i do it every year during the lenten season (approximately 6 weeks) for religious reasons, not weight loss. a side benefit is that it does keep me mindful of what i eat the rest of the week.
-
obviously, i do it wrong. i did a half in january and febraury, a 15k in march, and a half in april, may and june. lol. the may and june ones were only 2 weeks apart. the rest of the summer i am doing 5k's and 10k's working towards my september ragnar of 17.4 miles broken up over a 24 hour period. oh and i'll be doing a…

advice from hal higdon on facebook: TIP OF THE DAY: There are three ways to improve as a runner: 1) run more miles; 2) run what miles you run faster; or 3) continue to run the same number of miles at the same pace, assuming consistency will allow you some improvement. It will, but the other two routes maybe offer a more…

I have a gym membership. The only time I ever go is to use the treadmill (I do other fitness things [boxing, yoga, cycling, swimming, hockey] at other places) and there are times that it doesn't work for me to make it there during business hours so I would like my own treadmill at home.
-
Thank you! This was very helpful!

I know. I bought a very cheap one for $100 that I sold after a few months and a mid-quality one for $550 that I had for a year but just wasn't cutting it anymore. :)
-
I run outside and love it, but I also have times that I want to run on a treadmill. Bad weather, long runs and when I am cramped for time or not feeling great come to mind. Also late night runs when the gym is closed.
-
That is a concern of mine as well.
-
I honestly don't have my mind made up about this treadmill. Only that I want a commercial grade treadmill. I had mentally set a cap of spending $1000 and that extra $100 makes a difference. Also having to borrow money from my husband does not thrill me. I do have another treadmill for $950 that I am looking at, but I do…

Because I am a fair weather runner. I don't run in the snow, rain, wind or high heat. :) Plus, my long runs (10-17 miles) go better on a treadmill that controls my speed.

even using ben gay, i whine. whining makes me feel better; whining is medicinal. :)

it's probably bad that i actually like the smell of ben gay, right? :) but eucalyptus epsom salt would be awesome. i will have to looks for that!

i don't eat a lot of bread (just don't like it) but i make one loaf a week for my family from a recipe that requires no kneading. i think the recipe is actually called 'no knead bread'. i make it in an enamel stock pot. it is simple, with less than a half-dozen ingredients. our version includes beer for making it more…

i could only run 4 of the one minute intervals the first day i started the couch to 5k program. i spent 4 weeks repeating week one. i also spent 4 weeks on week four and 2 weeks on week 6. it took me 16 weeks to complete the 9 week program. i ran the 5k i was training for... and gave up running. until i realized i missed…

awesome book. my son had to read this for school, so i reread it with him. also enjoyed rereading 'where the red fern grows'. another childhood book i love is 'watership down' by richard adams. i think i have six copies of it.

poison princess by kresley cole. (not a fan of her other books) hush, hush by becca fitzpatrick. strange angels by lili st. crow.

i think 400 calories a slice would be a good estimate to use, so probably 3200ish for the whole thing. i have found that switching the crust to a thinner style does not reduce the calories as much as one would think.
