Controlling binges?

There must be countless threads on this, I know.
I moderate my intake throughout the day but I binge SO bad at night. Like, anything I can grab. Even when I eat more throughout the day, I still binge at night - so that doesn't help me.
Any ideas on what I can do to control these binges? It's really stopping me from losing weight.

i completely identify, unfortunately : (( no solution is a perfect solution, but i find it really helps to have healthier things around to binge on. even if i had my healthy "weaknesses"--dried fruits, crackers, cereal--i'd still binge like crazy, and those things aren't even THAT low-cal. So finally, I just stopped buying the things I know will trigger me and have just carrots, blueberries, etc. on hand.
that, and pure mind over matter/willpower/determination. ugh.0 -
I do my workouts at night to fill the time and that keeps me from binging. I also keep healthy snacks around.0

Before you have your late night "snacks," try consuming some form of protein(protein shake/bar, milk, cottage cheese, meat) along with a glass of water. This will help satisfy your hunger and provide you with some clean calories.
Remember this is to help you control them, but you can avoid them all in all by planning out your meals for the day/week so that you don't end up starving yourself for hours before you go to bed.0 -
As someone who frequently eats out of boredom (which in no way am I comparing to binge eating, just eating when I am not physically hungry) I find that if I have my mind engaged in something I am less likely to eat. Idle time is dangerous time for me. Also, it may be helpful to limit any "trigger" foods if possible. For me, I choose not to keep certain things in my house because if they are there I will eat them and I tend to feel less of a need to stuff myself on quinoa and brussels sprouts
Have you thought about talking with a professional about the reason behind your bingeing? I find that I'm better at controlling a behavior when I understand the reason behind it.0
