  • MFP has great people here that will support you as you work through the process. They will encourage you, challenge you, and inspire you, but the actual motivation needs to come from within. You have to have that little voice inside that says "Enough. I'm ready to make some changes. I WANT to do this. I NEED to do this."…
  • Everyone is different. It may be a good strategy for you. Try it out a few more days, and then get on the scale. (you have to test it out) Not weighing myself doesn't work for me because I am the queen of denial. If I don't get on the scale, then I didn't gain any weight. Denial got me an extra 30# over the last 2 years.…
  • I'd just eat normally tomorrow. One day isn't going to kill you (as long as it's not followed by another and another). If you eat too little over the next few days, you'll just be too hungry and that will lead to more over-eating. I'd chalk it up to a bad day and move on.
  • Chocolate is definitely my down-fall. I buy a bag of Dove Dark Chocolates. I hide them in the back of the cabinet at home and then allow myself only 2 of them a day (yes, every day). I pull exactly 2 out, put them in my lunch box for the next day, and that's it. The dark chocolate is really satisfying and if I can…
  • I use olive oil too, but try to use it really sparingly. I bought one of those "Misto" spray bottles - it's great. I would estimate it's probably only about a teaspoon total to coat the pan. Probably the best $12 I've spent in a long time.
  • I log everything. 50 calories here and 50 calories there tend to add up pretty quickly.
  • Congratulations!

  • Yep. It's tough to juggle everything. Just remember that it's important to take care of yourself and you need to "find" time to do that. Maybe in the morning before the kids get up, or in the evening after they go to bed? It's so hard though, especially when you're tired. Sometimes I have to remind myself that when I…
  • Pure vanity and nothing else. :blushing:
  • You can have results or excuses; not both. Or: Results are not made in the comfort zone. (Mike Karpenko)
  • 10428 + 32 = 10460
  • You look beautiful in both pictures, but more confident / happy in the second. It's definitely a big difference!
  • I had to have my wedding ring sized down to a 5 because it was falling off!
  • I think it's very motivating. I'm guessing that the people who consider it "fat-shaming" are people that secretly are ashamed of how they look and that they've not successfully done anything to change it. I look at my before photos and it reminds me that I need to keep pushing forward because I don't want to be that person…
  • I agree! I think just about everyone I know has said something about my weight loss except for one friend who is also quite heavy. She doesn't acknowledge it at all. Nothing.
  • Best (from my husband) - " I'm so proud of you." It's a tie for the worst - 1. (my mother-in-law when my husband pointed out my 30+ pound weight-loss) - "I didn't notice. Maybe I would have noticed if you lost 60 pounds." (which by the way would have put me at 5'7" and 114# -way too small for me) 2. (a co-worker) - "I…
  • I have one and I LOVE it! I don't run, but it's great when I'm sore the day after a tough workout. I just bought the cheap "Golds Gym" one from Walmart. It works great for my purposes.
  • It kind of depends on the route you're taking. Diet? Exercise? Both? What's your own personal motivation? I started out with a workout program that was really difficult. My first goal was to make it all the way through at least one of the videos without quitting (which took me a week and I still couldn't keep up, but I…
  • First of all, you look great! Secondly, men can be clueless sometimes. Especially brothers. They don't pay attention to stuff like that. If they don't see you often, they maybe honestly didn't notice. My own husband didn't notice (or at least didn't say anything) until I had lost about 20#, and he sees me every day. As far…
  • I like the Dorothy Lynch Fat Free - it's only 60 calories for 2 Tablespoons. But, my favorite is full fat, terrible for me, Ranch.
  • Sugar: Candy, Cookies, Ice Cream, you name it.
  • Sadly, the tummy always seems last to go. My legs are pretty twiggy right now, but I still have a bit of my belly left too. I'm planning on losing the fat from my belly (hopefully), and then I'm going to switch things up and try to put a little muscle on my chicken-sticks.
  • Tapout XT!!!!!! It's awesome! I love it, my husband loves it and our two boys (13 & 11) love it too! Lots of variety, very challenging, and great results! (But don't get XT2 unless he's VERY advanced - that one is absolutely crazy.)
  • You really just need to experiment and find something you enjoy doing. It doesn't necessarily need to be structured like a DVD. You could swim, run, bike, walk, play tennis, volleyball, rollerblade, dance, etc.... It's just a matter of finding what works for you. I personally don't like the Jillian Michaels workouts…
  • Hi everyone! My name is Jennifer. I've been on MFP since early October. I love it! It's been so helpful, and I've "met" some amazing people that are facing the same issues I am each day. It's done wonders for me. SW: 172.8 CW: 142.2 GW: 135 Here are my goals for March: 1) Lower Body Fat by at least 1% (currently…
  • I agree that making goals is a great idea. I tried that in February and failed miserably, but I'm going to try it again for March. 1) Lower Body Fat by at least 1% (Which I actually did do in Feb) 2) Limit eating out to once a week 3) Drink at least 8 glasses of water EVERY day - no excuses 4) Plan better…
  • There are two ways to get rid of cellulite: 1) Reduce fat while building muscle and 2) Liposuction. No spot reduction, no easy answer (I wish there were). There are tons of expensive products out there, but to think that lotion can smooth out the fatty deposits in our butt, legs, etc., is pretty unrealistic. I will agree…
  • Maybe more water while exercising? I know that if I am doing an intense work-out and I don't get enough water, I'm almost always sick after (or sometimes even during).
  • You're eating less than TDEE, right? Like TDEE - 20% or TDEE - 500 cal.? Just eating TDEE won't result in any loss, but if you eat under it, you should do fine (of course everyone is different). If you're using one of the TDEE methods you shouldn't eat back your exercise calories because they're already accounted for.
  • I actually can fit into every single pair of jeans in my closet now (even the "skinny" pair I've been holding on to for years). This morning, I put on my favorite pair of jeans, and realized that I had pulled them on without unzipping or unbuttoning them first. Woo-hoo! It's so nice to discover a whole new wardrobe that…
