If you love cold oatmeal, then you will love refrigerator oats. I personally found them so nasty I couldn't even eat one spoonful. My suggestion is to try one recipe (only make one, not a batch) and try it. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE oatmeal.

I did one of these workouts on Pinterest and it claimed to burn 1000 calories. it was 6 different exercises done 7 times. I burned 250.

Oh boy, I wish running was fun!! Could care less about calf muscles!! LOL! I will give you the cardiovascular fitness though ;)

Why would you use mapmyrun to log Insanity? Are you running??? What are your height/weight stats and how long did you workout. I wear a heart rate monitor so I could give you a good estimate if you and I are close in size.

I still don't understand why this concept is so hard for people to get! I totally agree with this poster I just quoted!

I totally just came on this site to find answers to this same problem! I'm in week 5 of my 1/2 training and I've gained 2.8 lbs. I'm about to lose my sh** b/c I was really hoping to drop at least 10 lbs over the course of 12 weeks! I'm only up to 8 miles in my training and I'm really discouraged to the point that I may…

Any recommendations on where to set calorie needs for someone training for a half marathon? I'm 5'5" 160 and am in week 6 of my program. 39 years old. I have it set at 1567 currently and am not losing anything! I'm not gaining either though. When I run, I am starving!!!!

^^^^ This! Veggies have carbs---it would be impossible to eat no carb unless you ate just meat all day.

You would have to be lifting a whole lot, for many hours a day to gain muscle that quickly. You are most likely retaining water due to the swelling of muscles, but not gaining muscle weight. It will even out. Check our sodium intake as well. I know if I go over the recommended amount of sodium, I'm up a pound or two each…

Not trying to be mean AT ALL here but how does one burn this many calories, gardening, cooking, laundry, cleaning and piddling around??? Do you just wear your heart rate monitor around all day??? I'm fascinated!

If you are losing, stay where you are. If you aren't losing, try upping it. It may take time to figure it all out. I know the website www.scoobysworkshop.com has a great calculator. Good luck!

I cannot give up my International Delights!

Also, if you are going to eat that low of calories, you need to eat back your exercise calories!!! What are you netting each day?
-
Yes, your calorie goal sounds way too low for a man. I mean, I'm a woman 5'5" and 159 lbs and i get 1567 a day! I am also following a running plan. You should go to runnersworld.com and look at their section on calories to determine what you should set yours at!

I normally wouldn't worry too much about losing the weight but I signed up for the race the same month that I'm in my sister in laws wedding! I NEED to drop at least 10 lbs!
-
Not sure that's possible at all. I remember Jillian Michaels saying that it would take months and months of hard-core training with tons of weights to add that much muscle!
-
Half Marathon in October!
-
I sign myself up for races so it forces me to at least run! Can't run the race if I haven't trained! LOL!
-
I make a quinoa/oatmeal breakfast bake with fruit and cut it up into servings, throw into tupperwares and heat up each morning. Makes it quick and easy!
-
I LOOOOOVE oatmeal! I normally just buy the regular oats and cook them with coconut milk (So Delicious Vanilla Coconut milk) Gives it a little sweetness without all the added sugar. You can add whatever you want to it! I normally mush up a banana in the bottom of the bowl and add the oatmeal. I do blueberries sometimes…

Unfortunately without a chest strap (which I thought I would hate as well, but don't) you will probably have to just guess-timate! Could you return it for a chest strap model that's more accurate???

Pretty soon we'll find out that organic food causes cancer too so I don't believe we can win! Water will cause cancer, etc. etc.

Open up your diary and we can maybe give you tips on what you're eating/not eating. More than likely you aren't eating enough or your exercise is putting you below 1200 cals a day which means you are probably holding onto the weight. So many theories out there.

Woohooo! Thanks girl---39!!!
-
Nobody guessed me!
-
I can't really see you so I'll guess 40????
-
Oh and I forgot, I'm 5'6" and 159. I was eating 1410 a day and eating back exercise but haven't lost a lb in a week doing that. I workout about 30-40 min a day on the elliptical or treadmill and ZERO loss.
-
My opinion is 1200 calories is way too low for most. That being said, I don't have the answer! LOL! I'm currently researching this TDEE -15%, 20% situation. www.scoobyworkshop.com for the calculator. There's a whole detailed post on here about calories and the TDEE. (Total daily expenditure, yada yada)
-
Wow! That's a huge change in 30 days and 8.8 lbs!
-
I believe the program is set up so you lose a lb a week, regardless.
