  • I think what would have saved all the butthurt on this thread is if you had included the word "always" between "doesn't" and "ruin" and had used the word "can" instead of "will" before "bounce back quickly." "Pregnancy doesn't always ruin your body and you CAN bounce back quickly" followed by your pictures is a very…
  • I learned a month or two that honey is not vegan. I guess I could never technically be a vegan because I use local honey so much. I'm really glad you and your husband are living such healthy lifestyles! Tofu is so yummy, but I have read a lot of information that it's not so good for you. Even if you get organic tofu,…
  • I've gathered a ton of information on how to improve your health, and I am trying to share some of that information with others. If you don't like it, move on.
  • Would buying these products from local farms make you feel better? I get my eggs at farmer's markets, which come from Mennonite farms in my state. They are delicious. I have sources that can help me get raw milk from local farms, but have not pursued it since I don't ever drink milk. Anything I need milk for to cook I now…
  • I don't get the adverse reactions to these two comments. Do you not think that stimulating your brain is good for your health? Last time I checked, the brain controls all functions of the body, so keeping it healthy can only have positive results on the rest of your body. Makes sense to me.
  • Attacks on vegetarianism, not me. I'm a big girl, I'm not going to report people for expressing their opinions. I get it, you are a huge proponent for meat, and that is fine. I congratulate you on the weight you've lost and the health improvements you've made. If you eat as much meat as you claim you do, I just hope it…
  • I don't know why they get defensive, either. While it's annoying, it mostly makes me laugh.
  • You are correct about that. Sorry about your anemia. I have had trouble with protein levels too, but have recently gotten it under control by eating nuts, avocados, spinach, and the more fruits and vegetables the more protein you get. Good luck to you!
  • I love your story! Thank you so much for sharing! I bet we have watched some of the same documentaries. They are heart breaking but so important to know the information. Right now I am reading The Food Revolution and it's very good. I hope to be at your level one day. Removing meat from my diet helps with my GERD, which…
  • I'm glad you brought that up because it's true, and I wanted to get into that originally but my post would have been too long. When removing meat from your diet, it's best to focus on vegetables, fruits, legumes and other whole foods otherwise you are just eating junk food.
  • I'm sorry that your sister went through that. I imagine going vegan so suddenly would be very difficult. Yes, a more balanced approach would not only benefit her health but help her gradually become vegan, if that is what she really wanted. I really hope she is doing well now.
  • Anytime a scientific study is conducted, it's important to research who funded the study. If meat industry affiliates funded, conducted and reported the study, and the results conclude that meat is good for you and absolutely no adverse health effects are caused by it, then common sense should tell you that it's biased and…
  • Why wouldn't weight loss be a good reason? Isn't weight loss most people here's goal? Doesn't weight loss lead to reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, hypertension and other issues?
  • I find more often than not that the arguments/discussions I get in about eating meat are started by those who eat it, not the other way around. I wish I could mind my own business and just eat my vegetables without people getting in my face about it. By posting this thread I know I'm asking for it, and I'm not surprised by…
  • I started this thread to help people who are struggling with their health to think outside the box, not to preach. It's more of a "Did you know?" than a "You should do this," which I don't want to do. Sorry if you interpret it that way. At the end of the day, I respect everyone's choices, regardless of how bad or good they…
  • I feel the same way about animal cruelty and the guilt I feel when eating meat is one reason I'm removing it from my diet. Unfortunately, the dairy industry plays a huge role in the animal cruelty that goes on, and if you're unaware of it I would encourage you to do some research on that.
  • Thanks to everyone who replied :)
  • I have an idea for you. Since you've conquered removing meat from your diet, take it to the next level: remove cheese. We often forget that cheese is an animal product and every bit as processed and non-beneficial to our health as the meat itself. If you just challenge yourself one day at a time, hell one meal at a time,…
  • I'm really glad to hear you enjoy it and that you accept your slips. I have them as well but the best thing to do is just move on and try again. Focusing on the negative never helps anyone reach their goals.
  • I agree. Mindlessly eating whatever is in front of you can easily add on pounds. When you have to "hunt" a little more for your food, you are using your brain and thinking critically, which is also good for your health! :)
  • If you don't have any knee or ankle injuries, try jumping rope. You can burn a lot of calories in a short amount of time, and it uses almost every muscle in your body. Try walking at your fastest speed for 5 minutes, then jump rope for 1 minute, alternating for about 30 minutes. You will burn a ton of calories and should…
  • Start using coconut oil to cook everything. Processed foods are not healthy or even really food. Focus on buying ingredients, not meals. Don't buy a pasta dish, but the veggies, sauce and pasta and make them yourself. It will be cheaper, healthier and taste better. The best way to learn how to cook is to just experiment…
  • Could you use local honey? Btw, I would love that recipe!!
  • I believe you retain water when menstruating.
  • Okay first of all don't ever let anyone tell you that this is just how the real world is because that is absolutely not true!! It's YOUR world and what that entails is completely dependent upon your choices. Either change your situation or change your attitude, otherwise NOTHING will change. Is it your fault that the…
