I honestly can't think of any pet peeves at my gym. It's small and I'm there at or before 5 am, so there's only 2 other people working out. Like break dancing windmills? If you can dance between sets, you're doing it wrong! lol

You can add spinach to pretty much any smoothie without affecting the flavor. I make one the other day with almond milk, chocolate protein powder, peanut butter and a nice big handful of green leafies.

1. Small gym with a good sized free weight section 2. Cardio room shoved in the back (opposite of most places) 3. Same 2-3 guys come in at the same time every day and we're the only ones there 4. Trainers are nice and pretty much leave you alone if you're not training with them

That's all I really have access to right now...I could try pulling some of the stairs out of the aerobics room. Not sure how they'll feel about that. :) Good call. I'll throw those into my rotation. I've been trying to stay with shoulder width cuz that's all I've been reading but I'll try wider than shoulder for sure.

I did open up my stance and angled my feet out more and that did seem to help and I know I was going well past parallel using the olympic squat this morning. What you're decribing with the powerlifting squat sounds like it could be my issue. I thought that I was getting past parallel but my quads were working hard, so I…

I usaully grab a handfull of nuts and some water before I head out and then eat a full breakfast after I get home.

Bump I wanna see some new playlists!

Cut breasts into chunks, toss into a hot skillet and brown. Pour in a some teryaki or sweet and sour sauce and serve with brown rice and broccoli. Sprinkle with Carribean jerk seasoning and bake/grill them. Marinate them in Italian dressing. I know we do a lot more with them, I just can't think of it right now.

I don't know that I'd worry too much about the percentage as long as she's healthy. But for snacks my boys love a bowl of apple sauce with peanut butter mixed into it...can't say myself how it is, but it must be good. lol 1/2 a graham cracker with a little PB and banana slices is a favorite as well.

This. I would also throw nuts and seeds in, plus they have some protein as a bonus! :)
-
I figured you might be a vegetarian. :) I don't know how well this would work for you, but my wife and I will blend frozen fruit, spinach and flax seed with a splash of juice or almond milk and it's really filling. I think the flax seed expands and helps you feel full. We'll also add protein powder if we're drinking it…

I don't know what your specific nutrition goals are, but maybe try some heavier proteins? Chicken, turkey and pork do a lot more for me than fish does.

Strong Lifts 5x5 is a good starting program. It lays out everything for you...where to start, how much to add and when. I started it not too long ago and I like it so far.

I like a real heavy playlist while I'm lifting: Atreyu - Becoming the Bull Breaking Benjamin - I Will Not Bow Bullet For My Valentine - Hand of Blood The Devil Wears Prada - Born to Lose Five Finger Death Punch - War is the Answer Five Finger Death Punch - Dying Breed Five Finger Death Punch - White Knuckles Rage Against…

Lifting!
-
THIS! Work out again. It sounds a little counter productive but the more you work them, the less they will hurt. UNLESS it feels like injury pain and not that you worked out hard. That would require rest.
-
Which is exactly why I will continue to lift heavy!

Friend request sent! :)

I started lifting about 3 weeks ago and I've gone up about 4 pounds since then. I know I'm eating what I should be so I'm not worried about it. I can see changes in the mirror and in the fit of my clothes, which is a much better indicator of progress than the scale. Just stick with it and you'll start to see good things…

Busy forum this morning...bump

I had pretty much the same question yesterday and got some really good information. If you're interested, the link is here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/639734-question-for-the-heavy-lifters-out-there

Got some great info in here! Thanks everyone!!

It's more humbling than anything else for me. I work out early in the morning and this is apprently the time for the really fit guys to come in. My gym is small as well, so when I have to put small amounts on the bar to focus on form there's no way to hide it. :-/ I just keep thinking that they're not making fun of me in…

This makes sense. I think I can live with the body comp change :)

I wish there was a like button!

No time limit, just gotta get it off. I've looked into Crossfit and I like the idea of it. Haven't worked any in yet. I have been using the big lifts (squat, dead lift, bench) and working in others around those.
-
Thank you! I definitely agree on using proper form. It's hard to swallow my pride and put that light weight on while I'm working on form. Especially with the fit guys working out around me. Just gotta remember I'd rather do that than hurt myself. I'm following a paleo-ish diet right now, so I'm pretty sure I'm getting…

Thanks for the calculator. I've used them before but it's been awhile since I have. I'm definately eating at a deficit according to that.
-
New question. I understand eating at a deficit (it's how I lost my weight until now) but I keep reading that in order to build muscle you need to eat more than your maintainance calories. What do I do about this? Just accept that I won't see a lot of strength gain for now?
