When is your ideal weight too low to go?

Hello MFP users :) If you're reading this, you're like me and have set your mind and body to losing weight and becoming a healthier you! Great job!!!

I have a question that's been bugging me the past few weeks: I set my goal weight to 145 lbs. (which is about a size 9 for me and just 10 lbs. lighter than when I got married 7 1/2 years ago). I have a medium build and even when I was active in sports back in high school I always had hips, thighs, and a booty. However, when I looked up my ideal weight, it says I should be in the low 130's and 147 is the absolute highest I should get. My question is, should I adjust my weight loss goals to fit into the 'ideal bracket' or should I just go by what I feel comfortable with? I don't want to kill myself dieting and exercising just to get an ideal figure, but I also don't want to be considered obese when I go to the doctor's. I am new to this whole weight loss journey, so any advice would be wonderful!!

I would go with what you feel comfortable with. Once you get there, you can see how you feel, and maybe talk to your doctor to reassess. The doctor won't think you're obese if you're at the high end of the normal range -- he/she will think you're a normal weight.

I'd say stick with your original goal for now. Usually the advice for choosing a goal weight is to decide where you're comfortable (or stop when you feel at a comfortable weight), and there's nothing to stop you from deciding to lose more weight after you've been there for a while, should you choose to!
