  • Can you do something at work? I find it hard to fit exercise in but I can go at least for a walk at work. It isn't ideal but it is exercise. Can you do something with your kids? Are they old enough for you to do some family exercise -- rock climbing, skating, catch, soccer practice? Aim for 10 minutes a day. Don't worry…
  • I would look at wrestling.
  • You are absolutely shattered. It is good to take a day or two off when you are like that. Just get back to the routine when you start to feel better. No you aren't going to lose all your hard work as long as you stay to your calorie total and you get back to exercising again soon. Don't worry. I've taken days off. I've…
  • I would say stick at 1 lb per week and just take the time that it takes to get the weight off. Depending on your height and current weight, 2 lb per week may be completely unrealistic. 1 lb per week may be as well. Remember the first few weeks are the toughest. Do some research on filling foods and find the ones that work…
  • I have experienced this quite a few times. What can help is having a blow out meal -- one where you don't worry about the number of calories you have and you eat until you are full. I do this once a month and it keeps me going well on the diet for another 2 or 3 weeks. It seems to help my body adjust to the losing of…
  • When you go to the supermarket, ask the produce people. They can often help you with fruits and vegetables that you are unfamiliar with. Just ask them how to pick a good one. They are usually very helpful. That's what I do when I'm trying new vegetables or fruits and I don't know how to pick them.
  • Absolutely normal. Something else is going on. You are likely to be retaining water for some reason -- likely a higher salt intake. Don't be discouraged, just keep on going. My scale goes up and down 3 lbs regularly. You are losing weight and the scale will reflect that if you keep on going.
  • To make a positive impact on your weight, the biggest change you have to make is how many calories you ingest. Exercise will help tone you and help you look, feel and be healthier in the long run but you are unlikely to exercise off the weight. You have to do too much to compensate for the natural increase in appetite that…
  • First tackle things one at a time. If you are stressing and worrying, is there something that you can do about the situation that is bothering you? If not, then don't worry about it or if that is not possible, worry about it only at fixed times. I know that sounds silly but fix an amount of time and a certain time when you…
  • I would go for either "What's Dave Smoking Tonight" or the "David's Best BBQ Brisket Plate". Salads are notorious in TX for being high in calories. These options are smoked somethings. Smoking shouldn't add a lot of calories. Get the BBQ sauce on the side -- you can say that you like to taste your food and your BBQ sauce…
  • I think you need to do some maths. 30 pounds in 13 weeks is over 2 lbs per week. That is extremely fast and probably unhealthy to maintain. I think your weight loss expectations are too fast. . You have lost 17 lbs in 90 days. That is fantastic progress and over 1 lb per week. That is great progress. Have a look at your…
  • When should you do Zumba? Because you like it. Because you have fun doing it. Don't worry if you look like an injured baboon. That is a stage that will pass. You don't walk like you did when you first starting walking. You will get better with practice. The best people to dance with are the people who are enjoying…
  • Can you take the motivation out of the situation? I've been changing since December. I'm still waiting for the motivation in a lot of ways. What works for me is not waiting for the motivation but just accepting that this is what I need to do. Exercise programs that tell you when you need to do something work for me. They…

  • I classify mine as walking at a slow pace for about 1/2 the time I was there. For instance I'm at a waterpark with my little one for 3 hours. I log it as walking at 2.0 miles per hour for 1 or 1.5 hours. I use 1 or 1.5 depending on how energetic I was -- lots of floating = less time. Lots of sitting down = less time.
  • Okay you are just at the start. Here are some things I would try: 1) First of all eat all your exercise calories back. 2) Search on the internet for good filling foods and pick the ones that you like and work for you. Try to make sure you have them frequently. 3) Eat more at breakfast. 4) The first month is the hardest --…
  • It can be very difficult to fit it in. Here are some suggestions: 1) Get up earlier and do your exercises right away. Yes, horrible, yes you are half awake but no matter what you get them done. I'm currently working on this one. 2) Pre-cook meals at the weekend for the week at the weekend if you can -- freeze them and thaw…
  • I assume it is you and your baby in the photo. The answer is yes you can aggreviate a problem post-pregnancy if you already have it by doing stomach exercies. If you have a condition called diastasis (essentially the abdominal muscles have separated near your belly button), then traditional stomach exercises can make it…
  • The first few days are the hardest. The first few weeks are also tough but then it gets easier and you have figured out some things that you can eat that work for you. Take it easy for the first few weeks and don't try to lose a lot. Set your sights at 1/2 a pound a week and get used to the calorie count. Then when you can…
