chocolate milk all the way. :)

Yes - I was about 1100 under yesterday, and am STARVING today! :)

I net mine by the week now with my training changing so much from day to day. My 3-4 mile recovery runs barely gain me anything, yet my run yesterday earned me 1,154 calories. NO WAY I was eating those back. Also, I'm 5'7" and a couple pounds from my goal, and get about 300 more cals than you per day? Are you sure you're…

If you can, return it and get one with a chest strap. They are by far more accurate and reliable.

Interesting - I had a 95% tear of my MCL, and was told by the ortho that unless I was a professional athlete, that the standard practice was to NOT intervene surgically on that ligament. They just let it heal - I was in a brace for 14 weeks followed by a month or so of intense PT.

would help to know where you are located - since a lot of gyms are not national chains.

I see you are in Raleigh. Go to Fleet Feet, Omega Sports, Try Sports, or Raleigh Running Outfitters.

the numbers quoted here on MFP tend to be WAY off in comparison to HRMs. The best ones you'll see recommended here are the Polar FT4 and FT7. I think you can get them on Amazon.com for a decent discount - just do some shopping around. I personally use the Suunto T3d and love it. I had a fancy Garmin one, and returned it…

I use the amphipod, and really llke it. I can add bottles as needed for my long runs, and it has a great pocket that my iPhone fits into nicely. if you are worried about it getting wet, I put my phone in an extra ziplock back on rainy days.

are you entereing it as strength or cardio? Strength won't show any calories. Look under circuits in the cardio section. Or, better yet, get yourself a HRM and figure out how much you are actually burning each workout... good luck!

I just started running last year, and did my first half in November. I'm going to try and hit 1,000 miles this year, but not sure it'll be all running. I'm going to track both running and all other modes and see what happens. :)

First - the HRM will always be more accurate than the machines - if it is set up correctly. I've seen machines off by almost 50%. Second - you'll hear a lot of different opinions about Zones on here. I am of the 'they are complete bunk' camp. If you can go harder and are not maxing out or going over your max, then by all…

I used the HH Novice program for my first half. I think my longest run was 12 miles? That was back in November, and am now looking at the intermediate plan for a race I'm considering in March. :)

While it is clear you don't like Crossfit, the content in your link is not Cossfit exclusive. I've done loads of bootcamps and personal training seasons where we do plyo training and box jumps. This injury could have happened in any gym in the world, as box jumps are staples of strength training. If you don't like…

^^^^^. THIS! I know when you have a fear logic goes out the window, but I did aviation accident research and analysis for about 7 years. Commercial flying is pretty much one of the safest forms of travel in the world.

Blender bottle. Hands down... Www.blenderbottle.com. You can also get them at GNC and Vitamin World IIRC....
-
both. they are different variations of the plank

I also use a lacrosse ball on my hip flexors and bottoms of my feet.

THANK GOD! this is the only thing that hasn't shrunk on me! :blushing:

I have both - helps you pinpoint different areas. hard foam roller and I have a Tiger Tail - recommended by my PT.

I totally freeze all the time now! Also, I'm going broke buying smaller clothes. I've almost had my 'fat pants' fall off atcwork a few times.

I 'ran' a half with my best friend a few weeks ago. I, like you, busted my *kitten* training for it for 14 weeks leading up to race day. She ran MAYBE six or seven training runs before race day. WE started together and then broke off. I got a blister at mile 8 on my foot. So, not only did she train LESS than me, she beat…

More than plenty. I had a decent base (was able to run 3 miles at a shot) and did the 12 week Hal Higdon novice plan. Google it and you'll find it very quickly.

Craigslist is your friend with that budget. Best brand for home use is really Sole. I have the F63.

This isn't necessarily true. Some of them wont, but I know for certain the Garmin 405cx does. I had one for about a year, and it will work on the mill, but you won't get distance unless you get the foot pod accessory. I've used it for both running, riding, and circuit training indoors....

Lucky!

Energetic!

Interesting thought. I mean, they say that HRM are unreliable for weight lifting type activities, becuase your HR goes up, but not becaue of an increase in VO2, but because of an increase in pressure. Wondering how a pack would effect that. HMMMMM

Friend of mine is a ballet dancer and a doctor. This is her proven solution: Take a sterilized needle and pop onehole at the edge left or right not front or back, where it hits the new skin. THEN soak your foot in a sink of hot water and half a bottle of ALUM from the spice section..Do the soaks three times a day- it will…

I have a microwave egg poacher that I use every day. I 'over' poach the egg, and then throw it on a toasted english muffin with a slice of cheese. Takes less than 4 minutes end to end. ;)
