I have this too... not only my thigh, but my foot and my boob on that side are also bigger :) Apparently it's pretty normal during embryonic development and carries over into adulthood...

Personally, I am just trying to limit added sugars rather than natural ones. Sugar is in milk, fruit, you name it... but unless you seriously eat a ton of fruit, it's probably OK!!

I love your teeth! I look ridiculous when I smile lol [/quote] Well thank you! I have braces to thank for that :D

ah, there we go. In my jammies.

That was so interesting! Thank you for sharing!

The HRMs have a "transmitter" on the chest strap that transmit the heart rate info it's recording to your watch. So it's being suggested that someone else's heart rate could transmit to others' watches, but as others have noted, they're coded so that this doesn't happen.

I found a $5 bill on the sidewalk! :)

Definitely! so is cardio. It gets all that excess energy out and leaves you pooped and endorphined up :) A great way to blow off steam!

Maybe you can make your own meals, considering that you're living with him and not just visiting for a weekend. Explain it in medical terms - it's not a personal thing, it's not that you don't like his foods, but you need to cut down on carbs for medical reasons, and then make yourself lots of healthy veggies and proteins.…

Iced cappuchinos with whipped cream... I used to have one daily, even in the winter.... the lady would start getting it ready when she saw me coming :) I don't think I've had one in 6 years now!

Corn is not a vegetable - it's a grain! That's why :)

that sounds amazing!!

I remember having this exact same revelation when I was learning to cook and count calories... :) It happens! But at least you've learned!! :)

Yes, veggies absorb oil! try to use only the amount of oil you want to include in your food diary!

Is it possible that the machine isn't right? I've had a few machines give extremely wrong, way wonky HR. When you're working out, check your pulse manually and see if it's really that high!

Agh, that's tough! I don't really know what you could say to make her feel better - if I were in her shoes, I don't think anything anyone could say would cheer me up immediately. But you may have lost more weight because you had more to lose... but I think the main difference is just the different physiology between men…

You could.... I would think that it's a mile you wouldn't have walked if you didn't go to the gym, so it's included in the "gym" activity :)

Do you have your goals set to lose 2 lbs a week? Maybe 1000 calorie deficit a day is too much, especially since you're only trying to lose 20 lbs (and you seem quite active!) maybe set it to lose 1 lb a week, where you eat a bit more during the day. I for one cannot get by on 1200 calories but I lose weight quite well when…

mmm, now those sound like some good breakfasts!! I love eating big breakfasts, but I don't usually get as much protein at that meal as I should!!

I am totally the same way. It's one thing if there's something in the house that I'm trying not to eat, I'll try to get my husband to eat it. And if I throw a party, I love to have way too much food for my friends. I'm a 'nurturer' that way! I"ll always bake cookies for my friends or coworkers. I also use food to represent…

My HRM also tells me I burn more than the machines, but not by that much! That is a huge difference, but do you enter your weight into the bike too? Do you know if the heart rate that it's detecting is accurate (by taking your pulse?) If the heart rate is accurate, and it's a good model HRM, I might go with that.. and the…

That is the reason that going to the gym on the weekend drives me nuts!! I know how frustrating and stressful that is!!
-
I don't think it makes a difference! The band is flat and fits under the underwire, and the sensor is in the middle so it doesn't seem to get in the way. At least for me ;)

I almost always do this, when i have a good idea of what I'll be eating. It makes me think of how many calories will be going into my mouth, and if I put it all down and think ,"Whoa, that's a lot!" then I can change it a bit and I'll be mindful of those calories when I'm eating. If you're putting in the calories after…

Yes, you can lose water weight during a workout if you don't drink back everything you sweated out!
-
I would just go ahead and do them! Would a 3 lb difference be so noticeable in your pictures?

I think it's very rare and difficult to really be able to walk 5.0 mph. I'm tall and have long legs and I'm a fast walker, but on the treadmill I can only keep up walking at 4.5 mph for so long. If I upped it to 5.0 mph, I know i'd be doing little skips to keep up with the treadmill! So believe what the treadmill tells…

Yes, we didn't celebrate at all yesterday, so it was fine. But we're having a belated Mardi Gras party on Saturday which may be another story :)

Well, here in Montreal we're supposed to get another 30 cm of snow tomorrow!! I'd use it to go snowshoeing on the weekend but then it's supposed to rain all Friday! I wish Nature would make up her mind!!

Keep logging and keep working out! If you can fit a workout (or a long walk) in, it will help keep your mind in the right mindset. Also, try to plan your meals beforehand. If you know what you're going to make for dinner, you'll be less tempted by take out... make meal plans for the week and avoid buying those sweets! Know…
