I toured the one in my neighborhood and immediately decided that it wasn't for me when the tour guide immediately started telling me about how they gave members free donuts and free pizza on certain days of the week/month. :/

When I was taking drawing classes, we were happy to have any models, male or female. Their body shape and size didn't matter. I recruited a friend, who was well over 200 pounds, to model for the class, and she turned out to be everybody's favorite because she was so comfortable when she posed.

A Bermuda fish sandwich typically includes deep-fried fish fillets (not fish fingers), lettuce, tomato, Bermuda onions, cheese, hot sauce, tartar sauce and coleslaw, all piled onto raisin bread. No ketchup, no custard. http://www.gotobermuda.com/blog/In-Search-of-Bermuda’s-Best-Fish-Sandwich/

That should be the official MFP tattoo.

I just looked this up in the database. One mug = 375 Calories? Is that correct?

Thanks so much! I guess I'm getting a bit neurotic about this, but I didn't want to try them until I understood the nutrition. Now, after all your work, I sure hope that I like them! Thanks again! :D

Nearly every word in this post could have come from me. I honestly thought I was the only one who felt this way. It is great to know that there are others out there who are having the same reactions. I, too, am a very private person, and I don't feel at all comfortable knowing that others are scrutinizing the contours of…

I don't replace sweets with anything. When I want something sweet, I eat something sweet. I'm trying to eat in a way I can maintain for the rest of my life, and that won't happen if I walk around feeling deprived. But I try to make smart choices about the sweets I choose, and I'm trying to stay away from "artificial"…

This is both interesting and informative. Thank you very much.

I think most of us have days (and nights) where we eat and drink things that aren't the most healthful. It is simply part of being a fallible human. The thing is, you need to stop beating yourself up when you consume something that you believe you *shouldn't*. I know it is easier said than done, but I am learning to do…

1) Arctic Zero is NOT ice cream. Even the manufacturers acknowledge that, calling a "frozen dessert," never ice cream. 2) Arctic Zero is NOT 150 calories per pint. Independent tests have shown that their labels lie and, unfortunately, in the US this kind of lying is legal. Excerpt from the NBC report: "Believe it or not,…

So much for being "the brains."

Not too much. I live in an apartment that is on a high floor, in an area that has a high elevation. So, no danger of flooding for me, but if the power goes out, we won't have any running water (water in my building is powered by an electric pump) and of course, no elevators. After our last big blackout, I purchased one of…

Skip the sweets (especially those loaded with artificial crap) and go to a concert, a show, or have some other NON-food related celebration.

I have a friend who became a SERIOUS gym rat while losing well over 100 pounds. I think she lost about 125 or 150-ish. But all the exercise in the world didn't prevent her from ending up with baggy, saggy skin, especially in her lower abdomen and upper thigh areas. The scar from her c-section is pretty much hidden by the…

Yes. In the US, cheaper varieties of meat and chicken tend to come from animals that were mistreated, pumped full of hormones and antibiotics, and may be diseased. Things that are not allowed in Europe, but are common here. Most American people don't question where their beef, pork or chicken came from, or how the animals…

That *might* be true in Canada, where you live, but in the US beef and fish are among the MOST expensive items sold in supermarkets. I'm currently eating on a limited budget and have struggled with this issue myself. I have learned that for US residents, the easiest and most affordable way to eat a healthier diet is: 1)…

Going to Brooklyn from Manhattan takes about 5 minutes. I know, I make the trip nearly every day. But it really doesn't matter how long it takes, since I think she didn't like any of my suggestions anyway. Oh, well, I tried. :)

I live in New York City and have never heard of anything called "Moes". No idea what it is or where it is, or why anyone would go there. As for Chipotle, it is NOT Mexican. It is a thoroughly American restaurant chain, based in Denver, Colorado, which sells large, disgusting things it calls burritos. The meat is all cooked…

What, precisely, is a Christian name? As a non-Christian, I only know that I don't have one.

Where did you get the information?

I can't find a post about mac & cheese quinoa. Can you please post a link?

What is a "breakfast food"?

Amen and Hallelujah.

I'll gain if I eat that much.

Great story, great perspective.

You can save a lot of money, and have greater control over what you guys are eating, by making your own bars. Buy the ingredients in bulk and spend an hour mixing and shaping them. It can even be fun. I have had good luck making these, and they don't fall apart in a lunch bag. Make sure you use parchment paper, though, or…
