  • I pace my house a lot, or march in place while watching TV. On weekdays I'm not running I will make a point of taking my iPad down to my office's basement gym, hop on a treadmill and walk while streaming a TV show. I try to get at least a 30-minute walk like this done every MWF.
  • I have the same problem, where there are just so many people in and out of the fridge at work that I can't reliably use it because stuff tends to disappear. I keep beef jerky and tuna pouches on hand all the time for the most part, and sometimes Fiber One bars and brownies for some sweetness. I do have a little bit of…
  • YAAAAAAAAAY! When's your next one?
  • That's something I should have mentioned, too - you can't really heat it because it curdles. It's great for salads and usually I can put it on a hot potato just fine but I microwaved it once and that was bad.
  • We use nonfat Greek yogurt. It's super versatile. Sometimes my husband will blend it with garlic and a few other things to make tangy dressings, or we mix it with sriracha or other hot sauce a lot.
  • Also I wish but don't wish someone had warned me about the toenails thing sooner. I had no idea until I was training for maybe my second or third half and got one. :)
  • Agreed, but just personally, I've had friends be rude/mocking about running more than I've ever been catcalled.
  • edit: I think maybe I'm thinking of something totally different, nevermind.
  • That's pretty much my feeling and what I discovered in the beginning when I started losing weight/learning more about food. Sure, a handful of Oreos taste nice, but do you KNOW how much broccoli I can eat for the same amount of calories?!?!! <3 ;)
  • No, it's not a stupid question. Mine are both the appropriate size, but it just adds some extra support that I don't get from just wearing one. Lately I have been wearing this: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Danskin-Now-Women-s-Seamless-Sport-Bras-2-Pack/15540051 Underneath this:…
  • I have never, ever had good luck with VS. I mean I know everyone's mileage is going to vary. I just feel like they're not very supportive. But I love my Champion ones.
  • same. I have some cheapie Walmart ones I wear as the first layer and then some slightly nicer (but still inexpensive) Champion ones. I just can't make myself get a $40-50 sports bra when I need to be able to wear it 5-6 days a week.
  • People don't want to believe that they have to really work for it, and once they've decided something, changing their minds is very difficult. My mother and grandmother both still screech about foods that are "low fat" as if that's the end-all, be-all to what constitutes healthy food.
  • I take my running shoes every time we travel. Most of the time I do make it out to run a bit, sometimes I don't. If we're at my in-laws', they're fine with it and they don't think it's weird if they get up in the morning and I'm already out and about somewhere. I took them with me to Galveston recently and I thought the…
  • I kinda get this - I had people I basically quit seeing because they only wanted to do things that I was starting to want to avoid, like partying and drinking. Now I live in a brand new city and I'm trying to purposefully join social groups that do things I want to be doing, i.e. a running club.
  • My gym schedule can vary week to week - I used to be in the gym by 5am MWF, but I have a Tuesday night running group now and I don't always get to bed early enough for Wednesday mornings and will sometimes go in the evening. That being said, I much prefer a 5am workout if I can help it. I like not having to think about it…
  • People treat you a lot differently. I wish I'd had a better idea how hard it can be to maintain. I think my initial expectations were probably unrealistic and I struggled a lot when I realized it wasn't something where I was just going to lose the weight and then be "finished."
  • Sometimes I boil a bunch and then peel them for breakfast over the following days - what has helped me is when they've been out of the fridge about 10 minutes or so, so they "sweat" a bit before I try to peel them.
  • I pay $20/month, I'm usually there three days a week (sometimes four), and I can bring my husband as a guest if he decides to skip the gym at his place of work for whatever reason.
  • I am going to try JEFIT tomorrow morning, thank you!
  • I would say this is similar to my experience. I didn't struggle too much to lose weight while training for halfs, but when I tried a full I wanted to eat all of the things and unlike this poster I probably gained a few pounds in the process.
  • I would try the Gain Fitness app. It will create an at-home program for you if you want.
  • I guess I'm lucky in that my husband has a pretty solid palate for healthier foods, which I obviously love, but I still struggle with things like portion sizes. He also really loves craft beer (and so do I) but obviously I can't have that every day so sometimes I just take a sip of his and call it good. He knows there are…
  • My daily goal is 1360... I did 1200 for awhile and I was pretty much miserable. Even just that extra 160 calories makes a big difference for me, although I tend to use it as a guideline and sometimes don't mind going slightly over.
  • My husband has made ahead and frozen breakfast burritos for reheating, and those work pretty well. I also eat a lot of hard boiled eggs, since they're really easy to transport. Like a LOT.
  • I feel like the "dad bod" trend is some weird way of making it okay for guys to be out of shape even though it's kind of an established social rule that women always have to look perfect, but not like they're trying too hard, thin but not skinny, with curves but not fat, with make-up but not TOO much, properly dressed but…
  • Height - 5'4" and a half SW: 225 CW: 164 GW: 150 I got down to 140 at one point a few years ago and found that it was almost impossible for me to maintain because I had to eat so little to stay at that weight. This time around I'm focusing more on building muscle and just trying to get to a weight where I can say, "Meh,…
  • I think I bought a dri-fit tank top from Goodwill once. That's about it. I usually buy my stuff at Ross or Wal-Mart anyway so there isn't really any inherent appeal to me when it comes to buying used work-out clothes. The "ick" factor for me would depend on what it was and what condition it's in... I've bought stuff from…
  • I did Herbalife for a short time but I'd just have it as a snack after a workout, usually. I think a serving was like 150 calories or something super low like that and that seemed no bueno to me as a "meal."
  • I do not care for cheat days, just personally, because I have found that it's easier for me to get into and stay into the habit if I just keep at it consistently instead of disrupting it to have a free-for-all day.
