Count me in - very unhappy if I miss a workout. Come to think of it, the gym is the only place where I truly know what I'm doing. I got all the focus and concentration.

um, alcohol. But I'm not really a heavy drinker at all, I just want to be able to have a drink now and then. Especially with family visiting over the holidays, alcohol is pretty much a requirement in order to keep things in order! (hope they dont read this lol)

I would do what you are doing right now for a while - that will burn some calories for sure, then ease your way into some heavy stuff. It's all about the technique too, so do your research. It is quite easy to injure yourself doing weights if you do them wrong (or even just be not as effective as you could be) Slower is…

Devil's advocate (so much fun) Maybe they mistook your gym bag for their own. Never mistake stupidity for malice. "woah, here's my gym bag, how dumb of me to leave it here, I'll just take it, without looking inside..."

Yeah I figure I'd better really, really, really want those pretzels if I got to be burn 400 cal on the treadmill - for me thats about 1/2 hard work - on top of the 40 minutes I'm already supposed to be doing. Those things can sneak up on one: pretzel: relatively healthy, yoghurt - relatively healthy. yoghurt pretzels: get…

I poke myself in the stomach - feel the hard muscles underneath but the inch or so of squishy before I hit the muscle. Then I think about how far I`ve come so far and how much I hated being ``soft`

good post - thanks for taking the time!

stomach (hurrah) and face.

haha, zing! yeah, I don't know how I missed that! Very humbling!

Gyms are a funny places really. Think about it, the stuff you do in a gym you never really do anywhere else - and we pay for the privilege!! If aliens were studying our society (some think they are lol) then they would have a field day on gym behavior and some alien would write his thesis on it. Look the silly human, he…

I will, it might not be "pretty" but I will.... edit: oh wow, I said the exact same as someone else - that's awkward.

thanks for advice guys, my dream is to actually get off the treadmill and run outside like a "real runner". However, weather in this part of the world makes that extra challenging. Plus I want to get it up to the point where I am actually running for a significant amount of time before going outside (currently I can only…

I just buy a small popcorn. They seem to prefer it if you don't smuggle in your own personal food. I do bring my own water - there's no way I can justify paying theatre prices for a bottled water. The small popcorn is so ridiculously small that the "damage" is minimized some. I love how they always beg you to buy the next…

Butter tarts - what can I say, I'm Canadian! Anticipating possible diet carnage over Christmas, I've drawn up a list of dos and don'ts. Butter tarts I will say "yes' to, boxed chocolates I will not.

Download a couple of really, really good Albums on your "musical device". And I mean, really good addictive music - the stuff you love, the album that you were counting the days before it was released. The one you rave about, stand in line to get tickets to and you have a poster of the artist on your wall. Now, you only…

They lost me at "restructured meat technology.".....not that I was really there in the first place. In my youth I wore a hairnet and a name tag for one long, hot summer. Never really was a fan of fast food after that. heh.

almonds, dates, raisins, dry breakfast cereal, dried cranberries, carob chips I have mine all mixed in mini bags.

I did it for TMJ (trans manible jaw something or other) and it totally worked. I also did it for when I used to have anxiety and that seemed to help as well. I'm not sure it would work for losing weight, though it might help for cravings. I intended to do it for quitting smoking but I ended up just quitting on my own…

I want to...does that count? I just need to find the right program etc. I'm a little intimidated by the whole thing. My workouts are 1/2 and 1/2 cardio and weights hard core at this point and I *really* need some stretching and flexibility. I posted earlier today (but got no response) if anyone can recommend any good yoga…

The journey of a 1000 miles starts with the first step. Congratulations!!!! You've taken your first step! Next: One foot in front of the other, over, and over, and over....keep moving forward. And believe - it is possible.

I get up early on a cold winter morning and go to the gym, instead of staying in the warm bed and dozing!

1/2 the battle is developing the exercise habit. So with that - even a 10 minute session is better than nothing. I'm a super busy person too, so I'm struggling to find the time, however I'm obsessed with "keeping the ball" rolling and if some of my work outs are less than optimum, then at least I showed up and did…

Ummmm, not sure how to explain this but a man's "equipment" must go one side or the other. google: "dress left or right" To the OP - you rock! Great progress!! You are getting some good definition there.

This sounds good! I'm looking for appetizer/finger food type dishes. Questions though - 1.) 20 minutes per side - meaning there are 4 sides or 2 sides? 2.) How thick a rectangle should it be? Thanks :)

Another poster here briefly mentioned "lactose intolerance" . I would give that some serious thought. I used to be the "fart king" as well and it turned out I was lactose intolerant. I didn't think I would be since I drank tons of milk as a kid, but apparently the body changes over time (besides the obvious things) and…

The word you are looking for is "hangry" (a port-monteau of hungry and angry) It seems to fit for me. I am nearing my goal so I've changed my expectations to 1/2 pound a week (and upped my exercise slightly). I made great strides at the beginning (I was at 1500 or something) but then my losses have stalled for about the…
