  • thanks for the recipe! my wheat bread recipe is pretty much the same, but my bread is always a brick whether its refrigerated or not.
  • mmm wine and cheese =) my weakness too... especially cheese... i love cheese.
  • I'm in San Luis Obispo county. I like lots of sitting down things (my job is graphic and web design, so I live and breath my computer) but I love going for walks on the beach with my dog and taking motorcycle rides with my husband around the central coast. It's so beautiful here all year long.
  • Hi everyone! I'm Valerie. I've been crocheting off and on since I was little. It's my stress management program. =)
  • Welcome! Fist bump for healthy living. I know you can do it without the pills. I believe in you!
  • I had to train myself over the last several months to NOT weigh myself everyday. It was becoming destructive because I'd get depressed over watching the numbers go up by a lot and down by only very little. Now I weight myself every monday morning before I eat breakfast and I try not to pay attention to the scale numbers as…
  • I'll take the runner's high thank you very much. Everytime I eat a lot of fatty foods I get a three day "hangover." Even my body says "ick."
  • hahaha no whammy's. awesome. good luck to you and gratz on quitting smoking--still a great lingering shame of mine. in my humble opinion, if you can do that losing weight is a piece of cake or is as easy as pie or hrm... maybe delicious food references isn't the best way to go. ;)
  • Hi there! I joined because of the android app too. I was just saying to my husband last night how amazed I was that a little app has totally changed my life. It's good stuff. Welcome to MFP. =)
  • Yeay!! That's excellent!
  • Yes exercise is great for stress relief, but you need your sleep too or you'll burn out (if you haven't already!). For my stress-induced insomnia, I take 30 drops of Valerian extract (for body sleep), 30 drops of Passionflower extract (for mind sleep), 20 drops of Skull Cap (for muscle relaxation), and 80 drops of Milky…
  • When I look for foods in non-health-food stores I generally look at the list of ingredients. The small the list and the more "real" the ingredients are, the more likely I am to buy it. There are some dirty foods that you should always try to buy organic (they use a lot of chemicals) and some foods that are generally on the…
  • you look amazing! congrats on your excellent progress!
  • Wow you have a lot on your plate! Welcome back all the same! At a glance, a lot of why you are gaining weight could be stress/cortisol and not just your diet and exercise. Have you tried meditation or any herbal remedies for stress relief (milky oat and skullcap are great extracts that I take every night to keep my day's…
  • Welcome to MFP and good luck to you!! When you start counting calories you suddenly realize how much more you're eating then you thought. In my experience, it's best to start off measuring your food with cups and, if you have it, a food scale. That way you get an idea of how much your portions really are. When I started I…
  • Hey! Adjusting your diet is the first and hardest step, so you're on the right track. When I started on MFP, I couldn't even WALK .5 without gasping for air and getting sweaty. 6 months later, I'm at least wanting to exercise everyday (even if I can't get around to it). What sort of things do you enjoy doing outside? Are…
  • I think I agree with abellante_0205 about the sodium levels. I can easily gain 5-7 lbs in water weight alone on any average day if I let my sodium levels get all wacky the day or two before. Start taking measurements and stop looking at the scale. Scales are sadistic. Each one gives you a different number, it's entirely…
  • Michelle Rodriguez because she's just right... Skinny, Toned, Not too butch, Not too frail.
  • Sans: Helvetica Neue Light Serif: Minion Pro Good to know there are other designers in the system. =) LOL @ SarahC75 I do that quietly in my head. I also hear bollywood style music whenever I see papyrus.
  • +1 If it's not going to be helpful in some way, move on.
  • Excellent! I'm so happy for you! I was never one for skinny jeans for the exact same reasons. (The only way I think they look really good is with a nice pair of tall boots.) Hopefully someday soon I'll have the same NSV as you. =)
  • I agree with this. Let him go with you then do your own thing. If he really wants to be with you, let him adjust is pace to match you. My husband, when he runs with me, leaves me way behind because he likes to sprint and run for like 15 minutes and quit where I like to jog, pace myself, and go for like an hour. We rarely…
  • Depends on how social you want to be with the people you connect with. I'm sure some people are all about the weight and other are all about the social atmosphere. It's just like real life... is it possible to make real friends in real life or is everyone only concerned with themselves?
  • Welcome and happy MFPing!
  • YOU CAN DO IT!! You look absolutely gorgeous and and are even more beautiful for your discipline and perseverance. Best of luck with the remaining portion of your goal. I have faith that we'll see you in Success Stories again come December!
  • Why not go halfway and aim for 1300? That way you're still at a deficit and losing a little bit at a time, but also still enjoying your life. You should also note that 5 lbs can can be water weight. Make sure you're still drinking lots of water and flushing out your body.
  • That's interesting. I've also noticed that my HRM is showing that I burn on average 2-3x more calories than what MFP estimates in their exercise logs. I'd like to know what other think...
  • Welcome and gratz on a great start! I went to college in Rochester so it's great you're joined before the 9 months of winter set in. Best of luck to you!
  • Wow! Congrats! Keep up the great work. =)
  • I just took my before photos yesterday. I was just doing measurements before and it helps, but it's not nearly as motivating as you would expect. Ten pounds (or so) ago, I was so afraid to get in front of the camera in an outfit where I could actually SEE what I looked like. But seeing everyone else's success stories here…
