  • I think you'll find that everybody handles it a little differently. Some people can have just a little bit and beat their craving that way. I for one am generally an all or nothing kind of person. I can't just have a little so it's better for me to have none. For my sugar cravings I've started to have 1 piece of 90% cocoa…
  • I started tracking my sugar for a while and was constantly over since I eat a good bit of fruit during the day. The only sugar I worry about is added sugar (in pre-prepared/store-bought items) and I try and stay away from artificial sweeteners (personal preference). I've noticed for myself that yogurt and…

  • Don't be too hard on yourself! I'll be finishing 30DS in more like 45 days. I was super gung-ho at the beginning but then I realized that I was getting a little too obsessed with it and neglecting my husband (I work out at night), so I've started to take more rest days and I'll finish it when I finish it. It's to guarantee…
  • I've had the exact same problem! I have noticed that when I eat refined sugars an artificial sweeteners I crave all sweets more so I have been trying to limit my intake of those which I think really helps. The other thing I've done is opt for dark chocolate as a post-dinner snack. I'm talking 90% Cacao, which is bitter…
  • What a terrible situation you are in! Please don't take others doubts about your fiance to heart, I think others just may have had similar experiences and are trying to empathize. You know him best of anyone, so if you believe what he says that's all that matters, I think others just want to be sure you have your eyes…
  • I drink hot green tea with lemon during the day. I've read that drinking it with lemon helps us better absorb the catechins (anti-oxidants) in the green tea. It's by no means a magic bullet but it is supposed to help support metabolism. I like drinking hot tea because I feel like it helps me feel fuller throughout the day.
  • I'm reading a book right now about what sugar does to us to try and understand how it affects my body. I feel like I've had bad sugar cravings since I got pregnant and had my first child. The book is called "Fat Chance" and while I can't vouch for the material in it (I literally just started it this morning) I've read and…
  • Good for you for coming back, it takes a lot of courage to do that! feel free to add me for motivation/support!
  • Feel free to add me! I had similar goals when I started MFP, I had about 18lbs to lose to reach my pre-baby weight (168-150). With the help of MFP I was able to do that and a little more and I've extended my goal by 10lbs. I've dealt with depression and anxiety issues in the past as well.
  • Feel free to add me too! I'm a (not-so-new) mom to a 13 month old that lost the rest of my baby weight with the help of MFP! Also try and remember that it took 9 months for you to gain, it can take AT LEAST 9 months to get rid of (for me a year).
  • Feel free to add me as well! I'm 28 and I have a 13 month old daughter. I'm trying to fit work, cooking healthy meals and exercise into my busy life.
  • I planned on doing it 30 days straight but life has gotten in the way. I plan to do the video for 30 days but it will probably take me about closer to 40 days to complete it as well.

  • Healthfulpursuit.com has some great gluten free recipes!
  • Fortunately I do the grocery shopping but my husband has sort of the same mindset. He can eat anything he wants and not gain a pound (always has been), so I just don't think he really understands how important it is for me to eat healthy so that I can continue to lose weight and improve my health and how tempting it is to…
  • I'm working this now as well. I sit down on Sundays to go through my recipes and select some for the week that are similar enough that I can re-use ingredients, but different enough so that we don't feel like we're eating the same thing every night. Honestly it all comes down to planning for me. Keep in mind that this may…
  • feel free to add me! I have a 1 year old daughter and am a working mom. I only have about 10-14lbs left to lose, however I lost the last of my baby weight because of this website and I log daily!
  • Chicago, IL here as well!
  • I personally don't know if there are many differences between different brands, however I use Bob's Red Mill Chia Seeds. They work well for me and I appreciate what the company is about. I got mine at my regular grocery store but you can find them at Whole Foods/Trader Joes I believe and you can order them online. I think…
  • healthfulpursuit.com has some great gluten free recipes! I'm not gluten free and even I enjoy the recipes!
  • By no means an expert but chia seeds are great! I had them as part of my breakfast this morning. I made a chia "pudding" by mixing 1/4 chia seeds, 1 cup almond milk, 1 tbsp agave, 1 tbsp vanilla extract and a little cinnamon. make sure you mix really well for a minute or 2 then cover it and refrigerate it overnight. I've…
  • Good for you! I'm 28 years old, married, with 1 daughter. I've hit my initial goal on MFP (to lose the rest of my baby weight before my January wedding) and now it's inspired me to extend my goal a little further! Fee free to add me for support and motivation!
  • I use almond milk for anything that I would use regular milk for. I've never been that crazy about milk anyways and after reading about all of the steriods, antibiotics and growth hormones pumped into regular dairy cows I decided I'd prefer not drink it at all if there's a chance those might be transferred to me (even a…
  • Feel free to add me! I joined MFP to lose my last 18lbs of baby weight before my wedding January. I accomplished that and extended my goal a little farther. My daughter is 13 months old and I'm just trying to get healthier all around so that I can continue to keep up with her.
  • One more good link for decoding different terms: http://www.redrover.org/decoding-humane-food-labels
  • Here's a good link for more information on how different brands of eggs are rated: http://www.cornucopia.org/organic-egg-scorecard/ My suggestion would be to research, research, research. Unfortunately you can't take a company's website at face value as there are a lot of misleading claims they make. It looks like your…
  • I've been trying to reduce my sugar intake as well after hearing things about how bad sugar is for us. I've been cutting back on my diet soda (hopefully to cut it off completely eventually) and have traded any white sugar for agave in recipes. If you're interested in reading more about it I just found a book called "Fat…
  • I would err on the side of caution and go with 100. Plus direct from the package is probably more reliable than anything else.
  • I'm starting tomorrow too! Invite please!
  • As someone who frequently eats out of boredom (which in no way am I comparing to binge eating, just eating when I am not physically hungry) I find that if I have my mind engaged in something I am less likely to eat. Idle time is dangerous time for me. Also, it may be helpful to limit any "trigger" foods if possible. For…
  • Good for you! It takes a lot of guts to not only admit that to yourself, but to a whole lot of strangers too! You've taken the big first step, so just keep doing the next right thing and I'm confident you'll reach your goals. Feel free to add me if you're looking for any support!
