  • Your body gets used to what you eat regularly, so suddenly eating different from the day to day can be difficult to digest!
  • I like to add some mint leaves to my water, similar to the suggestion of fruit. Doesn't add any sweetness, but it makes it more exciting? You could also try cucumber, too, for something different and refreshing.
  • My college dining hall was similar. Try to do some research: ask the people working there if they know where/if calorie info is posted, or talk to someone like the manager of the dining hall (there's usually someone in charge of what is ordered, etc). Is it part of a larger company that supplies food to multiple places? If…
  • How tall are you? If you're on the taller side, you'll likely have a bigger waist no matter what. Otherwise, it could just be your frame- bodies come in all shapes and sizes, after all!
  • I would maybe try eating something a little more "substantial" for lunch, such as a salad with a protein source (chicken, egg, etc) on it to get more vegetables and protein in, especially since I see a lot of fruit here but no vegetables. While fruit is better than candy, you're probably missing some important vitamins and…
  • It looks like all the numbers are going in the right direction, great work! Triglyceride levels tend to be related to what foods you are eating, so an improvement in diet will generally bring that down.
  • I'd say focus more on the food than working out. Make sure you have a few quick, easy, healthy meals to fall back on when you have two exams and an essay due in two days lol, or when you're exhausted. Not sure how often you work out now, but try to make working out part of your weekly schedule (I used to go on Tuesdays and…
  • Took a break from pop for a few months, but it still tasted good the next time I had it. However, I quickly found that my stomach was no longer used to all the carbonation, so I've been having such beverages in extreme moderation ever since.
  • Try a different brand! I thought I didn't like the flavor of green tea, when really I didn't like Lipton green tea. I've liked most other brands I've tried. And yes, like sewerchick93 said pay attention to brewing.
  • Set your goal at a BMI of 25 (the upper range of "healthy"), then see how you look/feel at that weight. If you need to lose more, you'll probably be able to tell at that point, and there's nothing saying you can't maintain that weight for a while and then decide to lose more later!
  • When someone gets pretty close to goal, it's usually recommended to only lose 0.5-1 lb/week. As such, while you COULD lose 14 lbs in 7 weeks, it's going to be TOUGH. That being said, just keep going- even losing 5-10 lbs in those 7 weeks would be great, and a more realistic goal.
  • As far as dealing with the stress, try to make sure to relax every day, even if only for half an hour. This could be exercise, or it could be meditation, or it could be allowing yourself to watch a TV show you want to watch. Just make the choice to RELAX. To help getting to sleep, there's always the oft-repeated sleep…
  • Maybe try different exercises, rather than increasing duration? Going from 45 minutes a day to 1.5 hours twice a day seems kind of extreme. Also, diet matters a lot more than exercise (it's waaay easier to overeat than it is to burn off those calories!!)
  • Have you tried making sure you're keeping your skin clean after you work out, and not wearing makeup while working out? Sometimes people have issues with hormone changes with weight loss too, which might just mean waiting it out.
  • I'm 24 and have been waffling on logging for a while now. Hopefully I can stick to it for longer this time!
  • Me too. I've been bopping around at 185-187 for the past few months now (between a boyfriend and stress from major life decisions, I haven't been as strict with myself). At 5'5", 180 puts me into overweight. URGH.
  • I found mine at goodwill for less than $5. You might check out somewhere like that (and try it out before you use it- mine was set to kg rather than lbs when I bought it lol).
  • I've not heard of fat storing emotions, but I have heard of people being emotional when going through new exercises (I heard this in relation to yoga, not sure about others). Apparently emotions are sometimes released due to muscle memory associated with specific movements.
  • Are you eating back your exercise calories? If not, you might be eating too few calories?
  • If it worries you, you could try increasing your calories, or increasing your activity level? You might just not be eating enough.
  • While it can be harder for women to lose weight because of hormones, that usually just slows weight loss. I'd say they're not tracking their calories, which means that even if you eat a healthy meal, calories from snacks, soda, etc. still easily add up.
  • My guess would be something along the lines of the body trying to conserve energy when food is scarce, which was probably pretty useful for the cavemen but not so much for people these days. That said, I have no references to support this claim.
  • I do (though I tend to just write "vegetables" and "fruit", lol). If I don't, I forget I'm out of milk (or eggs, or bread, or...)
  • What squeakyfish said: I rotate what I get. One week (or whatever, usually until it's gone) I'll get cheddar cheese, and then the next I'll get something different. One week it's bananas, the next it's berries for breakfast. It doesn't help that I live alone, so I'm the only one around to eat produce. Also, maybe try…
  • I'd say stick with your original goal for now. Usually the advice for choosing a goal weight is to decide where you're comfortable (or stop when you feel at a comfortable weight), and there's nothing to stop you from deciding to lose more weight after you've been there for a while, should you choose to!
  • Am I the only one who only records when it changes? I weigh myself every day, and then record a new weight if I've been the same for a few days (usually three, but it's an imprecise method). Taking some time away from the scale this month, though.
  • It really depends on your individual body, everyone is different! (for example, take a look at one of the threads discussing changes in bra sizes with weight loss; different area, but same thing). Your body holds onto fat in different areas than other people's bodies do. If you're afraid your butt will disappear, I would…
  • I've heard that the body processes the sugar in fruit, for example, more slowly because there is also a lot of fiber. I'd assume it's the same for vegetables. Otherwise, hopefully someone more knowledgeable will comment?
  • Happens all the time. At least the day was good? More good days than bad are a plus in my book lol.
  • What everyone else said. While I still have ~35 lbs to lose, I've changed my goals to .5 lbs a week because I was exhausted all the time on a larger (1 lb a week) deficit. This is probably just from not eating the right foods, but the extra 250 calories a day that I'm eating helps me make sure I fit in the good foods with…
