  • I feel exactly the same way! After spending some time with Jillian and her 30 day shred, in which my 8 pounders often felt like torture, I definitely feel like I'm going to have to bump up the weight for some of the P90X videos. I'm debating between buying 10s or 12s, because I can always use bands if the 12s are too…
  • Also wanted to add - good job, Mark for completing YogaX!! I can't believe how much I struggled through that! If I hadn't read somewhere on MFP that the first 45 minutes were the worst, I might have given up after about the 1 millionth vinyasa.. eek I did feel super stretchy and good the day after though, so I'm not going…
  • I'm so glad I found this thread! I just finished my first week of P90X-lean and I feel great! I can't believe how much fun Kenpo-X was - definitely my favorite workout in a long time! Anyways, I just have a quick question for all of you. I read on one of the message boards here that you wouldn't need a pull-up bar until…
  • Moisturizing stopped this from happening to me! It used to burn sooo bad!! I have really sensitive skin, so cutting down on harsh face washes and using a GOOD moisturizer made all the difference for me!
  • If you search the message boards you will see that there are many people here with PCOS, so you are definitely not alone! The most important thing to remember is that you won't lose weight the way a normal person will, but that doesn't mean it isn't impossible, so don't get discouraged!! It just takes a little more time…
  • I don't run much anymore after I slipped on the ice and pulled a tendon, but I used to pick a super fast rap song and try to know all the words by the end of my run :) Keeps your mind busy!!
  • I thought I'd hop in here and ask a question about p90x as well! Does anyone have any thoughts on doing classic versus lean?
  • I was going to start it on the first, too, but it came in the mail on Friday and I just couldn't wait :) I've only done the first two days of the lean plan, but i LOVE the workouts!
  • I think this sounds like a great idea! Any ideas for a weigh-in day fellow Amazons?
  • Also, speaking of low carbs, does anyone know of any diets/resources for tips and information? I don't even know where to begin to cut them out of my diet! Help!

  • First I just want to say - DON'T LOSE HOPE. I have PCOS and I have lost 81 pounds so far with exercise and calorie counting. I have hit a plateau recently and someone recommended MFP as a source of information and support. I've never experimented with counting carbs because, well, I love my carbs! I'm lucky if I…

  • I'm pretty close to 6' and right now I'm 209 with a pant size of 14. I haven't taken measurements for a while, but I'll do that when I'm motivated and report back! I'm aiming for a goal of 170 for now!
  • Last weigh in: 210.2 New weigh in: 209.6 Lost 0.6 lbs. Considering what I've eaten the last week, I'm ecstatic to be there right now :) Cardio - 4/7 days Water - 6/7
  • Wasa light and fit crackers ( 3 crackers for 60 cals!) with light cream cheese and celery on top. Amazing! :)
  • There is an adjustment period as your body tries to figure out how to live on fewer calories and more activity, so it could very well be that. Also, you maybe you are losing weight too fast? It seems like a lot of people try and lose 2 pounds a week, which maybe is too much for some people to lose at a time, especially if…
  • Excellent, I'm excited to have this kind of support support system! I'll post a little bit more about myself tomorrow, but today was the first day of me quitting caffeine cold turkey and even though it is only 8:30, I'm beginning to feel a withdrawal headache coming on and it seems like my best option is to not even fight…
  • I'd like to get in on this! I was losing weight pretty well without MFP but my story is pretty similar to yours! Post running- related injury that kept me inactive for a few months, I started gaining weight back way too quickly! That's when I found MFP, which I've been working with since around thanksgiving. My motivation…
  • Thanks for the advice and support everybody! You all confirmed my suspicious that this will be a difficult task. I had two cans of Cherry coke left in the fridge so I actually poured them down the sink just to prove how serious I am about this!
  • Yikes, I'd say find a new doctor!! Sounds like there might really be something going on. Otherwise, I sometimes have knee pain if I start working out after a long hiatus, but I usually get pretty good relief just by icing them when they are sore and MAYBE popping an anti-inflammatory after a workout.
  • Do you have a TV in your workout area, or a laptop to watch DVDs on? Then you could try some of the home workout DVD systems like Jillian Micheals 30 day shred, Barry's Boot Camp or p90x if you haven't already. Seems to be doing good things for the people around here!
  • A workout can boost your immunity. Just don't push yourself to exhaustion and listen to your body. As someone already mentioned, symptoms above the neck are generally a green light for exercise while anything lower means take it easy. Just be sure to wipe down your machine with disinfectant stuff super good to not spread…
  • Oops, I feel like I should probably specify what yaktrax are in case anyone is interested. They are just a stabilizer that you slip onto your shoe when you run and can take off again right after. http://www.yaktrax.com/
  • I'm not sure about running shoes, but I used to run when I was living in Iowa and Minnesota and Yak-Trax are definitely a big help in the winter! I just moved out to Colorado and am about to take up running again after a tendon strain and am putting yak-trax on my list right after a nice pair of running shoes!
  • Nope! This is a go at your own pace type of plan! You could do it as a walk, a run/walk or a straight up run. I'm definitely not winning any speed awards, but the first time I finished this I started at a 12-13min/mil and it wasn't long before I was running 28min 5ks. Nothing too spectacular, but a huge improvement for me…
  • I've got to get over my all or nothing attitude and remember that a little splurge does not mean my whole day is ruined! Instead of working off the 250 over my goal that sent me into a tailspin, I've not got an extra 2000 to work off. Eek. Fun week ahead!

  • I eat back half or 2/3 and that seems to work for me. I always assume MFP and the machines overestimate calories burned (I want a HR monitor or a body bugg so bad!!), so I try really hard not to eat them all.
  • LOL, me too! But for me it was a little more than a "bite" here or there, it was all out mayhem. I also didn't get my exercise in because I felt like a beached whale with a carb hangover when it came time to hit the gym. Yikes. The way I look at it, however, is that I should be extremely motivated this next week knowing…

  • I agree! I eat 1900-2100 calories a day and unless I eat out or eat frozen/prepared foods, I'm usually below 2,000 g sodium. The fresher the food the better! I'll admit my diet isn't very balanced because I'm a grad student who needs to pay rent before I pay for groceries, but Imy staples are oatmeal, PB on crackers/toast,…
  • I am exactly the same way. I have gotten better because I'm in a better place in my life, but I still struggle. I noticed that since Thanksgiving I have been struggling a lot with binging so I finally bought a book called overcoming overeating. I'm following the plan outline by Dr. Fairburn and focusing less on calorie…
  • I think there is a new group in the fitness section of the message boards to people starting the shred this week, so you should definitely check it out! I started last week and lost 3 lbs the first week, and this from someone who just finished 3.5 weeks of barrys boot camp which includes anywhere form 21-60 minute…
