  • The way I've done it in the past was always eating reduced fat food. But I've come to the realisation that a) reduced fat often means increased sweeteners (which are terrible for you) b) it feels like you're even more on a diet (eating low fat mayo when your other half has full fat) c) if I ever get to maintenance, I…
  • I like this advice a lot! I think it is more a case of the fact that I have by seen myself in a swimming costume in maybe 5 years. I've taken photos of myself in the offending item, and I'm planning on going swimming to feel more comfortable in it! :)
  • I can't go as hard as I would like due to long standing back issues (sciatica) but I'm trying my best, I've upped my walking :) definitely need to start lifting though! Strengthen everything haha
  • Thanks everyone! I know I shouldn't care what anyone else thinks, but unfortunately this is me to an absolute tee. Stems from deep seated issues with my mother I believe, and I've been the same ever since. My other half is the polar opposite, so I'm slowly learning to become more like him!
  • Beach holiday booked and paid for. I wanted to go in September, by which point I would weigh a lot less. But this was the only time I could go
  • I have fruit/almond milk/oats smoothies for breakfast anyway (to get my 5 a day) but NY job doesn't really help me eat healthy, balanced, nutritious meals (let alone eat meals at meal times) it's something I've been toying with the idea of to make my life easier, but obviously if it's not gonna help my feel more full,…
  • I reckon I have an intolerance to something, but I'm not exactly sure what. I've always thought perhaps dairy. I cut out the coffee for one day and I still got a headache, but maybe it wasn't a long enough break. Might try decaff coffee, see if that makes a difference :)
  • I have to agree with you regarding cutting out things I enjoy. I don't do it with foods, I enjoy the odd bit of chocolate in moderation, so coffee in moderation can't be a bad thing either. Thank you for the advice :)
  • It is possible i struggle with concept of eating without the need to feel stuffed to feel happy. if i dont feel stuffed, i feel hard done by. probably why i keep eating. and probably why i wont eat little meals. i'll just skip them completely. because i dont feel stuffed from it lol
  • I've just looked at my diary and im on 104g protein today (mfp recommend 54g) I know I dont eat the best things (i'm very lazy, I dont cook lol) but i dont eat total crap haha
  • would that not have been flagged up when I had the blood test?
  • re: having my blood sugar tested, I had blood tests (fasting) earlier in the year and nothing was ever flagged up about it. Something must be messed up in my mind/body to eat as much as I do cos it's not like I eat because of depression etc
  • Ah it's all so complicated. So people who are severely overweight, who eat like 5-10,000 a day, their stomachs haven't stretched? why do smaller people need less calories than bigger people? it's something i've never been able to get my heas around
  • hi, i'm on 1,500 cals a day. Mostly because I don't move an awful lot. I have a FitBit and if i move a lot i can eat up to 1,800 cals but that is a rare thing! lol I basicaly have a desk job. i've just got back into it after almost a week off. not even eating at maintenance. just eating what i want :(
  • Very sound advice, thank you. :) I think i've just got into the habit of eating too large portions over the years which have stretched my stomach. And it's getting worse. And if i don't curb it soon then it's going to be too much to fix by myself. Smaller portion sizes are the way forward i'm thinking. Thank you :)
  • That's a good point actually, and something I often do. I will skip meals to save calories for the next meal which obviously doesn't work lol
  • I've been at this a year now lol and as hard as I try, my willpower always gets the better of me. For example, I went out for lunch yesterday and had 2 meals because 1 just wasn't enough. Then I just felt ashamed :(
  • Well the granola was mega tasty! shane about the greek yoghurt and peach I put with it. Made it vile! so i tried it with just milk and it was delish :)
  • hmmm so there are pros and cons to making it from scratch. There are a lot of benefits to cooking from scratch for everything. I'm just so lazy lol I could do with getting in to eating 'cleaner' so I suppose this is a good place to start (fingers crossed I don't get heartburn though :p)
  • Well I think as you say jsd_135, the proof is in the tasting :) your recipe sounds delish! I'll have to post in the morning with my findings haha h9dlb I don't really care for porridge and granola is full if good fats such as nuts but thanks for your.....input
  • we went. we ate. we did not enjoy it lol only had one plate but it was so greasy it waa disgusting! and it actually gave me stomach ache later that night :(
  • I agree with this. I never tell people i'm 'on a diet'. Nothing worse than when people say 'no thanks, I cant, im on a diet' Much better to make informed decisions and just say 'no thanks, I dont fancy that' or eat it if you do. I've realised lately that the reason weight loss never worked for me before was because I was…
  • Agreed! :D
  • Thanks for all the advice. Definatly a lot of good tips. Never been to this buffet before (it's fish and chip themed so the likelyhood of veggies is slim!) I definatly do not want to hit 2,000 cals in one meal! So I will be taking the advice of drinong plenty of water, and filling up on veggies (if possible) before hitting…
  • Yea well, just remember that MFP will and does have people eating below their BMR. That tells you what MFP knows ... ... so don't sweat their numbers too much and just use them for calorie input tracking and their food database. MFP is a helpful tool, but it's not a perfect tool. For our purposes it works, though.…
  • Right, I will try 2500 cals for a month then, thank you :) However disconcerting that MFP predicts a weight loss of 0.3lbs a week lol
  • Huh, wonder where I got 20% from? I set my activity level at 1-3hrs light activity a week on the scooby calculator. On any given day I reckon i'm sat on my bum for 8hours out on 16. And the only exercise I get is at the gym, such as today where i did 45 mins and burned 401 cals. Am I actually 3-5hrs moderate activity a…
  • haha I don't eat at all clean :( microwave meals and quick snacks. I'll eat veggies and proper meals when cooked for me.....that's something I really ought to fix I think! I'm just lazy, hence why I put so much weight on I guess I'll look into eating healthier and leaner, and upping my protien seems to be recommended a…
  • Lurpak is my absolute fave! Wont have toast unless its with Lurpak! :) But I dont restrict myself. I have ice cream, chocolate, cheese. Whatever I fancy. If i deprive myself, I give in. Maybe that's why i'm panicking. Because it just doesn't feel like a diet :s
