  • Search out zucchini bites on here. Awesome, also try the curried cauliflower suggestion, same post. Enjoy /endure the game - depending on your loyalties.
  • Do "new towns" count? Originally from Shipley in West Yorkshire, via Saltaire (UNESCO world heritage site), Leeds, Harewood, Horbury, Bourneville, and currently deep, deep south in Hanslope. ( Milton Keynes post code - hence my original question) Anyhow, welcome.
  • I just love dipping in and out if these responses, I have laughed out loud, shouted rude comments about some of the more insensitive comments but above all been staggered by just how much we have collectively lost. Had another one last night st school governors meeting when the clerk told me I had 18 months left to serve…
  • It's a good positive way to start. I had a month of eating through my freezer basing logging on estimates. Now I know the exact contents, portions and calories of everything in there. First few weeks are harder but now it seems natural to weigh, measure and record as I cook. One small hint, if your recipe says one cup of…
  • Enter the whole lot as a recipe for 1 . You now have your batch calorie count. Divide batch count by 8 to see what you get. That gives you your probable portion calories. What I tend to do is pack the whole lot in freezer packs. That way if I produce 20 packs I know each pack contains (total calories in the pot divided by…
  • So try sparking water with lime cordial (16 cal) Or with squeezed lemon juice and lemon slices (5 cal) No chemicals, but I still log because even sparkling water has mineral content that you may want to track.
  • I freeze lots of stuff in portions, take it out the night before to defrost, that way when I get home it's ready in 20 to 30 minutes. Rabbit casserole and roasted veg for dinner tonight, all put on mfp this morning so I know where my day can head. Ps everything in freezer is created as a recipe as I cook it, portioned and…
  • I was about to post nsv of seeing big toe nail! So totally outgunned. My favourite post on MFP so far. Looking forward to MY moment. :drinker:
  • Ok, so my other half had been subjected to mfp to the point of a belt notch before he knew. Assuming you prepare and cook meals rather than buy ready made here us what I did. Recipes.... If it says tablespoon of oil, use teaspoon Minced meat, buy lowest fat, then use kitchen towel to soak up any fat that surfaces. If…
  • Absolutely, but if possible get one with removable plates, makes clean up so much easier.
  • I've had success adding 25% shredded cauliflower to well seasoned ground meat, it works in any mince meat recipe, forms into patties or sausage shapes and reduces the calories per portion. Try adding other shredded veg, onion, garlic, celeriac all work well.
  • Take a boneless, skin on, salmon fillet, marinade for half hour to two hours in a hoisin & spring onion sauce. Heat the grill and grill for 8 minutes, check after 4 and spoon over extra marinade. Serve over a vegetable stir fry (and if your target allows it, some noodles) Wonderfully sticky salmon.
  • Lean beef, lots of spices and /or herbs. Bulk it out by adding shredded cauliflower, it keeps the texture and absorbs the flavours, works great in chilli, Bolognese, cottage pie etc.k
  • I log everything including black coffee. I find it much easier to log everything than trying to work out what counts and what doesn't. I even log water added to my recipes(makes repeating them easier!) It is all simply maths, just keep the figures accurate and you'll get a true answer.
  • I would buy turkey breast, flavour and season at home. If you really want sausage shape, form into rissoles and cook.. no unpronouncable ingredients.
  • Definitely food scale first. I never realised what my portion of cereal or a slice of bread actually weighed in comparison to the stated 'serving" on the packet! Following that get a proper set of spoon measures (the Jamie Oliver glug is not a measure!) Weigh, log, eat and enjoy.
  • I lost 9lb in week one but since then it has been a steady 1 to 2 lb a week. I just follow the numbers generated by the app and it seems to be working. Persevere, weigh and log everything enjoy the journey.
  • I have the app on my phone, so convenient. I batch cook a lot of stuff and freeze in portions, each batch is saved as a recipe on here. As I take dinner out of the freezer I log it, that way I know what I have left for the day.
  • Hi, have you set up your profile on MFP with height, weight and target loss? This app will take your info and give you a net calorie figure to sum for. Then you record your exercise calories and just eat the calories MFP calculated. Been doing just that for 120 days, lost 40 lb no listening to "friends" or conflicting…
  • Chop the head including stalk and inner leaves into approx 1 inch cubes. Add a small onion orl shallot finely chopped. Pour in 400 ml stock (low salt preferably). Add 1 tablespoon medium curry powder. Boil unti tender. Drain but reserve cooking stock. Blitz in the processor until smooth adding a little of cooking liquid if…
  • THIS IS IT! My new throw away response! Hilarious!
  • Mothers.. .. Mine is classic. Months before I started the loss she shouted loudly, in public, at the poolside where we were staying for the weekend. "you know you've got lovely legs and bum, pity about your tits and tum!" Get me out of there!
  • Hi everyone, thank you all for posting. I woke this morning and found all these posts, just been sat in bed with my partner reading through them. A lovely, sometimes hilarious start to s cold UK day. :drinker:
  • Priceless! Had me laughing out loud!
  • Thank you for posting the pictures. Seeing transformation like yours is so inspirational. You are looking pretty damn good. Keep up the good work. Not sure if the etiquette but in .the absence of a 'round of applause' or 'high five' smiley icon have this instead :flowerforyou:
  • I regularly dress salad with juice of half an orange, mixed with juice and zest of half a lemon, seasoned with teaspoon if grain mustard. Do you need the oil at all?
  • Chorizo sausage. I haven't eaten it since November when the last of my sausage casserole was removed from the freezer! Using a lot of smoked paprika in other foods though.j
  • I know it is a sad reflection, but I will stay on the bike / treadmill long enough to burn a cider, or a half bottle of wine. I know the points off by heart! It does make the "reward" so very much more appreciated though! (and has reduced my weekly unit intake very significantly) Good luck
  • I weigh Friday, Monday and Wednesday Friday for the record. Monday for the weekend damage assessment and to approach the week with a target. Wednesday for a progress check. Always first thing in the morning, after bathroom, before coffee, butt naked! Oh and beard trim and shave on Sunday night! Every little helps.
