Let me add that I don't *look* like I'm 185. I was an athlete growing up and would consider myself "thick" lol I have muscles under an extra layer of fat, which I thought would help with weightloss since muscles burn more fat. Throughout college I was always 160-165. I gained 25 lb within the past two years.

So will I eventually see more drastic weight loss with time after my body gets used to the workouts? I'm 5'5" and weigh 185.2, I've been eating anywhere from 1,000-1,500 calories. Some days I work out. This past week I did four days in a row. And yes I've been measuring everything. Breakfast I'll have a Special K Egg…

Alright, maybe I'll have to try it then! :P
-
Hmm good to know, I'll have to stop buying that shake and replace it. Thanks for the advice! :)

Really? Then why does MFP give you a set number of protein to take in? And I don't really watch fiber, its my sugar that I'm worried about, I tend to go over that a lot.
-
Hmm that sounds good except I don't like sweet potatoes - would a regular potato work? I'm a picky eater haha :P
-
That's a good idea - thanks so much! I don't like chocolate actually, but I have been drinking these Special K vanilla protein shakes which I love, however they are very high in sugar and protein - both of which I tend to go over in :/ - same with skim milk (I'm big on dairy unfortunately lol) The smoothies sound great…

Oh my god okay wow this is all making so much more sense to me now - I'm gonna have to force myself to eat even when I'm not hungry! Haha thank you all SO MUCH! I completely get the net calories and will try be as close to the goals that MFP sets for me as I can from now on. And as cheesy as this is gonna sound, you all…

Thanks so much for all of your responses! This is making much more sense now. haha I think I just saw my "Net Calories" under reports yesterday and got a bit freaked out and thought that I didn't have a deficit and was doing all this work for nothing. But though I still don't really know or understand what Net Calories are…

SAME exact problem for me. So extremely frustrating. However, I took a fitness class in school this past semester and I learned that while sugar is a carb, the greatest percent of your food should be from carbs in general. The powerpoint I still have says this - There are two types of carbs - simple carbs (soda, candy,…

Hmm that's really interesting, I feel like the myth is that you have to work your *kitten* off in the gym and eat as little as possible to take in a negative number of calories but it seems that that's not exactly true.. Thanks
-
When you do that, do you personally find that if you take in more calories it tells you you will weigh less or more?
-
Really? Then how come when I go to reports and click on Net Calories I'm always over :/ is that different than a deficit? Thanks for the replies!
-
ah i would love to hear as well! i have one at school and i LOVE making smoothies with it!

i've been on zoloft for about 4 years now [with a brief period of stopping and switching around some meds last year, but i of course ended up back on zoloft, thank god]. it has changed my life and made me a much happier person. i can't remember the last time i got a panic attack. i haven't really noticed much change in…

awesome, thank you so much :D

also is there a such thing as "too much" protein? the diet plan on this website is good in that i never go over my calories, carbs, or fats, but i tend to find myself going over in protein.. last question, sorry! haha thanks again for all your help guys =]
-
and reduced calorie diet.. i definitely have reduced since i've began using this website. i go by the amount of calories it tells me. but when i used to be an active athlete every day, it really was a lot of weight training [like i said i was a competitive cheerleader so i was always lifting people and doing floor…
-
wow thanks for all the answers guys! now that i actually stop to think about it, that's very true that fat cannot turn into muscle. haha people always said it to me so i guess it just kind of worked it's way into my head without me really thinking about it. what is considered a low weight/high rep? should it hurt? when i…

awesome! i love finding people with close stats to me! nice meeting you :D

i was a cheerleader my whole life, and to be honest, i WISH my parents would have pushed me into gymnastics more. i mean i obviously appreciate the fact that they let me pick what i wanted to do (if it was up to my dad, god knows i would've probably been a football player, haha) because i did grow up enjoying my…

-
ah thank you, i hope so! i mean i know you're a guy, but i see people (girls) on tumblr that are losing weight but it's because they're either purging or doing diets with EXTREMELY low-cal days and fasts that can last for up to 15 days! it makes me think, "oh no, i hope i can do this the healthy way and still get results…
-
ah yes, you're a little taller than me [i'm in between 5'3" and 5'4" but round it up cause i'm closer to 5'4" anyways hah] but our goals are almost the same! congrats on the weight loss so far! that must make you feel amazing and even more motivated! .. how did you do it? if you don't mind me asking =]
