yikes. 1) doubt you're eating enough 2) certain you're not meeting your nutritional needs.

Doesn't have to be ice cream, but the idea is just eat something else - ANYTHING - that is calorically dense enough to bump you up to at LEAST 2500 cal. Ice cream, chips, pizza, whatever. Doesn't matter what it is, just hit 2500 and see how that goes.

samesies. If I'm not eating 3200+ cal a day I don't gain jack, and even that is really slow.

i assume we've established that potatoes are good, yes?

that'll really encourage her to keep exercising  true though.

Both. Natural is preferable to me as well, but in the winter I supplement with D3, and on any days I don't get outside much in the spring/fall/summer. Otherwise omega 3s and B12 are my other regular supps.

When I start working out a lot consistently, if I don't IMMEDIATELY shower after my workout and exfoliate and leave enough time to let the sweat and grime dry into my pores, I'll experience some breakouts. Same if I wear the same workout clothes a couple times without washing them. Gross. So that's something to think…

For people not interested in athletic performance you are correct. Good article, thanks for posting!

agreed.

easy (for you) and unsustainable long-term.

A lot, honestly. this 1200 cal thing is the biggest flaw in MFP's website and it's a travesty. No other way around it. It puts SO many people on the fast track to failure because they just don't know any better. It's not their fault, it's this site's. You shouldn't be eating below 1200 calories. Period. Sorry if this comes…

No doubt you've lost significant weight, and that's awesome. But your loss will stall out. That's a guarantee. And when it does do you have a plan? If you're ok with being "done" at that point then who is anyone to argue. Your happiness is the real goal here. But if - when you reach that point - you decide you want to…

this is completely backwards. on the days you work out you need to be eating MORE. the end.

CSAs are the greatest thing in the world

Copied from the other 1,200 cal thread running right now: Regarding 1200 cal diets: You'll drop a bunch of weight fast, then you'll stall out and stop losing, which is what causes many of the 1200 cal dieters to give up and gain it all back because "what else can I do!?" If you choose to follow this advice just make sure…

this x 1000

you got it!

absolutely! good luck!

GOOD! This is GOOD. It's your metabolism doing what it's DESIGNED to do! Hit a calculator, find your TDEE, and then gradually work your way up so you're eating at ~500 calorie deficit from your TDEE and you'll be golden.

So here's the dealio. Is it TECHNICALLY possible to gain muscle while on a deficit... technically yes but in very small amounts and incredibly slowly. Your best bet is to eat at maintenance (or your TDEE) and lift heavy so that you build muscle. Once you've built some muscle your body's metabolism will rise because of the…

agree 100% man. well said.

Not sure I'd combine the two.... although I've never tried it so I can't safely say either way. Let us know what you decide! Love squid ink pasta though. Delish.

Actually many indian/filipino/eatern asian men are genetically incredibly skinny and hard gainers. While I wouldn't rule out seeing a doctor (always good before embarking on a fitness regimen), it's all going to be about food and LOTS of it. The exercise part doesn't even matter at all until he puts some weight on. In fact…

(that's an emoticon) Thanks you too! (so is that)

scroll up to see where the emoticons originated. but whatever, enough with the unnecessary, manufactured drama - no one cares - back to the topic: SPARTAN RACE! Stoked.
