  • I actually don't find wheat english muffins or peanut butter at all satisfying. Maybe it's because I love them too much and could eat 50 muffins and a whole jar of peanut butter.... I find vegetables like broccoli, cooked spinach, cauliflower, cabbage, and peas to be very filling. Definitely upping proteins and fats is…
  • It takes a while for your mind to come around and "feel" the changes. It's hard to see the progress, even when we look at ourselves every day in the mirror! Adding exercise can help you feel better, as the previous poster suggested. It's exciting to realize what you're capable of. Also, pull out an old shirt or pants that…
  • I agree, that sounds like a good idea! Unfortunately, right now, it sounds like your daughter doesn't have trust in you, either out of her own personal shame, or the assumption that you dislike her whatever (having been the overweight daughter too, I can attest that often the "concern" gets interpreted as dislike or hatred…
  • Most of your weightloss will come from eating at a calorie-deficit. I suggest you keep the yoga to build up your core/overall body strength, balance and flexibility. Just because it doesn't torch calories doesn't mean it isn't beneficial!
  • I get what you're saying, but I just don't believe that a factory would have workers sitting there with measuring cups...lol it makes more sense that a machine would have a weight calculation so as to know how much to package.
  • Some tips: make sure you're extra diligent with weighing your food on a food scale--you have less "wiggle room." Lifting weights can be great for preserving muscle mass while you lose weight so you don't end up "skinny fat" (weight that you wanted, but not physical image you want.) You can try doing a new workout, not…
  • I hope others give you some more advice! Check out the forums for similar questions. Some programs to look into are strong lifts 5X5, but there are many! And honestly, woman cant get "bulky" like men. You'd have to be on a really strict regime to get to the point. What you can expect by lifting weights is leaning out your…
  • Unfortunately, probably. haha It takes work to make serious muscle gains. I mean, all humans have some muscle, but you might want to consider increasing your weight lifting to see a better body transformation. Or even find some videos online/youtube of how to do weight training in the home with your own body weight as…
  • skinny fat is where you lose weight without muscle training, and thus have no muscle mass though your body weight is lower. Typically "skinny fat" people get to the body weight they had in mind but are then disappointed they don't look the way they want to, and continue more dieting with no muscle training...hence vicious…
  • Body weight fluctuates, sometimes drastically. I suggest tracking your weight per week over the course of a month. If the general trend is weight loss, you're on the right track :)
  • I chew fruit flavored gum, I drink water or tea, or I do something else for ten minutes to dissipate my hunger.
  • Definitely you need to figure out what the emotional/psychological reason for your binges are before you can think about "fixing it." That's a huge part of recovering from binge eating. Those underlying issues need to be resolved first, which will help give you a healthier relationship with food to eventually get beyond…
  • Your profile states that you only have 3lbs to go...maybe you should strongly consider setting your weight loss goal for .5 to 1.5 lbs per week, not 2. You'll have more calories to eat, and it'll help you ease into maintenance without a drastic weight jump that some people get from not slowly increasing their calorie…
  • Lunges, squats...even better when you add weights.
  • If you slowly increase your calories, by about 50 to 100 a day per week, you shouldnt have a huge gain. So instead of 1200 a day, eat 1250 a day for a week, then 1300 ect... Even if you do have a weight gain "jump" it should balance out eventually by eating at your maintenance calories.
  • I don't have a link...but typically, as posters have hinted at, calorie counts are for the raw product, so UNCOOKED fish, chicken, beef, pasta, rice, oatmeal. You should weigh such products before you cook them. Raw fruit...well just put it on your food scale and that would be how you measure that! For popcorn, that DOES…
  • I would go more for an intolerance than anything else. You've been eating them for 9 weeks you said...I doubt your body is still "getting used to them." I too get bloating a lot from eating veggies, but like other posters said, I take beano or similar product, because I'd rather be bloated by be eating veggies than go…
  • Homemade sauce and meatballs. I could eat a vat of that. Fluffernutters! Best results with 8Tbsp of fluff and 8Tbsp of peanutbutter betwixt two thick slices of whole wheat break :) yummm
  • Last summer, I was in maintenance for a few months, and i agree, it's a mental hurdle you have to get over. (I left maintenance because I became depressed and ate myself to a higher weight. Now trying to lose it again. But my bmi is in the healthy range--Just giving an explanation so you know I do understand where you're…
  • A few things: first, what did you put into myfitnesspal? The app will tell you exactly how many calories to consume based upon your activity level. If you ALWAYS walk 5 miles to and from work, but other than that are most sedentary, I would say to put into myfitnesspal that you're sedentary. Second, be sure your fitbit is…
  • Like the previous poster mentioned, make sure you're properly tracking! Invest in a food scale, and weigh your food! Every bite. Sometimes we take in more than we think. And give it time. Weight loss can be slow, and it's almost never exactly as we want it (precisely 1 or 2lbs a week.) Sometimes we "stall." Just stick with…

  • Make vegetable soup, vegetable in casseroles, mixed in with pasta, bake them into "chips," make a vegetable omlet, grill them, sautee them....check out pinterest and other online blogs for more ideas. :)

  • You should look into getting a foam roller for your legs! You can find them on Amazon.com and I'm sure lots of other stores. And you can look on youtube for the most effective ways to use it. Sometimes, even with the same workout, you just get sore from running. Every run can't be perfect :)

  • All food is good food, if it's in moderation and fits your calories! 1000 apples a day is probably not healthy even though it's "clean" eating.

  • i apologize for the super long response! I just want you to know that mental health is just as important as physical health and you don't need to be alone to find a balance between the two! Please reach out to health care providers! Best of luck to you, and I hope you find a balance and reach a healthy mental state!
  • This is a sensitive area of course because as you have mentioned, you have a history of disordered eating. I would like to first tell you that you're very brave for sharing that, I know it can be hard to talk about. So thank you for that. I also appreciate your attitude of wanting to do this healthily. It's very hard to…
  • I think you should figure out if you require breakfast. Do you find yourself particularly hungry mid morning? Ravenous? Cranky? Hard time focusing? Perhaps you're a breakfast person and could use a little something, be it toast, cereal, fruit, an egg... If you find you're fine without, and would rather have more calories…
