I think everyone's first mile sucks! I've read that time and time again on here... :)

Sorry. Double post...

I wear a HRM and created a custom log category for personal training sessions...

Turkey dinner is NOT BAD FOR YOU. There are components that you should either 1)avoid, or 2) take small portions of, but if you continue down this road of things being off limits, you will likely bing at some point. Want mashed potatoes? EAT THEM - in moderation! There are no off limits foods, you just have to control your…

Couple of thoughts.... Most HRM are water resistant, but don't necessarily WORK in the water. If you want one that works while swimming and such you will be doling out a lot of cash. What is your intent with the pedometer functionality? Is your plan to wear it all day to track your steps? Most HRMs are designed to only be…

Doesn't matter where ya finished - cause you finished! The more you run, the more you lose, the faster you'll go. ;) I started with 19 minute miles back in March. Now, I'm running 12 minute miles and will complete my first half marathon in 3 weeks! Keep up the hard work!

I got two packs of these from Sams Club for my workout room. I think there were 8 squares in each pack for like 20 bucks.

Usually around 3-400 miles. A lot depends on the person. A good rule of thumb is tht of you can bend the toe up significantly or twist the shoe from toe to heel easily, they are shot.

I'm confused. If you work from home, why can't you cook veggies and such? I work from home one day a week, and ALWAYS cook on that day. Get a microwave steamer (pampered chef sells them). You can steam rice and just about any veggie in it. Throw a chicken breast in the oven and let it cook. Takes NO time on your part for…

I did a lot of research before I bought mine. You get what you pay for. Check out www.treadmill doctor.com for reviews. Hands down, the Sole F63 is the best value on the market.

define arm and leg. ;) I have a Suunto T3d that I love. Does everything I need it to do. Whatever you decide, get one with a chest strap. The wrist ones are not reliable.

That's a great goal! I'm in a fitness 'group' on Facebook, and our goal is to do 130 miles by December 31st - 10 miles a week. :) I also have a personal goal for the month - see my ticker below. I'm running my first half marathon on November 5th. Nine months ago I could barely run a mile! :)

You're kids are old enough to be more self sufficient. Have THEM cook dinner and clean it up. Have THEM do the laundry or mow the lawn. I played both high school and club sports growing up. I still had to set and clear the table every night, bring the laundry down and sort it, mow the lawn (alternating with my sister), and…

He's right! Most of the running community is not judgemental at all - Hell, you are out there running 13.1 miles while many people are sitting on their hineys having their morning pastry and coffee! :drinker:

find the right running buddy. Until a couple weeks ago, I had never run with anyone. I 'ran into' a old friend of mine on the trail one day, and he turned around and ran with me. it wasn't at all planned. He was in marathon taper, so slowing down to my pace was good for him, yet he still pushed me to go a little faster. I…

Most Mom's do this every day. You have some options, but a lot depends on how old the kiddies are. 1) Get up early and workout before they get up for school 2) Workout at lunch 3) Workout while they are at practice - run around their field, gym, etc. 4) Workout while they are doing homework 5) Workout after they go to bed…

you RAN 280 miles in Sept? You are my new hero! :)

I ran 88 miles in September. My half is officially 1 month away! :)

Im a fan of the grilled cheese/chix noodle soup combo. Maybe because it is cold here today! :)

Either way, your HRM is giving you the shaft on the amount of work you are doing. Get a new one....

So, so sorry... Dogs have a way of getting into our hearts and staying there forever. I had the same dog for 22 years growing up. Right now I borrow my sister's golden when I need somy puppy kisses...

I have to recommend AGAINST the Garmin 405. I had one for about a year. Loved it at first, then I ran the Garmin update, and all hell broke loose. It stopped holding a charge, would crap out in the middle of workouts, calorie count was all over the map, etc. I called Garmin, as it was less than a year old (and had read of…

Im running Savannah in a few weeks. I'll let you know! :)

Something is very wrong. You should be burning around 100 cals per mile - especially if you can walk 12 minute miles - there is no way I could WALK that fast.
-
The 'old' me used to, but not this one. You need to realize there is NO such thing as cheating. If you call it that, you will feel guilt - there is no way around it. I make better choices now than I used to, I plan them in, and I burn the calories if needed. Yes, cake for every meal isn't a great diet, but having one slice…

I don't personally listen to any, but I know some folks on here like the fat2fitradio.com

I have the amphipod belt, and have been working with it on my training runs. I'll wear that with 2 water and 2 electrolyte bottles, my pocket with some hard candy, and my race # belt for my half. I'm training with the Galloway run/walk method, and he suggests walking at the water stations. You get a short break, and don't…
