I bought my last Amy's frozen dinner and a Marie Callender pot pie a while back. Past practices and common sense suggest that I was buying 1 serving and when skimming the label it looked like a fair meal with low cal & not so high sodium levels. Only after I ate and was adding it to my MFP foods did I then discover that I…

Jayne19099 hit the nail on the head with her post. You shouldnt be "pounding" while running. The road is not as forgiving as a treadmill and you will end up hurting yourself. Youtube for proper running form, gait and foot plant. I weigh 230lbs and many runners never hear me coming up from behind. Short and light steps.…

Dont think all the motion in the ocean will help with that fish

I think if youre healthy & run with proper form it doesnt matter much what surface you run on. I jump from the sidewalk to the road and back depending which is cleaner and has the best surface.

Hey, when other runners ignore me I just shrug, pull my shorts back up, and continue on....

Im tracking potassium. It just takes a little more effort to get started. I often google for potassium content in the foods I eat. OP feel free to check my & my friend's diaries - http://www.myfitnesspal.com/SanteMulberry (she is knowledgeable and helpful)

We should heed the advice of the American Heart Association & The Mayo Clinic. Sodium may not matter today, but eventually it will catch up to you. "In some people, sodium increases blood pressure because it holds excess fluid in the body, creating an added burden on the heart. Too much sodium in the diet may also have…

I dont use supplements or vitamins unless suggested by my GP. I am never sick or run down and I dont eat clean. From the Mayo Clinic - "Over the past few years, studies have found that vitamins previously considered beneficial may not be helping — and may be causing harm. The March issue of Mayo Clinic Health Letter…

I know youre frustration as I too suffered with shin splints for years. Shin splints are caused by tight calves, bad form, (ie: heal striking, over striding), worn motion control shoes, and running inclines or by the terrible toos....too much, too hard, too fast. Shin splints are inflammation of the tendons that anchor the…

Please clarify; first you stated that youve "been jogging and biking for the past year". Then in closing you state that "can focus on getting back into jogging" Assuming you have primarily been biking and now trying to run, you are not in running shape and will have a higher HR. You need to run at a speed that will allow…

I know the arguments, creatine is natural - but I dont favor supplements of any kind. (I may take vitamins periodically but only for short stints.) Also supplements are not regulated and have no credible oversight. If I were a professional athlete I would take supplements based on regular lab analysis.…

Dang, pelvic symphysis. Learn something new everyday! Where you in a lot of pain? I just checked it out at wikipedia and hurt just reading about it. Glad youre ok. Im 6' and weigh 229 lbs and am a long time runner and have suffered with shin splints for years. When I read the book "Born to Run" by Christoper MacDonald I…

All muscles and tendons will become sore & ache with new activity, and so will your weak and flaccid feet. The foot has 19 muscles, 107 ligaments, and 26 bones. Build your body and dont ignore its base - your feet - walk barefooted and massage them. Research foot exercises. Motion control and arch supports are crutches.

Hello smily and congrats on your 2 year weight loss. I know it took a lot of effort and discipline. I am a long time runner and enjoy reading and researching its related dynamics. My advice to you is protect the progress you have thus far achieved. Dont rush into running. Depending on the source, up to 80% of runners will…

Regular yellow mustard (French's, etc), it's even better than white vinegar. Next time you burn yourself in the kitchen coat the burn with mustard and let it dry. I used it on a bad burn and the results were remarkable...no pain, no redness and no blister. Read the comments at the bottom of the article.…

Depends on the exercise. The OP states: <SNIP> Visualize a car equipped with a tachometer. Cruising at a constant speed on the open highway one could more accurately estimate fuel expenditure per mile merely by monitoring the tach. Not so in city driving because of inconsistent demands on the power plant. (do I make sense…

If your toenails are hitting the shoe you either need longer shoes are shorter toenails. Also wear socks and if are then try a different material.

To those who keep drumming the "he was only a 17 year old kid" I gotta ask, did GZ hurt any less, would he have bled any less, would his head being slammed in the concrete hurt any less, because TM wasnt 20 years old?
