  • I have a question. This challenge is exactly what I was hoping to implement for myself, even with other exercise, I feel like I'm just not moving enough during the day. My question is how to track steps as exercise within myfitnesspal. I was going to track my steps from yesterday, but did not see a way to do it.
  • You can add me. I lost nearly 60 lbs five years ago after the birth of my first child, and kept it off for two years until I got pregnant with my second. Now I've gained all of that back plus some and am really really struggling to lose weight and see progress, despite my best efforts. It would be great to have some cyber…
  • In the same boat as you other mamas! Had my first at 27, took me about a year to get off my butt and put in the work to lose the weight, but managed to take off the baby weight plus the pre-pregnancy extra weight and even maintained it for two years. Then got preggo with second kid at 32, still struggling to get the weight…
  • I'm in the same boat with most of you ladies. I was overweight when I got pregnant with my first son, it took me about a year to really get active about trying to lose weight, but between weight watchers and MFP, I lost first the baby weight, then the extra pre-pregnancy weight and made it to a healthy weight and…
  • While I'm feeling thoroughly frustrated on the weight front, I'm doing well with my goals. I completed week 3 day 3 of couch to 5k today, and I've completed all but one day of a 30-day plank challenge (9 days in). Additionally I feel like my choice in food is getting healthier and I'm having an easier time keeping my net…
  • Thank you for inviting me to the group. I hope I can be a good and contributing member!
  • I'm a running mommy and I run slow too. Running is my time with just me and God. Very peaceful and restorative, even when it's a hard day making myself run.
  • What about exercise, have you started adding that to your plan? MFP has lots of 30 day challenges, and personally, I'm doing the couch to 5k training. It sounds like you have your calories under control, but adding some movement to your day might pick up the pace.
  • Add me too, the second kid really did me in! I have a 4 year old and a 6 month old.
  • Agreed. I've done the same thing, gotten a muffin which I knew wasn't a great choice, but then really really regretted it after I realized just how many calories I actually consumed. But it does serve a useful purpose. Now you really know how bad those things are for you, and in the future you can make better choices.
  • For mental health and positivity, sometimes giving it to God and focusing on the things you have direct control over is the only way to move forward. I completely understand the frustration, I've been working hard, exercising and monitoring everything that goes in my mouth and yet I'm gaining weight. Something's just wrong…
  • Good luck! I'm recently back after about a 2 year hiatus as well. I've got more to lose than you (thanks baby weight!) but similar end goal.
  • Thank you, this is very constructive help! I think that's just what I need. Small goals to focus on and be proud of myself for. Maybe I'll pick something I didn't do last time.
  • I just started my second journey this week too. You know what to do, and you've made the decision to do it!
  • I'd like to join as well!! I will be going to the beach the last week in June, so this is perfect timing B)
  • I can't contribute, but thank you for this thread. I had a c-section with my second son four months ago, and my stomach looks strange, the skin's mostly numb, and I still have a lot of pain in my abdominal region. I have 50 lbs to lose, but I have no idea of what my stomach will look like afterward. Even after a normal…
  • Amazing job! Congrats on two years maintenance, that is the truly inspiring part!
  • Thank you so much for posting this. You are truly an inspiration. It's easy to stick with the road to healthy when the payoff is immediate. It is much harder to stay on that path when the rewards are farther away. In your case it sounds like the reward is definitely there and you've succeeded in making a lifestyle change
  • I'm 5'1", or just under. I felt comfortable just under 140 the last time I lost weight (post kid and 30). When I was younger I felt comfortable around 128-130. My frame is hour-glass (a little more square post kids), but heavy thigh and arm muscles, large hips and bust, smaller waist.
  • I only count it if it's a 'marathon' session where it's extremely active for at least 20 minutes, and there's lots of sweat and sore muscles afterwards. I'm not sure if there's actually a category for the specific activity in MFP, but you can always include it as a custom cardio activity :drinker:
  • haha! Mine got a nasty diaper rash last week from the god awful heat and humidity. I was putting some ointment on the rash and I said 'I know it hurts' when he squirmed away. Now he keeps touching his crotch, my crotch, and everyone else's crotch saying 'I know it hurts'. It's just freaking creepy...lol
  • My mother-in-law and her mother were visiting. My then 10-month old son had just discovered the joy of opening drawers and dumping its contents. Much to my horror, he combined this new found skill with his new walking abilities and showed his Grammie and Me-me one of mommy and daddy's toys straight out of my night stand.…
  • tough love moment: 1) cliche though it may be, who will love you if you do not first love yourself? 2) have you thought about your wife lately? Have you both gotten into a rut where you're kind of living your own lives in parallel without really including each other? You complain that she hasn't considered you or done for…
  • Did something similar yesterday. Unfortunately my toddler was nearby and began repeating my expletive with a certain undefinable glee....
  • Here! Warrenton (or out in the sticks!) work in Chapel Hill but it's a 65 mile commute (luckily I work from home part of the week <3 my job)
  • I work nearby, and a lot of my coworkers participate. I LOVE kk, to the point that I can't be near them because I WILL eat every one in site. However I've never participated because I'm pretty sure I would ralph at some point during the second leg of the race, and I never like to toss my cookies. That would just be such a…
  • Yeah, I was shocked last summer when I picked up a few items at Old Navy. I had some Medium tees and tanks from Old Navy from about 6 years previously, so I assumed their Mediums would be about the same. WRONG. The batch I got last year fits like Large or XL should fit. I'm definitely not XS, but according to Old Navy's…
  • I second this. If this fails, replace your laundry detergent (or half and half your laundry detergent) with borax. Borax is a natural odor killer. Worked great on baby clothes that had the ingrained spit-up smell.
  • When I was around 19, I went on a date with a guy that was 24ish. I had reservations, as I knew he was a little socially inept, but I had no clue how bad it was. But I figured he was a nice enough guy and deserved a chance. Date started out fine, he took me out to dinner. Afterwards he suggested a movie at his place, and I…
