For me it was Greek Yogurt, oats (pre-WOD), and some white rice (post WOD). No ill effects digestive wise. I sleep better on those nights and seem to recover/perform better with the extra carbs.

Actually, I'm shocked that it's 40% that starting to realize that they offer no nutritional value. I thought it would be less. So many people in my office building bring in frozen lean cuisines and WW meals like it's going out of style.

Her thoughts are that it is a lot less amount of hormones than the BCP, and they're isolated to the uterus rather than the entire blood stream. She claims that BCP wasn't meant to be long-term and can have some bad side effects when you get older, and Mirena supposedly has a lot less side effects. She deals with them a lot…

Welcome, you guys! Feel free to add me, if you're looking for CF friends.

I've been doing CF since April 2013, and I love it. If you are eating some carbs like sweet potatoes, it's good to plan that for your post WOD meal. You'll find that this way of eating falls right into line of how they do.

When I went full on paleo (no dairy, full fat meats, NO sugar at all, full fat coconut milk in smoothies and coffee, butter and bacon daily), my cholesterol GREATLY improved from when I was vegan. My cholesterol was over 300 when I was vegan with my HDL being super low and my LDL being really high. Triglycerides were…

Well, I went to my first class Thursday of last week. It was a lot of cleans, power cleans, and wall balls. Kept it light and tried to keep my coach in the know with my status. He kept his eye on me throughout the entire class. I felt great and accomplished after. For a brief moment in time, I was able to focus on…

Thank you, everyone, for the support. I think I'm going to go to my first class back this afternoon. I think the physical aspect of it will help me channel those emotions. I'll just make sure to let the trainers know I'm not 100% yet. It was a very sudden loss that we didn't see coming. I know it's going to take time to…

This. This. and This.

I do full fat, because it keeps me fuller longer. I even mix my protein shake with full fat coconut milk! Keeps me going for hours!

The 1500-1700 wasn't based upon anything other than I wasn't losing at all on 1200-1300 cals, and I heard that upping it a bit can "jumpstart" weight loss again. So, I tried upping it for several months, and nothing happened despite working out 3-4 times/week. I found this group and upped my cals to the TDEE on Scooby,…

I'd look at the level of soreness. If it is something you think some movement/exercise would work it out - go. However, if you're sore to the point where you can't keep good form, rest or walk instead. I think I read this on one Crossfit blog, but rest days are encouraged and is when you actually build your strength. I…

Heybales, I went from eating between 1,500 - 1,700 cals to jumping up to 2,000-2,200 immediately - no scaling up. I expected to gain weight, but instead I lost 3 lbs. I did this end of September, and I've kept off those 3 lbs. My TDEE is 2189 (scooby using the Katch with measured BF). I crossfit 4-5 times per week and used…

Can you do competitions if you can't RX a WOD?
-
I don't know how much activity you put down, but even if you do roughly 3-5 hours of activity with a 20% cut, it would be 1,422 instead of 1,320.

Welcome, and let us know when you've fully drank the Kool-Aid! It's totally worth it!

They did ask me what my occupation was, how many times do I crossfit, any other activities, how many calories do I eat and how many meals/day. I thought I was going to be told too much when I said 1,700, but she quickly told me I was nowhere near enough. I'm going to press on as is and see where I land with the next test.…

They work with crossfit boxes all over the area. So, they said they accounted for that kind of activity when they calculated my BMR and TDEE. I think they have their own formula they use. It's only about 100 calories or so off, which isn't much. I think they were having me eat full TDEE to maximize the full LBM gain and…

Virtually anything by Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam, or that Satisfaction song by Benny something

...
BCAA's my friend... nothing better for muscle repair/soreness... along with foam rolling.
I take Catalyst from Advocare because that's what my box sells, but is there one you recommend? Also, their bottle says to take them BEFORE a workout, but I hear people in here say they take after. Is there a…

Awesome! We're 3 weeks into our challenge. Nobody on our team (me included) has seen any scale changes thus far. We've got until November 15th, but we hope to have results like yours!

Aren't there MFP rules about creating a group that is basically slander or says bad stuff about people? I'm tired and my brain is begging for a nap.

I'm gone for a day and MAYHEM ensues! Seriously, what is with the stick up this woman's butt over crossfit? I will say some of the threads in there are pretty funny....

I was just thinking about these the other day. I used to use Polar Heart Rate monitor, but I find that works best if I'm walking, running, or other activity that's sustained. When I use it for a combo lifting/cardio, I get a bloated number. I remember seeing on another Crossfit board (outside of MFP), that they aren't…

I currently follow a paleo diet ( and am doing a Paleo challenge at my crossfit box). And the Macros they kinda recommend, which I follow, is 50% fat, 30% protein, 20 % carbs. I typically eat 1 fruit/day in the morning and after WOD at 5:30 PM, I'll have a sweet potato with my dinner. So, I keep my carbs roughly around…

Okay - this is interesting. I might look into this too!

If you don't pay the $$ to eat clean and get healthy now, then you will just pay it on the back end with Doctor's visits, Medicine, surgeries, etc. Either way - the money is going somewhere. That's why we see a lot of Type-II diabetics in the U.S. that spend $200 or more a month on medication and buy Value Meals at Mc…

My suggestions: 1) Ditched processed junk. Special K is chemical junk in a box. It will keep you hungry and fat. If it has ingredients you cannot pronounce or know how it's made - don't eat it! I'm guessing the ravioli is a frozen meal, right? JUNK. 2) Eat whole foods! WHOLE eggs, veggies, meats, fruits (not too much),…

This is a great option! Thanks! I'll google Farmer's Carries. I really need to work on my grip badly if I ever want to accomplish anything bar related.
