  • I'll be hitting the big 5-0 soon, myself! Congratulations on taking your health into your own hands! This community is a very helpful resource and you'll find a lot of support and information here. I wish you much success!
  • 3 more miles under my non-existent belt. The cool air was much appreciated!
  • Thanks @SueSueDio . I feel some better. I'm not fine-boned or small framed, either. I've got an hourglass kind of figure, never had a thin, athletic build at my smallest. And I'm ok with that. My husband thinks I look sexy. And after 29 years of marriage, I think that's pretty important! I saw on one site that…
  • Oh dear. Now I feel like a cow. :/ I'm 5'6, 49 1/2, and went from 214 to 149 and thought I was all that for hitting my 'goal' of 150. I weighed 140 in the 9th grade. (I remember that specifically because my bratty younger sister told the boy I was crushing on lol) I've had 2 children - one by c section, and a total…
  • I'm using the Hal Higdon HM novice #2 plan. The highest mileage will be 12 miles. But those 11 felt so hard. And I realize that there were several factors at work on Saturday. I'll keep plugging away at the training plan and fight back the self doubt...
  • Didn't get the chance to post this weekend. I did my 11 miles on Saturday. I'm ashamed to say that I walked most of mile 10 and a good bit of mile 11. Does that even count? :( My feet were bothering me at mile 8. My RL running friend suggested some exercises to help build up my arch muscles and help with the pronation. Not…
  • Hi. Long time no post. Was out celebrating the 29th anniversary - weekend 2. :-) Unlike the previous weekend, I did not get to run on Saturday. I'll be 6 miles short this month unless I can figure out how to make them up. Today was a rest day and tomorrow I'll attempt 11 miles. Happy running, everybody!
  • I wish I knew what the time limit was. Then I could steel myself through it. Seems a little open-ended to me. Sigh. How long do divorces take? I guess I could try the library, but that leaves me getting home even later, delaying supper. Unless I can come up with 100 different crock pot recipes that can be left for 10 hours…
  • Her idea of cooking involves a package of alfredo noodles and maybe a can of chicken or frozen corn dogs or, well, you get the picture. She mostly gets the toys picked up in the living room. The hall bathroom is a disaster. I'm glad hubby and I have a master bath that we can use. Why doesn't she load the dishwasher, etc? I…
  • Work has been busy busy today. My first chance to post. Did my 3 miles this morning - much better than my run yesterday, thanks for asking. ;) My last mile I played with speed a little and wound up doing a record (for me) mile- 9:50. Woohoo! So my September miles are 41/92. Onward...
  • Did my 5 mile run this morning. It felt slow and hard, one of those mornings. And because it felt so hard, I'm now wondering what in the world I was thinking to sign up for a half marathon. Part of me reminds myself that on Saturday I ran 10 miles. I can do this. But the clouds are low, it's drizzly, and I really could use…
  • Did 3 miles after work, today. It was a wet, windy, woeful run.
  • Just a quick stop in. We've been celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary this weekend down in Gulf Shores, AL. Came back a day early. Hard to tent camp in building winds! The state park has lots of lovely trails and my understanding hubby ran the first 2 miles of Saturday's 10 mile long run. A lot of the trail was shaded,…
  • This challenge board is full of celebrities! I'm honored to be a part of it all. This morning was a nice cool 3 mile run. Don't tell anybody, but.... I fartlekked during my last mile. Tomorrow is a rest day. Saturday I'm supposed to do 10 miles. Not sure where I'll be Saturday. Things could get very…
  • @7lenny7 I got my shoes at Academy Sports. Not sure of their return policy and the shoes have about 31 running miles on them now. I definitely need thicker socks. Not sure about wool, either! And seeing the Northern Lights with my own eyeballs is on my bucket list! @skippygirlsmom Speed demon? Haaaa! (but thanks for the…
  • 59 glorious degrees this morning when I went out to run! I did my 5 miles and felt great! I'm praying for my family and friends down in Florida! I'm glad hurricanes give folks some heads up. Our tornadoes happen with little or no warnings!
  • Better late than never Got my 3 miles done after work today. And.. I broke the 10 minute barrier. 9:58!!!
  • My alarm didn't go off this morning. I'll have to get my run in this afternoon. The weather reports say either rain or rain and Thunderstorms. Urgh. This is the Mondayest Tuesday I've had in a while!
  • My 50th birthday is this November, too! Gonna do a half marathon for my half century-ON my birthday! Just curious. Are there any things that you want to do before you hit 50? Or when you hit 50? Like a mini bucket list. I have the feeling I might do something crazy. Just not sure what yet.
  • Checking in so I'm not so far behind on posts later. Today called for 60 minutes cross training. Did an hour on the stationary bike.
  • Ran 9 miles this morning. MTD: 9 Had issues with my new shoes. They've been fine for my 3-5 mile runs. This morning they about killed the ball/pad of both feet. Pain started at mile 7. Wound up walking part of the last mile. I don't know what to do. I've no money for another pair of shoes. I've had these for 2 weeks and…
  • 9/1 - rest day. Kind of glad, because we're getting rain and some stiff winds around here. Should be much better for tomorrow's long run.
  • Somebody mentioned peanut butter and melted cheese sandwiches? My daughter used to do that and it grossed me out! But when *I* was a kid, I'd eat cold leftover spaghetti, salad, and French dressing sandwiches. Grossed my mom out. Guess fair's fair! I would also mix my pintos, mac and cheese, and corn up on the plate and…
  • Count me in! As I said way back in August, I'm training for my first half marathon on November 4th - my 50th birthday! I'm following the Hal Higdon half marathon novice #2 plan. So. September's goal is 92 miles! (did I just type that?!!)
  • Did my 3 miles this morning and completed this month's goal and training plan. On to September!... @skippygirlsmom - so proud for both you and your daughter!
  • This is the plan that I'm following. As I said, I'm in week 7 now. http://www.halhigdon.com/training/51312/Half-Marathon-Novice-2-Training-Program According to the plan, I'm supposed to find a 10K race to run in 2 weeks. Unfortunately, I'll be out of town. No racing for me. So I'll already have to alter the plan some. Just…
  • My plan changed my midweek run to five miles as of today. Did it! And tomorrow is 3 miles. I will hit my goal, following my plan! Hurray! September will have a dilemma. I started earlier than 12 weeks to get ready for the HM on 11/4. I'm in week 7 now. Should I repeat week 11 over and over again when I get there until I…
  • Foggy morning run today. Did 3 miles. Tomorrow starts my 5 mile midweek runs. Progressing.
