years my blood pressure was in the 160's/90+'s. Was prescribed bp meds and have taken them to keep the numbers in a normal range. This year I've become active, am training for a HM, and have lost 55+ pounds. Lately I've been dizzy at weird times. Decided to check my bp. Today's morning reading (after a mug…

At what point do I need GUs, etc?
I'm training for a half marathon and so far my long run is up to 8 miles. I have to start my early morning running while fasting (meds). Up until now I've been fine to wait until the run is finished to eat something. At what point do I need to bring something along for while I run?

One year ago
It's been exactly one year ago that I had a total hysterectomy. One year ago I was at my weakest. One year ago I was putting on the pounds like crazy. One year ago I was very sedentary. No exercise whatsoever. This morning I ran 4 miles before breakfast. Working a training plan to run a 1/2 marathon in November. 50+ pounds…

I Must Be Crazy!
My original plan was to train with C210K (did) and run a 10K race in November to celebrate turning 50. BUT... Just found out that there is a race on my actual birthday. But it's not a 10K. Oh no! It's a Half Marathon!!!! Part of me thinks I'm nuts. Part of me thinks I can do it. I'm this close to signing up to run a Half…

I graduated C210K today!
Not gonna lie- I'm pretty pleased with myself! 52 pounds lost and the ability to run for an hour! 2017 is looking good!!

Any interval run training apps?
I'm looking for an app that works like c25K and c210k, but for interval running. Does it exist?

Do ankle weights benefit?
I strapped a couple of ankle weights on before starting chores this morning. Are there benefits or am I just the victim of wishful thinking?

How would you log this in exercise?
Just spent 2 hours helping hubby load and unload huge chunks of tree trunk - probably1500 lbs worth, he says. We rolled, pushed, pulled and bullied it all onto a trailer. It kinda goes beyond gardening, don'tcha think?

As of this morning
Since January 1st, I've lost 50 pounds! My goal was to lose 50 by my 50th birthday in November. I'm 4 1/2 months early. So my new goal is to weigh 150 by 50! And to run a 10k race. Wish me luck!

A couple of running questions
So, I understood only running three times a week when I first started C25K. I'm in week 12 of C210K. Is it wise to run a short mile or two on the off days, or should I wait until I've completed my program? Also, today's time: Mile1 : 13:51 Mile 2: 12:40 Mile 3: 12:30 Mile 4: 12:21 Mile 5: 12:14 5.48: 15:14 I may not be…

My 5k today!
I finished C25k on Good Friday. Ran my first race this morning. My time was 36:31. I'm 9 months post abdominal total hysterectomy. If I can do this, so can you! Keep running!

Had my first race nightmare!
First I dreamed I had trouble finding a good shirt to wear while running, then once I started running, I looked down and saw cleats on my feet! The worst part was running until I saw what I thought was the finish line. I passed it and went to get a water bottle. Somebody asked why I was there. They pointed out that the…

Big Life Change Ahead- Night shift!
My dear hubby is a sheriff's deputy and he was just told he's going to night shift, starting this weekend. (that throws our weekend plans out!) My meal planning and meal times are getting thrown out the window. Hopefully my sanity won't follow! Last time he did this, he had trouble adjusting to the dietary changes. He'd…

I'm running a 5K on Saturday! (I have questions!)
So I'm signed up for the race- first one since the one 5k I did back in 2015- and I'm excited, but I'm wondering... They say to eat/not eat as usual before a race. I usually don't eat before my training runs, but those are at 6am and the race starts at 8am and is at least an hour's drive from my home. Should I break…

Should I log new weight?
I skipped logging weight for a bit, logged a new weight yesterday. Stepped on the scales this morning and was down just short of 2 more pounds. Do I log the new weight??
