I was in a play that opened early July, and the director wanted me in black skinny jeans. I have never been able to wear skinny jeans, mainly because I have monster athlete calves and I can't usually get the jeans up past them. After LOTS of searching for this costume piece, I finally found a pair I could sort of yank up, but the muffin top was OUT OF CONTROL--even after trying to 'break them in' for a week, hoping they'd stretch. I ended up in leggings for the run of the play, and was much more comfortable (and able to focus on the character as opposed to yanking my pants every time I sat down).

But.

I kept the jeans. And today? NO MUFFIN TOP. I will be wearing skinny jeans out to lunch today for the first time in my life. Skinny jeans with NO STRETCH, all denim  Frankly, I'm still not sold on the style of them (I pretty much think they're unflattering on almost everyone), but I'M WEARING THEM ANYWAY!! BECAUSE THEY FIT!

    that is a great success!!
  • that's wonderful...!!!!!
  • Excellent! I'm so happy for you!

I was never one for skinny jeans for the exact same reasons. (The only way I think they look really good is with a nice pair of tall boots.) Hopefully someday soon I'll have the same NSV as you. =)

congrats! I agree with you about them being mostly unflattering, but I was in Spain and that is all the girls wear, and some of the boys too.

It's funny you said some of the boys too--my brother is in a band, and when they tour and do photoshoots, the label makes them wear skinny jeans but doesn't pay for them. So they buy them at Forever 21, where apparently the girl jeans cost $9 but the boy skinny jeans cost $40. They wear the girl ones!

Grats! I know that must of felt awesome :) I remember trying on some "slim" and "skinny" jeans on a whim and how happy I was when they fit :D The skinny jeans were just a bit too much for me, couldn't bring myself to buy them, lol. I bought the slim Levi 514 jeans though and wear them a lot. My favorite pair.

Oh ya...you can't post something like this with no pics! :P
