  • Mashed banana topped with cottage cheese and put back under the grill for a few minutes
  • 35 minutes vario trainer then 30 minute Metafit "hashtag hit". Then walk a mile to the office.
  • Inspirational! Please add me and access to the diary too. I'm hovering 28lb over where I want to be but still 5 stones (70) lb from where I started. I joined MFP after initial loss.
  • Younger, older? All I know is that I have so much more energy and vitality. I really don't care. I just enjoy the massively enhanced life in all areas!
  • LOL my hubby and I just love walking hand in hand in the local mall and watching the reactions. Obviously we are aware of the location but do push limits. Central London OK. Centre.MK OK. Middle of Birmingham (UK) OK. Middle of Bradford maybe not. It's all down to Location, Location, Location.

  • Does Hanslope count (Milton Keynes outskirts)?
  • MFP for certain. Couch to 5k is next project. A shopping list app really helps too.
  • Been logging for over a year. It starts as a chore but is now as much a part of my routine as cleaning my teeth. It takes a few minutes at most even on 'complex' days. stick with it, and good luck with the journey.
  • If It's raw I weigh raw. Same with all ingredients in food I cook from scratch. The only time I use cooked weights is if the ingredient is pre-cooked.
  • I log twice a week on a spreadsheet so I see the minor ups and downs. But I only post my new lows on here. To me the incentive is to get the next low. Benefit of the spreadsheet is I can see the overall graph of progress. Averaging a pound a week over the year.
  • Or decide what calorie count you would be happy to take and then do simple maths. TOTAL RECIPE CALORIES ÷ TARGET PORTION CALORIES = NUMBER OF PORTIONS I then pack portions into freezer containers and write contents, date and calories on the label. Guesswork gone.
  • As you prepare the recipe at home weigh everything. Enter it as a recipe on MFP then you know the total calorie count and you can work out the portion count by entering the number of servings you divide it into. Any other way would be guesswork. Cheers
  • excellent advice. Coupled with stay close to a support network on here.
  • I moved into the flat downstairs, he came to say hello and just forgot to go home. . . . 23 years ago! :drinker:

  • I have tried Weight watchers and slimmer' world, hypnotherapy, pills and potions, spent hundreds of pounds in the process! The only time I have lost more than a stone, and kept it off for more than a month is on this site. Whatever you choose, however they tell you to eat, count, move etc it all boils down to your ability…

  • I use them a lot as a bowl for things like Bolognese or ratatouille. They make a tiny amount of sauce look and feel like a substantial portion. On a desperate day I even stuff portabello with a mushroom, laughing cow blue cheese and shallot mixture. Hooray for such a tasty.veg. I always season with pepper, salt and a…
  • I do Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Monday to assess the weekend damage Wednesday to check progress Friday to see results. Always log the Friday weight. It's just making it work for you without undue stress!
  • I would work out the marinade calories and work on a rough guess that half gets eaten, half gets thrown away. Ok so probably over counting the calories but at least I feel 100% happy on that basis. I'm going to try the recipe, I'll post the calories when I do. Thanks for the idea.
  • Make your own fishcakes, substitute half the potato with pureed celeriac. Bulk out with shallot, parsley, cornichon, lemon zest, capers. Pan fry using spray oil until browned on both sides then bake for 10 minutes. Much more taste, total control, and lower calories. Ring the changes with different fish, including smoked…
  • Google "pizza hut calories" the company provide a very good set of nutritional fact sheets covering areas like fat, sugar, ingredients etc and a nutritional table with calories at the end of each one. Be aware that pizza values are per slice! But they do say one slice is 1/6th of 9 inch or 1/8th of 13 inch. Plan, plan.…
  • Laughing cow with blue. On seeded ryvitas. Yum!
  • Also get the pan as hot as you can before starting to cook, I find it a fine line between hot enough and smoke alarm going off :drinker:

  • Take a look at electric wild with highest wattage (heat) you can fin. The stands distribute heat up the side so you get a better cook than on an electric stove. If you cook on gas there are wok stands that lift the pan up a bit and allow flame to.heat wider pan area. Even better if you have a high capacity burner on.the…

  • Ditto. And some lovely ideas too!
  • Thank you for sharing these ideas. Sometimes you need a plate of real food that doesn't destroy the calorie bank. I'll definitely be try some of these ideas as snacks or even as starters / desserts with a main meal. Cheers :flowerforyou:
