  • That's super helpful, thank you- if it's alright with you I'd like to use those logs as examples in a presentation, with no identifying information of course. Most of my patients spend a lot of the time in the hospital so it can be hard to give real-life examples of how we emotionally eat in times of stress. They're…
  • This is great you guys, thank you so much for the responses. I'm figuring out if there's a good way to organize this for data purposes but keep em coming if you're willing!
  • I've been on here a couple months but I want to up my motivation too, I'm starting to peter out on enthusiasm. We're looking to lose about the same amount- I'll send you a request!
  • Cheeso, check. Wino, check. I keep a ruler in the kitchen for portioning cheese. No foolin'. Also I like reduced fat single serves, and nonfat or lowfat Greek yogurt. The yogurt helps with general dairy cravings: cream cheese, ice cream, sour cream, etc. Also there was a study somewheres that correlated 16 oz of low or…
  • I don't like how MFP sets default macros. I try for at least 100 grams of protein a day, ideally about 30% of my calories but I have trouble hitting that mark on high activity days. I try to keep carbs below 45% a day, and the rest winds up being fat. It's been working pretty well so far. I try to avoid butter and not go…
  • Nice! And so close to halfway there!
  • I like platforms cause I can get in a little extra height. Max is 4" but to be honest they just hurt my feet and I walk funny. Easier at 2" or 3". But I love being taller than everyone. I bike everywhere and it's pretty easy to bike in heels, easier even when you're stopped at a light, but it never fails to elicit…
  • Caffeine can make you sweat, as can a host of emotional reactions. Unless you've developed a sudden crush on some dude at the gym, I'd look for changes in your diet, hydration, and timing of your workouts. Luckily we track all our nutrition so that's a good place to look for clues about changes. Me, I sweat like an iced…
  • Very helpful and reassuring, thanks! I've done all sorts of diets and things in the past, but this time around I'm much more in line with your way of thinking. You confirmed my research so far and filled in some important gaps. Thanks!
  • I've been mulling this over as well. I've been over 175 for the past ten years- I hit 168 before my junior prom, but that was with Atkins and, well, it sucked. Based on different calculators and such I'm shooting for 163 in theory, but I'm not so sure I feel like I need to lose another 17 pounds. I'm gonna keep that as my…
  • Nicely done, 5Kers! I can't wait till i'm down to 30 min. Today I got my time down to 45 minutes today off of 50 a week ago. Also, as of today down 5 lbs from one month ago. Woop woop.
  • ummmm silver fox much? nicely done ;)
  • Nicely done. Sometimes it's those little things that keep us going even more than pounds and inches. My boyfriend's garage has this heavy gate on wheels and I used to flail around like an idiot trying to get it open- now I just roll it right open like a normal person (usually. there's still some intermittent flailing :)).
  • Thanks guys, this was so helpful! I'm planning to ask for a Fitbit for Christmas and didn't realize it wasn't also an HRM. So the BodyMedia is both an HRM and a pedometer?
  • Oops, someone else got to her first. but 9 for the funny teeth, and 9 for sophie, you're a doll!
  • One more reason to get a food scale...
  • Great idea, thanks!! I too believe that natural sugar should be counted differently. I do try to eat fewer servings of fruit per day than vegetables, just to keep it even on that score. Based on your great tip, I just created a food for the database that does what you suggest. It's called 'naturally occurring sugars' if…
  • this thread is awesome. i do vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a little maple syrup (i can't stand stevia so i do maple/honey/agave for my sweeteners). noms. has anyone tried adding chia seeds? i'm still experimenting with those, haven't quite figured out what i like yet, other than putting them in smoothies but it's so much…
  • Bump! I'm on the hunt myself, spacebean, since 15 minutes ago when I noticed that my Eating Right meal has 29% of my sodium, and I added salt to it! Roops. I will post here if I find anything good.
  • Sorry, I can't concentrate on your question, all I can do is look at your profile pic and think about how much I want a beer... Ahem. What about a mexi-bowl? Brown rice, chicken breast, beans, greek yogurt, tomatoes, lots of hot sauce. Should be under 1000. Maybe even a little cheese. Mmm, cheese...
