There was one guy who used the squat rack for 2 hours straight…it was kind of weird. Then there’s the family that comes in and uses both squat racks and both bench presses for the entire morning. Oh, and then there was the guy who glared at me and asked if I was using the bench press that I was sitting at and he had…

Seriously, $29 a month is an outrageous cost for any subscription. Does anyone actually pay that much????

100% agree! The new “dashboard” is awful.

Thanks. The problem I am having is that I am unable to subtract the whey from the yogurt recipe. For every 8 oz of yogurt mix, I need to subtract 59 calories, and I would like to subtract fat/protein/sodium/etc as well.

I had always heard that you either have cellulite or you don't...doesn't matter what type of shape you are in. I had always had cellulite, even when I was a really skinny teenager. Well, mine disappeared when I started doing NROLFW. I'll have to admit, when I realized it was gone, I couldn't stop staring at my legs for a…

Pre-pregnancy, I was running a 5k in 26-30 minutes. Around week 16, it had slowed down to 35 minutes. By week 18, I couldn't even finish a 5k. Now I am "running" about 3k in 30 minutes (alternating running and walking). I'm still getting a great workout, though, so it doesn't bother me too much.

The general rule is that anything you did pre-pregnancy you can continue doing as long as you are able. I am 29 weeks, and have been running and lifting heavy the entire pregnancy (I did check with my doctor who said it was great that I was doing those things). The reason behind not doing crunches later in pregnancy (my…

It's HARD running when it's hot out. I find myself melting when its any hotter than 20C, but then I'm a total wimp when it comes to heat. I suspect that when it cools down, you will find it much, much easier. Until then, take it slow, and make sure to hydrate!

When I was working through the program last year, I started to see amazing results around stage 4. Like my cottage cheese thighs and buns disappeared completely. My arms also started to look sculpted and my belly was almost completely flat. That was probably the first time in my life that I had actually been happy with my…

Try practicing some relaxation techniques. The one that I find most helpful is to focus on each muscle in your body and tense it, then relax it and imagine it getting heavy and warm. I usually start with my toes and work my way up, and am usually asleep before I ever reach my torso. Another one that works for me is to pick…

Sounds like you just overdid it this weekend. Rest up and you should feel better soon. As for your back, I suspect that you are doing the same thing I was. I had been over-arching my lower back (letting my belly stick out and pushing my butt out to compensate for the weight out front) which was putting a major strain on my…

Yes, I was ravenously hungry until about 5.5 weeks when it turned to constant nausea. So go ahead and eat (healthy things). :)

Check out your local library for exercise DVDs. I use those a lot in the winter when it is too cold and dark to run outside. Also, if you have cable, sometimes it will have a fitness section with free workouts.

Haha...I do this all the time too. Yesterday I put the cheese away in the baking cabinet instead of the fridge. Fortunately I caught it before I left for work... I wonder what other items I'll find in weird places?

The whole 140bpm thing was an arbitrary number picked by doctors a long time ago that is no longer recommended. If you go to the home page of this pregnancy group, there is a good explanation on that. Here are a couple of articles that I found helpful: http://www.runnersworld.com/tag/pregnant-running…

The 1st stage is really short, even when you factor in the rest between sets. Don't worry, the rest of the workouts are much, much longer (with the exception of the optional stage 6)! They usually took me between 60-90 minutes. Edited to add: I don't remember losing much weight during the 1st stage, but my muscle…

That's fantastic! My mile time went from about 8.5 minutes pre-pregnancy to now more than 12. And it just keeps getting slower each run. :frown:

It's not showing up when I search the groups...

Oh, Braxton Hicks! I hadn't even thought about that. They're harmless right? I did find that leaving my pants untied helped some. Thankfully I'm big enough now that they don't fall off!

I'm hoping all you experienced ladies can help me troubleshoot my running. The last couple of times I have gone running, I wind up with some discomfort in my lower abdomen during my run. I can't figure out where it is coming from - uterus, bladder, bowel or a combo of all 3. It feels kind of like my abdominal organs are…

Oh, good to know! I guess I will need to take some weights with me when testing them out. :)

I finally have enough data to get started here! Cumulative weight gain: Starting: 117 lbs, 5'2" Week 8: 119, +2 Week 9: 119, +2 Week 10: 120, +3 Week 11: 118.8, +1.8 Week 14: 123.2. +6.2 Week 15: vacation! no access to scale Week 16: 126.6, +9.6 (yikes! 3 lb gain from going on vacation!)

YES! I felt this way the entire first trimester, and still do at 16 weeks. I am a smaller gal, though (5'2", 117lbs pre-pregnancy), so I started to pop out by 8 weeks. I don't feel fat...just really uncomfortable. I have the feeling that I will probably feel this way until baby is born and I shrink back down to my original…

Yep! It's also discouraging seeing the scale go UP instead of down for a change and same with measurements. I just have to keep reminding myself that it's for a good cause. :)

I'm only 14 weeks, but I have a few to add to your list. :) -horrible skin! What's up with this? I thought pregnant ladies were supposed to glow...I'm mostly glowing red from all the zits that have shown up everywhere. Yuck! -feeling like I'm starving all the time and if I don't eat RIGHT NOW, feeling nauseous. -can't find…

Both my OB and my midwife encouraged me to keep doing this program, as well as continue with my normal runs. The only thing they advised not to do was any crunch-type of moves after 20 weeks because it can separate the abdominal muscles (planks and other core work are ok, though). Pretty much any exercise that you did…

I did pretty much the same thing this year. I started over with stage 1, but only did it 4 times instead of the 8, since it's more of a "get acquainted with lifting" workout. I think I started with 80% of my final weights when I last did that stage.

How is everyone doing? Any luck with the morning sickness? I felt great last week and thought my MS was finally going away, but it came back in full force yesterday... On the plus side, had an ultrasound today at 11w4d and saw a healthy looking baby! The tech said that it was the most mobile fetus she had ever seen…

There is a MFP group for this that I have found really helpful: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/119-new-rules-of-lifting-for-women-nrol4w- Definitely check it out if you are going to be doing this workout. There are tons of tips on doing the workouts at home or gym, form etc.
