Today marks one year since I recommitted myself to working out and losing weight. I have lost 42 pounds and counting along with several inches off my waist. I've gone from XL shirts to medium shirts and I had to buy all new pants, belts, etc. I am the lightest I have ever been since my children have been alive, and my…

Lietchi, Your table looks very similar to my own. I used to do all these, plus:* Measurements of various parts of my body (belly, thigh, chest, arm, etc). * Body fat - periodically I got premium body fat measurements such as Bod Pod to measure my fat-free mass, then assumed constant fat free mass and daily calculated my…

You could have just as easily ignored my comment. You're essentially telling me not to police what he posts... by policing what I post.

You can change your activity level for a day from sedentary or whatever you are to active and eat to that level.

Sounds to me like 1/10 of what is in the package by weight is 280 calories. Any eggs or milk or whatever you add to that package content contributes to the calories of a slice of cake that you make. Without knowing the recipe or food label I don’t know what else we can tell you to be honest.

Honestly, I don't think we need the daily updates.

I'd agree with your GP, it'd also be the first two pieces of advice I'd give someone beginning a weight loss journey. 1. Be realistic about your rate of loss and how low you can/should go. 2. Don't diet, change your eating and activity habits for good. Don't do anything you wouldn't do for the rest of your life. To me,…

Every time I feel like I'm craving something, I make sure to eat it. I'll plan for it, I'll plan around it, I'll walk the dog extra long to "earn" it, whatever it takes. Whether it be ethnic food, fast food, dessert, whatever. For me, long term, I'd like to be able to enjoy the delicious stuff at appropriate portion sizes.…

Weigh yourself in the morning before you eat after you go to the restroom on the same scale in the same place every day. Yes, clothes and shoes can weigh several pounds. Yes, two scales can be several pounds different. Yes, the time of day you weigh yourself can have an impact of several pounds. And yes, if you were…

There is no quick fix to avoid a lifetime of obesity.

For me, I had a good routine going, but when my lifestyle changed through promotion at work, doing MBA part time, getting married, having kids, I abandoned the routine rather than adjusting it. I've now created a routine that fits my current lifestyle.

@VintageFeline I have a similar story as you. Weight/eating and depression have been intertwined with me, and honestly I've used it as an excuse at times to overeat or to avoid exercise. The depression is real, but eating healthier, exercise, and forming a more positive body image and feeling are part of the solution for…

I don't think anybody can tell you what's "wrong" with you. What you're describing isn't a disaster or irreversible. You have two choices today. Do you decide to do better and right the ship, or do you continue the bad habits and spiral downwards?

When I time my caffeine 30 minutes before my runs, I definitely notice the difference mentally. I feel less sluggish and more engaged.

If you open your diary, some people may find some clues to help you.

hate? Yes, they would be shallow dirt bags.

Our ancestors moved a lot more than we did. It took a lot more energy to do just about everything. I do think a lot about how I was able to gain 50 pounds in 2 years. I wasn't some crazy binge eater in terms of just eating a whole carton of ice cream. Honestly, I don't really even like sweets or sugar. I think it just…

Sometimes I find that I've lost weight after going on these types of events. I can only attribute it to being a little dehydrated (read: alcohol) and having low cortisol levels after relaxing.

I think that's your problem

The best way to find out is to assume it's right, then check results against what you'd expect over the long term and make adjustments as needed. I get a significant amount of calories when I walk that many steps (as a larger man, of course), eat everything back, and still see the results I'd expect. I think it's best to…

Don't consider anything a cheat. I do make sure to work in calorie-dense foods that I enjoy on a regular enough basis that I don't crave anything. Yesterday I had a donut AND fast food. On Saturday I had a whole pint of ice cream (halo top ftw) and two shots of whiskey. Still losing weight at my expected rate because I…

As an apple watch user, my only gripe is that it's kind of a poor heart rate monitor. I've read that it only refreshes every 10 seconds or so, in order to save battery. I'm used to using a polar watch with a chest strap, so you can say I've been spoiled. I have many runs where my apple watch gets "stuck" on a certain heart…

Don't care about cellulite or stretch marks and never have. As @TeacupsAndToning said, I'm usually more focused on other things anyways. I can honestly say that I've been extremely attracted to my wife during every version of her: during her leanest days, heaviest days, when pregnant, during post-partum, with makeup,…

I think how much you drink should probably line up with how much water you're losing from a given day due to sweat and all that. When I'm in a really dry climate, feels like I can't drink enough. I live in Houston and run outside every other day and definitely feel the effects if I don't have a gallon of water on the days…

Man, this thread got filled with a lot of WOO's in a short period of time. @leggup has the right answer, and that rate of loss is appropriate.

A few things to consider: 1. Water weight can be responsible for fluctuations in weight up to 10 pounds. Women, especially, go through water weight fluctuations due to menstrual cycle changes. Eating more carbs and sodium can affect water weight as well. I assume that hormonal fluctuations post-partum while breast feeding…

Not all of it. A lot of what you lost is fluids.

Well since someone else revived this post, I did want to acknowledge that MFP has done a lot to integrate fitness trackers automatically into the calories burned calculations and your daily activity which I think is pretty cool.
